Talking about Havik always makes me remember about this female NPC in Deception where she says: "You are more than welcome to stay, *only if you cause trouble* "
I love Havik's voice direction in Deception. From his wild style, you'd expect him to have a high-pitch Joker esque voice and manic speaking. Instead he has a rather calm and solemn way of speaking like a martial arts master.
Actually forgot that. Good voice acting, yeah. One thing I forgot to talk shit about is how Havik's lack of lips would actually impair him from forming vowels, so he shouldn't be able to speak properly.
I always felt Havik was like a title more so than a person. Like his personality is passed down from person to person, some with radically different ideas from the previous Havik, but all whose natures are inherently chaotic. Could explain his inconsistent goals depending on the story or reboot canon... or you can just chop it up to writers not giving a funk and just making him a completely different character whenever it suits them. He's still he's one of my favorite characters in the MK series and here's hoping he gets another chance to be around in a future game title again.
I always saw it as the culture of chaosrealm. Like since they're so fixated on chaos words of that meaning hold importance so the name Havik (as opposed to the conventional havoc) is a popular name for people in this world.
@@CynicalWarlock Yeah like Havik is this weird persona that is between Mortal and God that just transcends usual limitations just to enact his own sense of justice upon the Universe. Havik, of all characters has always felt like a person who cares more for the "Message" than his own livelihood.
@@CynicalWarlock I might give you headache on this one , the thing Havik's real name in mk1 is Dairou and he is from order realm (not talking about Titan havik that appears in the end of story mode) so does that proves your theory that may be beings who are not from chaos realm can also use entropy or may be it is mixture of blood and soul or something else , what do you think it actually is ? and also why doesn't he heal his face, can he not or he chooses not to ?
@@MischievousLoki1111 I'd say the Entropy thing would be warranted if you made it a bigger plot point. Generally, I'd remove anything remotely close to time travel from MK, but if you bake Entropy into the story, as perhaps this force that everyone's after, or this plot to reverse the entropy of the One Being or something, then it can work. Havik's scarred face is an interesting thing. Maybe he keeps it that way as a symbolic nod to chaos, or maybe it's the first trauma he suffered and it's the one he can't recover from, mentally, so he keeps the physical part to match. Havik's face is the equivalent of Joker's scars - it's a source of mystery. Oh, and non-natives to Chaosrealm can definitely practice Entropy. That's basically an alternative (and better) explanation for Geras' time powers.
Was thinking of that. A bit too.. sciency? But something something entropy, yeah. Like adapt it to sound more mythological. Speaking of, there are pleeenty of terms from mythology you could take inspiration from.
Dude this was sick, I wish Someone at NRS would see this and apply it instead of another “timeline war” like it looks like they’re gonna do. You truly make Mortal Kombat more than just a fighting game but an actual mythos. Thank you for all the work you put into this.
Yeah I feel the same way and kind of hope the creators are putting similar amount of though behind the stories although I highly doubt it even though they have already created an amazing fictional world..
In defense of ChaosRealm not having a actual name, I see it as that naming is seen as a sense of order, chaos realmers perfer not having a named realm and is called chaos realm by outsiders due to convenience, hell Havik could even have no name really and is called havik moreso due to again convenience and again given by outsiders due to being known to spread havoc, just my opinion though. Also off topic but I believe the 6 main realms are inspired by the 6 realms of buddhism with Human Realm - Earthrealm, Heaven Realm - Edenia, Hell Realm - Neatherrealm, Asura Realm - Outworld, Animal Realm - Chaos Realm, and Hungry Ghost - Seido/Order Realm
I swear I was just thinking of that. Then they should just call "Orderrealm" Seido, would enforce this even more. Also like the idea of Havik as a title given to him by way of his infamy, rather than a name he gave himself. Also nice parallel with Buddhism. The comparison fits, for the most part, except in a couple places, like Seido being the Hungry Ghost realm; intense animalistic emotions don't describe Orderrealm. Outworld more so, perhaps.
@@CynicalWarlock I pretty much agree with that 1st part. Thinking about it more, I would say Animal Realm is moreso Seido since the animal realm is known for ignorance, shelteredness, and poor judgement kind of like Seido and Hungry realm is more like chaosrealm due to like you said animalistic emotions (though asura could also fit chaosrealm due to the war themes and war being chaotic)
I love that a lot of these videos are just absolute bullshit, 100% not lore or cannon. But they make so much fucking sense it COULD be the cannon. Very well done again.
