    I like how you started her with the old school nacelles, then had her upgraded to the modern nacelles after the battle with the Romulans.
    Good stuff.

    Well done.
    I can still remember the 1st time that I saw the Reliant cross onto the big screen. It was love at 1st sight. The Miranda Class is one of my favorite ship designs. Its compact shape fits along with the aesthetic of the Constitution Class, but is still its own.
    I look forward to seeing more of your work.

      @daefaron 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      People honestly overstate the destruction of the Miranda class in Ds9. I once went back and counted/compared the ships destroyed of the Akira and Excelsior (an equally old class to miranda) and they were almost identical number wise.

    • @richardched6085
      @richardched6085 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@daefaron people probably care more about the Mirandas.... Those 120 year old ships are still kicking. That or the design was so well made that Starfleet kept building them for that long. Either way... seeing one get blown up or partially vaporized by a single weapon strike is heartbreaking lol.

    • @sklaWlivE

      @@richardched6085 One theory that was once floating around, was that Starfleet made up a ton of replacement parts for Constiution, Constellation and Miranda class spaceframes, in preperation for a war with the Klingons once the Organian Peace treaty was called off...instead, the first Khitomer Accords were signed and the Consitution was phased out in favour of the Excelsior...leaving Utopia Planitia and other drydocks with a looooot of extra parts laying about.
      The Miranda had a tough, compact frame and though it lacked a little in the speed department once the Excelsior came on and reset the Warp speed tables, it's design was inherently modular and easy to reconfigure, and it's dual large cargo/shuttlebays added a loooot of potentional for versatility
      Soyuz, Lantree, Britain, etc...whatever the fleet needed, it could often fill with a variant on the basic Miranda frame....and spare parts could even eventually go to colonial/mercantile/civilian use afterwards, as the Miranda got on in her years and was pulled back out of the front lines of Federation space, just like the Oberth.
      ...and Starfleet still had so many parts and mothballs left over still, that when Starfleet took a hit, like in the Cardassian War, the Klingon War, Wolf-359, and the Dominion War, it could easily and in short order, slap together Miranda and her sister classes together in no time flat as a stop gap, until the more sophisticated Akiras, Defiants, Intrepids, Sovereigns, Nebulas, etc. could be put together to replace 'em.

The track is named "Romulan Agitato". It ultimately was not used in that episode but was later tracked into another episode in season 1 called "The Alternative Factor". It was used in the scene where Lazarus starts the electrical fire in the engineering room in order to steal the Dilithium crystals. You can find all of the music for Star Trek TOS on La-La Land's box set of 15 CDs. Good use of music in this video. I enjoyed it.

    Just looking at the design for the Miranda Class Light Cruisers I've always wondered about one thing and that is where the heck is the main navigational deflector on these ships I mean the M.N.D. was designed to keep particles of space dust from colliding with the ship at either impulse power or warp speeds so does anyone have any idea where the M.N.D. is located on a Miranda Class Starship I sure would like to know.

    Nicely done. If Paramount had access to you and your computer back in 1982, they might have been tempted to save a few million on special effects. LOL I'd say your animations are at between 90% and 95% of what the best studio effects from 1982 did. A tip of the hat, Sir.

    I liked this video when I first saw it as a transition for this ship between the T.O.S. series and sometime between TMP and TWOK as it showed the Reliant undergoing 2 refits and one redesign after a disastrous battle with the Romulans and one thing I always wondered was if Terrell was captain of the Reliant or someone else was during both incedents and I also liked the new look of the Reliant shown at the end of the video as the ship was given an Excelsior Class style and look and the new redesign looked similar to that of the Enterprise B.

    Just finished the 1/1000 scale model Enterprise 1701Refit (3 week task).
    Now working on that grand lady NCC-1864 ...
    It too is a long work in progress.
    The ending was great

    Never thought of a third refit or of a new build like that. You have to do more animation with the New Reliant and show more of it off.

    Very good work. I use Blender myself and I can imagine how much work you must have put into it.
    I've just noticed too that this video is 6 years old, making it even more impressive given how much more rudimentary Blender must have been back then.
    If I had one criticism, update the explosion animations during the battles. Perhaps a remastered version 😎

    Haha, +1 for the Galaxy Quest ship. Great video, brought back the classic Trek feel, something that's been seriously lacking as of late! I would have thought the captain of the Reliant would have known better to enter the Neutral Zone without going to yellow alert though!

    I’ve always been partial to this ship.
    It’s the best looking ship imo ever designed by trek with the nebula class as a close second.
    It’s just a design that makes so much sense.
    Compact. Modular. Small profile target. Highly maneuverable compared to others ships.
    A prime example of federation engineering.

    It's weird how it said this new Reliant was built a year after the original was destroyed when you can clearly see a Defiant class in the video and the Defiant class wasn't built until almost a 100 years later by Commander Benjamin Sisko.
