"The View reminds you why you divorced your wife." Paul, that is the most accurate summary of that Program I've ever heard. Kudos, sir. You win the day.
How dare people have public conversations about a wide range of topics that all people can watch online! Only approved topics talked about approved voices should be allowed!
Those who seek to control you only want you to think about a limited set of topics. Hence, the 'news' only reports certain things and ignores most everything else. Like Newspeak in _1984_ sought to limit thought by removing words, 'news' wants to limit your thought/cognition and thus limit your ability to rebel. If you can't think of anything except what they tell you, then you become part of the hivemind--a drone.
It's funny that anyone would take the View seriously as a source of anything factual. I recall when Whoopie Goldberg claimed on that show that WWII was only white people fighting each other. I guess everyone in East and Southeast Asia didn't get that memo.
People watch Joe Rogan because he has a curious mind and let's interesting people talk about anything and everything, share funny stories, and it's entertaining. It's more educational than most college classes nowadays.
I think Joe speaks to his audience. The dude is rich and famous now, but he still seems like a down-to-earth guy. He sometimes says stupid things, but he doesn't seem like a phony like most famous people. IMO, people crave sincerity now. There is so many phonies out there. People who couldn't care less about anything they talk about. Audiences want genuine people who don't talk down to them.
100%, with few exceptions out of respect for people like Trump, and JD Vance it's usually bro style shooting shit, smoking cigars/grass, and drinking booze over 2 or 3 hours, plus he refuses to goto the guest, they have to come to him.
To be fair, some of the weaker episodes are just the guests ( usually comics less tenured than Joe ) interviewing Joe about Joe's favorite 4-5 topics. Even Adam Sandler and Josh Brolin ended up "interviewing" Joe in their episodes. Joe helped bring back long form conversations but he's starting to become the establishment that does not want to be challenged.
@@SirBlackReeds i am big fan of Rogan but I disagree a lot with and some of his guest. I do like that he seems real. Rogan is funny and kind with his guests..

Just remember, all of these guys are friends with Rogan because they like him so much and he's such a genuine person. Keep that in mind when talking about Joe and telling the truth. He's often just spouting ideas while stoned and keeping us entertained and open minded...
The diff between Rogan and what constitutes modern journalism, is that Joe conducts fairly intimate conversations, allowing the guest to speak, and has a varied guest list. Modern journalism is about 'gotcha' clips, lock-step collective reporting, and the aire of their superiority (and total distain for being fact-checked, countered, or diminished by people with iPhones who can do better jobs reporting)
Joe just sits there, and let his guest say whatever they like. He might not agree with them, but he doesnt censor them. This is all we want from a news platform. Joe doesnt tell us what to believe, he assumes we are grown adults that can make up our own minds.
Rogan's rise to fame reminds me a lot of what happened with Rush Limbaugh in the 1990's. His fans are different, and what he does is different, but he appeals to his audience because they no longer have interest in the traditional news media. It was much the same with Rush.
The thing was, when Rush Limbaugh was on the air, you also had Mark Russell on PBS who, though very much a liberal, was poking fun at both sides of the political aisle when they deserved it. Even then Limbaugh had to work to get a conservative viewpoint heard. Nowadays PBS wouldn't dare have Mark Russell because he wouldn't be considered a reliable "ally".
@@RalphEchtinaw Does he though? Talk radio is older than the podcast, and Limbaugh actually schmoozed with Republicans. All Rogan did was convince marginal voters to vote for Trump. James Q. Wilson's warning in _A Guide to Reagan Country,_ which warned not trying to use elections to explain away developing social trends, still rings true today. By the way, marginal voters are voters on the margins, not marginalized voters.
Radio is traditional news media. Talk radio was a new _format._ By the way, don't lionize Limbaugh. He helped make Candace Owens a mainstay conservative figure despite never owning up to her Social Autopsy project, she's been a raging Anti-Semite since before she joined The Daily Wire, and she's been going out of her way to destroy Kanye West's life in order to reap the monetary rewards. Remember how he was going to buy Parler? That was part of an operation between Owens and her husband, George Farmer, the latter of whom is fabulously wealthy and still wanted West to overpay for Parler.