I forgot to mention. In m.k 1 characters endings are cannon . Literally one of few things I like about this game if you not still play the game check endings in y.t . Hope for future game they do this again
I am more and mkre surprised by just how many characters Mortal Kombat has. Its unreal. When I feel like that's it more just come out the wood works. I will say I am liking how you are slowly but surely making a different Mortal Kombat universe.
what I also like about havik is that he can fit into almost any role and it works (though I didn't care for his role in the MKX comic since he does mind control people and in his armageddon bio kard it's mentioned that he hates controlling others and control is a order thing), he could be a chaotic force in the story to show up and move the plot good or bad (best role for him IMO), he could out of no where help the heroes if the villain has a sense of order to him, or he could be the main villain himself and as a main villain he'd be different from the rest of the villains in the series in terms of motives. Shang Tsung - Immortality Shao Kahn - Conquer all the realms Quan Chi - Kill everyone Shinnok - Kill the elder gods and enslave all the realms Onaga - Become the one being Daegon - Kill Taven and Achieve godhood Havik - Spread Chaos to all the realms SN: Not a fan of Combining him with Dairou since I feel both are too different as characters with Havik as a pure Anarchist and Dairou as a person who had his life fucked over by both order and chaos
Spot on. Chaos should ultimately drive Havik, even if you're never quite sure what to make of him. Again, like Heath Ledger's Joker. And yeah, I said I understand where the writers are coming from, with the Havik-Dairou thing, but personally, I would've tried to actually fix Dairou, instead of giving up on him.
@@CynicalWarlock I heard from someone that they intended to add more 3d era characters into MK1 but WB was pretty limiting on who they added leading me to believe that they intended to add both characters (with Dairou being possibly either a kameo or a fighter) but due to having WB down their neck just combined the 2 characters as a compromise, my theory anyways.
@welchrebooted4739 well here's the thing. Even though they merged Havik with Dairou, this character resembles neither of them. Chaosrealm doesn't exist in this timeline. He's basically Darrius. Also, why is Darrius even doing here? 😑 Why is he doing okay, but Dairou is not? Liu Kang basically made Dairou's life even worse than before..... despite the fact that Dairou was the victim of Order/Chaos conflict.
It’s interesting that Havik’s ability might actually be able to exist on the power system. I’m not gonna lie though reverse entropy never crossed my mind I always just assumed blood.
A cool idea i had for Havik was that he could have originally been an orderrealmmer wanting to leave, so he gets a mystical relic that can make someone fully invinsible and recreate the chaosrealm (maybe he is directed by some god of chaorealm after it was taken over by orderrealm), but when anyone touches the relic, they receive visions of EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD as their ears start ringing from taking in all this information and their bodies literally melt from it. However when Havik finds an old helmet and puts it on, it compresses against his ears so hard that the ringing in his ear stops and he survives. Now with a chaorealm and his newfound invinsible, he knows all the secrets to life and believes that chaos is truly the way as he doesnt even get involved with smaller realm issues and only does big things to actually impact the realm. He isnt even that good of a fighter, but he is invinsible so he can do whatever he wants, his only weakness is if you can get the helmet off of him.
I know this is a late reply, but that's kind of his new direction in MK1, he's an lower class orderrealmer who is sick of being treated unfairly due to being a lower class citizen, hence why he starts to become a rogue anarchist who worships chaos and his one goal in the story mode is the get rid of orderrealm and recreate it as chaosrealm
-In the new timeline: Earthrealm = Rocks and Stones Outworld (because Edenia isn't allowed to be independent, like ever) = Wind Netherrealm = Fire Seido = Water -This new Havik is basically an emo version of his old self with old Darrius's motivation (political renegade) and Dairou's persona; a three-in-one. -My headcanon is that in this new timeline the realm formerly known as "Orderrealm" won 10 straight MK Tournaments against the realm formerly known as "Chaosrealm" and so merged it into itself. In the old timeline Orderrealm was trying to invade Chaosrealm to control its vast reserves of water which the latter worshipped; in this latest incarnation of the story, they won and are the highborn caste (let's call them the Yangese) over the lowborn Chaosrealm natives (the Yinasi). -A very basic suggestion: if "Seido" is to be the setting of the next game (fingers crossed), a way to differentiate it from Outworld is to have it as a technologically advanced realm instead of a mystical one. So unfortunately, and I had to sigh at this too, this probably means varying degrees of steampunk. -14:04 Funny enough, first timeline Chaosrealmers opposed merging the realms not only because it involved all realms being put under one government (Onaga's or Shao Kahn's - take your pick) but because they knew it would free the One Being, an act they called "evil". And yet in the second timeline, a dialogue between Jade and Cetrion indicates that apparently Edenians worshipped the One Being at some point??? -14:30 Exactly, that sort of hypocrisy is often found in the most complex of villains (off the top of my head example: Jigsaw aka John Kramer), but it sometimes actually makes them a bit more relatable at times. -If Havik's power is to actually reverse chaos happening to his body, I wonder what powers a Fire God Liu Kang's New Era Hotaru would have? Would he be completely invulnerable to being physically damaged? Would he make things so predictable he can anticipate any move his opponent makes?
