Chris, If you are building a Road Case using 3/8" wood you would purchase our 3/8" rivets. They are long enough work on 3/8" ply + our ABS Laminate + our Aluminum Extrusions + our Road Case Hardware. Range 3/8" to 1/2" means that they will work for combined material thicknesses of 3/8" to 1/2". The same scenario would hold true for the 1/8", 1/4" and 1/2" rivets we sell. Hope this helps.
ok last question i promise...... what is the inside measurement of the extrusion? where the actual wood is supposed to fit? Is it exactly 3/8? or 13/32 ect...
Good question - The laminate does not add any significant strength. Additional strength and rigidity would be gained from the wood thickness. We'd recommend 3/8" ply would for your case.
Snapping apart the tongue and groove may be fine with your special fixture. But I am building a 6' long case and find that I am bending the hell out of my "snap apart" pieces while trying to take them apart. Its very very difficult to do well!
great video - I can't figure out what length of rivet to use. Your parts list just says " Grip Range 3/8'' to 1/2'" what does this mean? Do I need a longer rivet when I'm going through the latch + extrusion? thanks!
I would like to build an aluminum pilot case. Anyone know where I could purchase those style parts for it? Specifically the curved edges/ribs and the corner caps?
What kind of strength does abs laminate add to 1/4" plywood held together by 1/4" extrusions. its tough to decipher on ones own. I am going to build a case 33 x9x 7 top and bottom combined - wondering if I am better off going to 3/8". However my thought is that 3/8 might be too heavy for a handheld type case. . max weight might only be 8 -10 lbs.maybe even more like 3. the bowing of wood is a concern cause we all know 1/4 "ply is kinda wavy flimsy and bowie like. Any thoughts?
Id like to build an amp rack road case but like some extra help and whatever utilizes the most for the extrusions without waste and what height of wood you need to cut if you wanna use 12U 14 16U racks as id like to make a 24" box not including the covers so I have space in the box for wires and maybe close the back off with fans to suck heat out
Hi! How can I put rivets on aluminum extrusions like in Dj Laptop Slides video? it seems like no rivets there...Corners and clamps make the work? Thank you

Double Angle Extrusions don't need to be mitered. Look closely at video 6 of 11 @ about 1:03. I think Andy explains this very well. Hope this helps.
Adding everything to my cart from their website to make amp cases, it seems that buying one pre-made is cheaper. But these videos are great!
What a great video... thank you for taking the time to make it.
You've got a good eye Rick - the panels for the lid were cut about 3-1/2". Thanks for the note.
Great video! Thanks! I must have missed the reason for the screw, instead of another rivet. What's the reason?
the magic of editing! :D

Also, how can I know what size rivets to purchase?

If using a miter box, why not miter the cut to a 45°?
Extrusions are designed to accommodate standard plywood + our 0.040" ABS Laminate.
What is the max spacing for the rivets.
For double angle extrusion 12" - 18" rivet spacing is good. Thanks for the question Mario!
In the video, it's mentioned that you can use a chop saw to cut the aluminum. Any special blade or technique required?
Jim Wade aluminium can be cut with most equipment that is originally designed to cut wood.
In which store can I buy those materials, they interest me ... and I need it, can you please tell me?

Why are we cutting only the T&G extrusions at a 45° miter but cutting the double angle straight across? Shouldn't they be mitered too?
Aqui en Mexico es imposible encontrar los laminados ABS para forrar el exterios de los estuches.
what size wood are you using in this video? also what size extrsion are you you using?
please tell me the caliber to the playwood that you using?
I would like to build an aluminum pilot case. Anyone know where I could purchase those style parts for it? Specifically the curved edges/ribs and the corner caps?
can u give us a list of the parts that you used to make the case from your web site i don't care about the difference in sizes

What size of the screw if i use 1/2 inch plywood? Tia.
1/2"
Thank you bro..we're watching from manila😁
Size of the drill bit drilling through the board please
this is the part in the series where I started seeing the value of buying one pre made. lol

Is that Squints from Sandlot?
Hi! What kind of wood did you use?

How think is the wood your using
Hola y como puedo comprar con ustedes si me puedes ayudar gracias
riveting video
how much of a space between each of the rivets?

You may use either rivets or wood screws.
Playdol
wich is the size and the thick of the rivets ..??
We used our #RH-5014 3/8" pop-rivets in the video.

If I use 1/4 inch ply what size rivet do I need
Everything is 3/8". We have a materials list at ReliableHardware . com
I'd use a mitre saw and cut the aluminum with proper angle cuts .
Click "Show more" under details above for a list of parts and tools.
reliabledan como puedo comprar con ustedes
im so confused no way i can do that shit but i love what you do
Hi, I have 4- 24x18x119 4-in caster wheels ATA cases for sale. Do you know anybody that might be interested in buying those?
"A nice, clean hole." Giggity
tripping bawls
@6:30 jip, you just ruined your drill bit
brilliant camera work on the riveting. NOT!
Brilliant comment! NOT!
Hate to be the one to say so but if you don't know what a miter is then you probably shouldn't be making flight cases.
Thanks for watching.
I disagree.
Goes to crap at 3.01. I was fine to that point. Oh well.
