Bode deserves a gold medal for this. His downhill loss was probably a case of "I can't drive 55" on that easy course. That was the one where the steady- paced French guy got. Then he quit 'cause he couldn't handle real downhills. Congrats to Bode for all his many medals, esp gold in Vancouver, and for this save, which should amaze skiers for years to come.
We named are cat after Bodie. A perfect fit as they actually look a lot alike, our cat is a bit of a rebel, and only a cat could stay on it's feet llike this.
I think the thing that Bode brings to professional, competitive skiing is a sort of playfulness, devil may care attitude that those in charge should take notice of. These antics are exciting and bring a thrill to the table that could greatly expand the sports appeal while NOT truly endangering those who participate like the pathology of extreme sports which is really killing people. There is a healthier path here and Bode points they way. Thanks Bode, you the man!
he is fun to watch, he is often criticized for the same reason, i always remember the run in italy in 2005 when he went almost all the way down skiing with only one ski, it is very entertaining, but the truth is by going for all that time like that, it put him in danger of crashing and injuring himself for no reason, just for the sake of entertaining himself and the crowd. i'm still a fan, when he failed too.
in an interview he admitted that he was drunk when he did this. he spent the whole night in a pub. but what a balance he has!! on one leg... when he's drunk! wow.
his technics are agaisnt everything that ur told but he is still so good! amazing! no wonder why he is the favorite of most skiracers! that vid shows us why! btw: this might be a DH or perhaps SG but definitly no GS ;) so far
If they gave Olympic medals for best Alpine Skiing recovery Bode would have won. Unfortunately for him, all he got for that one is a DNF... lol Still, hate him or love him, you got to admit the guy can ski.
All the crap he got for what he did not do in Torino. Who knew 4 years later who would accomplish more in an Olympics that any other US male alpine ski racer.