The Yangese and the Yinasi - Subtle. I love it. :D Good lore, as far as I'm concerned. I'm cool with steampunk, and with merging the 2 fringe realms. Instead of having 2 lackluster realms, it's better to have one that's very much luster. Edenians worshipped the one being, huh? Well, as we all know, MK11 dove off a cliff in the story and lore departments, but I guess I can kinda see that - Edenians are the longest lived and their recorded history likely dwarfs that of the other realms, so it's possible that some notion of the One Being survived, through the ages, albeit heavily bastardized, and today's Edenians mistake the Being for some benevolent Edenian god, that protected them, when Edenia was young. Now those are some interesting thoughts about Hotaru. I love the idea of invulnerability, *and* making him either a seer, or more likely a master strategist, that can predict things to a T and manipulate events to make sure everything maintains whatever amounts to 'order' in his eyes. And to build on the dichotomy and irony of Havik and Hotaru, I also like the idea of Havik not causing much actual destruction or full-on evil, despite his menacing persona, sticking to mostly just hurting and rebuilding himself, while Hotaru, the master of order, ends up causing mini-genocide in order to preserve his precious order. Irony and hypocrisy galore.
@@CynicalWarlock >a master strategist with steampunk-esque tech that is basically unbeatable because he can predict every move you make and has mad damage resistance skills and inflicts genocide as part of his moral code to maintain order, even if that order is maintained by tyrants like Onaga, all without ever accepting that he might just be a massive hypocrite for doing so Oh, I think we just turned Hotaru into a combination of Slade Wilson with Dolores Umbridge's personality in Ultron's skin- uhh I mean alloy.
I think in the future that havik should be a neutral wild card that will only keep the status quo in Mortal Kombat in chaos. Also, I think it should bring back some of his moves from the 3D era to make him more unique and bring back old aspects of the character.
I like this theory. In fact, it would be interesting if Havik's supposed devotion to "Chaos" is really a cover for his own grasping at Order (bodily function, but also power over himself and others). He basically has to pull Order from other places by causing Chaos and kombat, in order to sustain himself. To elaborate, what if Havik is like Shang Tsung, but instead of stealing souls, he steals Order. And Chaosrealm was not always called "Chaosrealm", but either Havik himself, or a priestly caste, had discovered this ability and brought their entire realm into disorder in order to achieve immortality, duping the population. The organized priesthood we see in Deceptions konquest mode, who bow before a temple seem very orderly no? And maybe Havik and his Choas Priests have done this to the literal planet/realm they live on. In Konquest we see that the entire world looks like it is collapsing on itself. Havik (and maybe others) have been stealing Order from realm itself, giving themselves more and more power.
@@CynicalWarlock all three phrases were inspired by the originals in SC1 but I suppose it's easy to mix-up timelines with all the sand and lightning from that previous vid of yours😁
Ur videos are awesome. U make me love mortal kombat more and for reasons it doesn't deserve 😭 headcannons is carrying this franchise ong till NRS can get their act together
They should've fused Darrius and Havik and had Dairou as a kameo fighter who sides with Havik first, but after realizing his chief's insanity, joins the good guys to stop him. While it also would've been weird, it at least redeems Dairou, and people will start to appreciate this character a lot more than before. It also makes the use of Darrius, who didn't do much in both timelines. Okay, what did he do? ....... He showed up in Deception's Conquest (years before the main event happened) then joins the Forces of Darkness in Armageddon, and that's it. He never did any impact on the stories he was in, which makes you question why he was even created in the first place. At least, according to some bios in the old lore, Havik and Darrius were allies, and they both hated order, regime, and Hotaru, so fusing these two makes more sense than Dairou/Havik fusion.
