Memories.. I was in the studio audience .. it was a long day.. flying up to Sydney from Melbourne with the band.. then rehearsal.. then the live performance.. a great experience..unforgettable..
Wow, this clip takes me back to the wonderful 80's. There were so many great bands playing awesome fusion in so many venues. What a great time to grow up as a muso! I remember being downstairs at The Grainstore in Melbourne. Pyramid was playing and it was jam packed. I was squashed up at the front of stage, leaning on David Hirschfelder's piano, sucking on an ice cube because I had just finished my drink and didn't want to lose my spot. When all of a sudden, Bob Venier turned to me and asked me to past something to him. I was caught off guard and accidentally swallowed the ice cube. The only problem was that it was too big to go down and was stuck in my throat. I couldn't breathe until it melted enough to slide down my throat. I'll never forget that day. It was an awesome gig. Ah! the good old days.
This is just amazing! Thank you Roger for putting Pyramid's music up for us all to enjoy once again and re-live some unforgettable memories. Simply a perfect combination of musicalities. What a time!!
Thanks so much for this, Roger (and for all your videos). In 1983 I was living with two bandmates; we had the Pyramid session VHS (taped off the ABC), and we played it endlessy for months. I need to go and see if I still have that bright pink Pyramid LP!
@@RJRKM I certainly am. Digging the Stars vids too; I was a 13 year old when I saw you support ELO at Randwick Racecourse. My big brother bought Paradise the following week. I still remember hearing Mighty Rock for the time (at the gig).
RIP Don, sorely missed...it's a shame though that the flute is way too loud in the mix here, there is some great playing by the rest of the band that is too far in the background for my liking...the bass and drums especially could be more prominent
Not sure what you're hearing here. Just had another listen on my studio monitors and yes the Flute is up in the mix but i can hear the rest of the band (Bass & Drums) fine. For the record we had no control over the final mix. I guess that's live television for you. I'm so glad we at least captured the moment