Thank you Chato for being a proud Canadian. And thanks for your honest takes of Joe Rogan, CBC, and the media in general. I am old enough to remember when we got our world news from distinguished men in suit jackets who spoke with integrity. It is a strange world where we get most of the important news from comics rather than journalists. Court jester syndrome perhaps?
NPR's CEO summed up (albeit cluelessly) the reason why no one takes the mainstream news media seriously when she said: “Our reverence for the truth might be a distraction getting in the way of finding common ground & getting things done.” I've liked Rogan's podcast for years (going back to his origins). Although I think he can be frustratingly dense sometimes, overall, Rogan takes the opposite of NPR's nattering nabob view of the truth. He does honest deep dives into topics and personalities that usually reveal an essence that can't be discovered in soundbite interviews (especially ones pushing ideological agendas).
I like Joe because he listens, doesnt force opinions. Is pragmatic and fact driven. A character and a bit out there on some subjects. Above all entertaining with a varied sprinkling of guests and topics. With Joe you get a chance to be heard. He,s a bit like 70,s talk show hosts used to be, but with a turbo up his arse.
A word in defense of the "regurgitators" -- Legacy Media's implosion was not due to a lack of reporting -- it was a lack of honest _editors._ The ideal editor is one who will call out a reporter on shaky logic, poor standards of evidence, and flights of emotion. This is what Tim Pool (and Jeremy Hambly) offer, and it's an extremely valuable service.
Chato really good commentary on Joe Rogan and the MSM’s issues. I think podcasts have filled the void left by talk shows going very political. You mentioned Carson and I agree I can’t think of any venue that would be more neutral these days than Rogan. Do a talk show in the US and any politician (except a Dem) will get grilled like an old style 60 minutes episode. I remember the time Senator McCain went on the view to have Rosie O’Donnell call him a liar to his face… it’s one thing to be cheerleader it’s another to don a jersey and actively play for the other team while claiming to be a referee. And that’s really the issue the press were in the past more like referees. Then they became active cheerleaders… then they dispensed with pretense and proudly run on the field of political play… now after many elections they wonder why their audience is dissipating.
I feel the fact that Rogan is willing to speak to most people about most subjects without it becoming a slinging match or overtly bias to be the reason he is being targeted. Civil if sometimes heated discussion of virtually any subject is necessary to grow as a society in a natural manner! Why such a mechanism is being discouraged is anyone's guess.
Agree with it all. Would add the big problem is both sides try to dehumanize their opponents. Like u said , case in point, the media does not want to give Trump a platform to speak. So un-American

Joe Rogan is a national treasure “because” he is a “problem.”
Dude, his audience is bigger than MSM combined. How can anyone call it 'Alternative Media' at this point. Rogan is the main stream media now.
Enough with the imping-say.
The projection from these MSM people is hilarious. 'Prey on fear. Prey of anxiety'. THE NERVE of them.
If Joe is a “ problem” imagine what they say about Tucker!
Wiliams' ignorant screed reminds me of the time Whoopi Goldberg was arguing on The View that Jill Biden would make an ideal Surgeon General, waxing poetic that she was "a great doctor" 🤣
She also said WWII was just white people fighting other white people. Apparently my ancestors in China and Vietnam were just making up everything.
@@cvonp Whoopi is the TYPICAL liberal who thinks they are more intelligent and informed than EVERYONE who doesn't think like her.
The idea of regular old people being able to make educated decisions for themselves on what to watch and believe is like a completely foreign concept to these media elites.
"The View reminds you why you divorced your wife." Paul, that is the most accurate summary of that Program I've ever heard. Kudos, sir. You win the day.
How dare people have public conversations about a wide range of topics that all people can watch online! Only approved topics talked about approved voices should be allowed!
...by approved people.
Defining "The View" as a reminder why you divorced your wife is perfect, and I intend to use it, although I'm not divorced (yet).
It's funny that anyone would take the View seriously as a source of anything factual. I recall when Whoopie Goldberg claimed on that show that WWII was only white people fighting each other. I guess everyone in East and Southeast Asia didn't get that memo.
Yes that was definitely the best joke of the video and it’s hilarioys 😂😂😂

That's dark dude. 😂
Wow - that Aussie Kim guy’s take on Rogan is the most unhinged take on Rogan I’ve heard to date! Incredible hostility & blinkered world view.
Yep, Triggernonetry is my personal favourite place to watch open and honest discussions.
People watch Joe Rogan because he has a curious mind and let's interesting people talk about anything and everything, share funny stories, and it's entertaining. It's more educational than most college classes nowadays.
Except not at all. He's an idiot and has a habit of misinforming due to ignorance. He embodies "oh, well I only read the title".
No, he's not just curious, he's over-credulous, like you, and would act like he believed something to push an agenda.