I absolutely despise MK12's version of Havik. Depicting the cleric of chaos as an edgy angsty emo does nothing for me. That and combining Dairou and Havik into one character, which to me, is disrespectful to both characters. I agree that having his true intentions mostly hidden from the audience to be the best way to go, but I also think that the writers should know themselves where to take the characters as to not write themselves to a corner. Not that NRS would care about long term story writing anyway.
I absolutely love that you called it 'MK12'. And yeah, I pretty much agree with everything you wrote. Working *with* characters is always better than against them, and having at least a rough plan for a character is essential, even if you never overtly communicate it to the audience. That's why actors and directors spend a lot of time making up comprehensive backstories for their characters, which are never communicated to the viewers at all. It's purely there to help them write and act those characters better.
I like his gameplay, and I like the story potential that he can have. Havoc actually inspired one of my very own characters, at least in terms of abilities, so I do appreciate him for existing.
This video itself is chaos, thank God u acknowledge that. I like how many times I had to rewatch it only to end up not getting it but the more I watch your vids the more I understand your powers system or you are just really good at selling shit. Didn't know I'd find humor in roasting and curses til I watched your vids. My favorites are your envisioning of chaos realm then "actually that is something that we do" throwing out other potential shit names for the realms and also the wolverine joke. Nice vid all in all although it was a mess
Dude, I saw that movie with a group of friends. There were 2 couples in the group; they did not make it past that scene, and it kinda set the tone for the entire evening. Talk about misusing the power of films.
I've wondered what Havik's element classification would be since the power system video (such a great topic). I was also leaning towards blood magic, but never considered Entropy - very intriguing explaination, and fits Havik very well.
It's funny cause, initially, I berated myself for forgetting to add Havik to the Blood category, in that video, but his suspicious absence worked out, since he's, in my mind, more complex than a simple Blood user.
9:51 ❤ BEST saga ever. As an interest note the pillars and the sorcers didnt use the normal elements like :earth, wáter, fire, etc They use: - time - energy - mind - dimension - nature - conflict - death - states( solid, liquid, gas) Which its really original and philosofic. You should speak about the power level on the series, or just the lore in general its a beutifull series 😁
My man! This might be the first time someone got my LoK references. The Pillars/Guardians were for sure associated with some very interesting concepts. And they also tied it back to the elements, cause Raziel would absorb them in pairs and form Fire, Earth, Light, Dark etc. I'm more of a fan of Kain's abilities, though. Playing around with the Dimension, Time, Flame and Lightning Reaver charges was so much fun (talking about Defiance, obviously). And don't worry, I've long planned to start doing Legacy of Kain videos. If any one series deserve the attention, it's that one.
Would LOVE to hear you spitball and speculate on the Mid-Credits scene of MK1 regarding Havik. There's a lot it seems they're setting him up for, but there's also so so so much to unpack about the event that marks the end of the game and the fallout. Great video
Watched the mid-credits scene just now. Havik would make for a good villain, although a) I'd still preferably keep him as more of a wild card, and b) I don't trust NetherRealm to stick the landing with him, especially since it looks like one multiverse bonanza wasn't enough for them.
@@CynicalWarlock Yeah. Personally, I'm wanting Sub-Zero to become the new big bad on Earthrealm, but now that Shang and Quan-Chi are dead(????????????) I do think Havik coming in as overall big bad in order to produce more Armageddon events could at least be something.
@CynicalWarlock He's like a cross between Joker and Cogliostro (from spawn), that could turn into a giant humanoid crow monster. That's where Havik (as well as other Chaosrealmers) originally got his regenerative abilities and the power to contort his body, from.
Love this video. I'm an xmen fan and i do have an explanation for Logan's regen and his offspring and clones. the movies doesnt make good on this because no one ever really bothered to explain logans regen in the past uptill recently. wolverines healing factor speed depends on his calorie intake. The x-gene itself is theorized(By Apocalypse/Revelation and Dr. Doom) that x-genes are connected to various universes/dimensions where mutants can draw power from.
Which is such an 'out there' explanation. Turns Wolverine into an interdimensional being, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. I think if you just showed him stuffing his face a little more, it would be enough of an explanation.
My ideas for chaos and order realms js that their inhabitants have to constantly move between the two realms because being in them for too long will turn you mad or so apathetic you can barely break out of your routine
That's actually interesting. Havik, then, could be someone who got stuck in Chaosrealm too long, and grew powerful, but mad with the heat, as a result.
