Washers are generally used on components that will be under stress during use - for example handles and latches. Washers are not usually used on double angle extrusions as the inside leg serves as reinforcement. However some people use washers with every pop-rivet as a habit. Thanks for your question.
I found that when I placed my laminated pieces into the double angle I had to really jimmy with it to make sure the double angle didn't catch the laminate and start to split it or tear it away from the wood. It did not seem to go in as easily as is demonstrated here.
Yes FriedRiceGalore - ratchet strap and band clamp are synonymous terms. Search for either at Lowe's or Home Depot and you'll find one. Hope this helps.
Example: Using 3/8 plywood and our ABS Laminate you would use 3/8" double angle. Both Double Angle and Tongue & Groove extrusions are designed the same way.
please could upload a video of how to make guitar case with the same materials please thank you . here in my country there are no videos about that i amfrom Bolivia

You'll notice at 1:52 into the video the holes go through the inside leg of the extrusion. This precludes the need for a back-up washer - the aluminum itself serves that purpose. The cases in the video were in fact built for one of AFW's customers.
Hi Mark. For our DIY Road Case videos we used a cheapo Harbor Freight gun. It almost lasted through the video & then took a dump. We then evaluated various guns and settled on the one we now offer on-line at ReliableHardware . com. Go to our site and search "rivet gun" or click the link below - it'll pop right up! Thanks for asking. www.reliablehardware.com/pneumaticrivettool.aspx
thank you for the heads up. I plan on building a few pretty soon. I like how everything was broken down into it's simplest form. Makes it less confusing even for beginners.

How much length to the board do the extruded aluminum angles add? In other words, if I want a box 12" wide, how long should I cut the board?

I'm assuming ratchet straps would work as well as a band clamp..?

Of the thicknesses of plywood you use for cases, what thickness do you find yourself using the most?
3/8" plywood is the most common.
So I would also use 3/8" rivets? I noticed you used 1/8" rivets but the wood looks thicker than that.
How thick is the laminate? Would I need to buy 1/2" double angle excrusions and use thinner, 3/8" plywood to make room for the laminate too?***

I see you gave up on using washers during the rest of the assembly here. Are they still a good idea?

What’s the side dimensions for the lid? 3 inches? Four inches?
Generally between 3.5 to 4.

Nice job. U need dog bench pins to brace your panels against when hammering your extrusions on.
ola me conte onde consigo comprar esse perfil esse acabamento no brasil não encontrei
Why not use washers on the lid with the rivets?
+CSMedia The aluminum extrusion provides the support on both the front and back of the rivet.
Thanks, very interesting and helpful videos.