It's so simple to know why Joe Rogan is popular, he has a wide range of guests so you don't know what is going to be discussed.
100%, with few exceptions out of respect for people like Trump, and JD Vance it's usually bro style shooting shit, smoking cigars/grass, and drinking booze over 2 or 3 hours, plus he refuses to goto the guest, they have to come to him.
JRE is a conversation. Not an interview.
My favorite commentator has always been Red Green.
That the one that said, "If the ladies don't find you handsome, they should, at least, find you handy."?
keep your stick on the ice
I’m not attractive, but I’m handy!
The MSM wants you to think a certain way. Joe Rogan justs asks questions and lets the listener think whatever they want.
He also follows up his questions with things like "Why do you believe that?" "You really aren't answering my question."
How many of those listeners just nod along blindly to whatever Rogan and the guest(s) say?
@@SirBlackReeds i am big fan of Rogan but I disagree a lot with and some of his guest. I do like that he seems real. Rogan is funny and kind with his guests..
@@SirBlackReeds Unfortunately stupidity is still an unsolvable problem .
@@SirBlackReedsHow many people do that with left wing media? Joe Rogan has a variety of guests from both sides of the political aisle and has long form discussions about ideas and subjects that matter to people. Your problem is that you seem to think that people are unable or unwilling to hear varying viewpoints and then think for themselves. Just because someone disagrees with an idea doesn’t mean they’ve been tricked into that position.
These"journalists" clearly have NEVER even watched Rogan interview hundreds of scientists.
Love the boys at Triggernometry. It's been a treat to watch them grow from 50k subs to 1.2 million. Keep being awesome Chato. Love your work here as well
Chris Williamson is great. I picked up on him years ago at about 40k subs, he's over 3 million now. Very insightful, dry British wit, complete tendency away from conspiracy towards actually provable data points and long term human behavior.
It is only through Joe Rogan that I have forgiven Rob Snieder for his role in Judge Dredd. Which was a heavy ask
Joe just sits there, and let his guest say whatever they like. He might not agree with them, but he doesnt censor them. This is all we want from a news platform. Joe doesnt tell us what to believe, he assumes we are grown adults that can make up our own minds.
Love the sign Paul. Nice touch!
"The end of all we know" this is what we are living through. Mainstream is such a machine, having real conversations with people is a problem 😮 wtf
The National Press Club guy basically accused Rogan of what mainstream press does for a living
you mean the NPC?
Rogan's rise to fame reminds me a lot of what happened with Rush Limbaugh in the 1990's. His fans are different, and what he does is different, but he appeals to his audience because they no longer have interest in the traditional news media. It was much the same with Rush.
@@andywindes4968 amen I've felt this way since this summer reminds me of 1994
The thing was, when Rush Limbaugh was on the air, you also had Mark Russell on PBS who, though very much a liberal, was poking fun at both sides of the political aisle when they deserved it. Even then Limbaugh had to work to get a conservative viewpoint heard. Nowadays PBS wouldn't dare have Mark Russell because he wouldn't be considered a reliable "ally".
And now Rogan has more reach and influence than Rush Limbaugh did.

He is open to interviewing guests from all sides of the political aisle. That’s what makes his show so popular and interesting.

Our friend in Australia dislikes Mr. Rogan because he feels that should be his job. The things he accused Joe of, the mainstream media has been doing, he's simply projecting.
The issue is that Joe is now mainstream media regardless of what we call him the numbers prove that.
Trump on Mark Calaway's (The Undertaker) podcast was pretty awesome, as well.

The closest analogue to him in the past would probably be Dick Cavett and not Johnny Carson.
A word in defense of the "regurgitators" --
Legacy Media's implosion was not due to a lack of reporting -- it was a lack of honest _editors._ The ideal editor is one who will call out a reporter on shaky logic, poor standards of evidence, and flights of emotion. This is what Tim Pool (and Jeremy Hambly) offer, and it's an extremely valuable service.
How stupid are you? Tim Pool was useful stooge for the Kremlin, and Quarter Pounder (Hambly) is known to blame his wife for his personal problems.
Some people don't like the truth. Some people don't like people knowing the truth.
Agree with it all. Would add the big problem is both sides try to dehumanize their opponents. Like u said , case in point, the media does not want to give Trump a platform to speak. So un-American
He is just talking to people the media avoid. There's a reason it's called main stream media and not main stream NEWS. Because it's just that.