I'm actually stunned that I see there is another person who like me is both into quantum physics and all deep existential matters and at the same time into Mortal Kombat. I guess I'm not that weird after all :D :D
an interesting theory. I like it, it helps give more depth to a otherwise shallow character. And yea Chaosrealm is a very dumb name, atleast Orderrealm is also called Seido and Nightara's realm is called Vaetarnus (better than Vampire Realm...or Nightmare Matrix.....which her MK1 ending looks like the Matrix and Daybreakers (abit of Blade Trinity with human blood bags tied to technology....perhaps they should lean into that, that Seido, Earthrealm and Vaetarnus are the few realms that have some form of technology
I mean if they applied Chaosrealm's naming scheme to all the other realms, Vaeternus would be Suctionrealm, Outworld would be Steroidrealm, Earthrealm would be Protagonistrealm, Netherrealm would be Hellrealm, and Edenia would be Onlyfansrealm.
Oh boy, this is all starting to make sence now... With all these ideas I think you improved atleast 50% of mk's worldbuilding, if not more. If only, if only...
When i saw the thumbnail and read the title my first thought was just "Chaos ?" I mean it makes sense in a certain way dosnt it ? Why should the power of literal chaos be at all related to any other power or explainable in any way other than "Fuck it we ball" And while i rly like that i also have to admit that your theory for it is also super cool. Shame that hes just gonna be another jobber and another "Final boss" that does exactly fuck all in the long run as all his actions are undone by just hitting him rly hard. Comparing Deception Havik and MK1 Havik is like comparing the Joker of Arkham and the Joker of Suicide Squad.
I mean Chaos, Entropy, we're both getting at the same thing. And like I said, I want to keep Havik a bit of a mystery character too. That last comparison gives me PTSD; played the shit out of the Arkham games. Seeing what they did with Kill the Justice League convinces me that Satan is at the head of Warner Bros.
I like the idea that Chaosrealmers are practically immortal because of their regeneration skills, but die unnaturally to making stupid fatal decisions thanks to their chaotic lifestyles 😀 I don't think Chaosrealm is meant to be understood, it's a concept beyond human understanding since we are so used to order and nature having one... Their bodies literally fall apart because their organs can't function in a proper order. The regeneration would be an evolutionary adaptation then 🤔
I love the evolutionary angle; it explains a lot. I've also been entertaining this idea of having Chaosrealm not really resemble a realm, like the others, but more like a kind of irregular blob of space, mass and connective tissue that borders and snakes around all the other realms. Would tie into your idea of Chaosrealm being beyond understanding, and.. well.. chaotic. It also, then, makes that much more sense to name this thing "the void", or "pandemonium" or some shit.
Good question, and a good theory. The only hole is the flavor of the character - Geras isn't a Chaosrealm native, nor does he strike me as the type to indulge in chaos in that way. And what he and Kronika do is literally rewind time for anyone, so that's another difference. But it's still a solid explanation. The other possible explanation I discussed in a dedicated Geras video.
I assume Geras and Kronika control both the destructive and creative aspects of time. Havik (minus powerups from Blaze) can't seem to reverse or induce entropy for anyone but himself.
One of thr most nuanced video on havik i have ever watched. I like the idea of chaos and order gods being the same god Nrs studios have a lot of potential with hotaru and havik but they never do it Atleast titan havik would be a *force* to be reckoned with (see what i did there)
Ngl, I don't think I was ever sold on Zombie Jonkler. Until now. Yet another great character study. *Announcer voice: "WELL DONE!" And, ya know, when you mentioned his power set, it reminded me a little of Shujinko, and how he's a bit like the Avatar in that he can do a little of everything... kinda. Imagine if he was like the Anti-Shujinko (or antagonist, as Shujinko is just Japanese for "protagonist" lmao) except he can use a lot of these different powers that don't seem to make sense because he stole a couple priceless artifacts and added elemental powers onto his blood/soul powers. Or the artifacts are powered by blood/soul sacrifices. Could also be poetic if both he and Shujinko were serving Damashi/Onaga, and/or the One Being, if only by extension. P.S: the comedy was strong with this one once again. 😂
Thank you, thank you. Some "OUTSTANDING" ideas in your comment, as well, like making them both unwitting, unknowing servants of Shujinko. And yeah, if 4 realms are the 4 elements and the remaining 2 are entropy, then Shujinko represents the former, while Havik represents the latter.
@@CynicalWarlock It's a choice between bringing peace and Order by accidentally merging/destroying the Realms or achieving Chaos and entropy by... merging and destroying the Realms. XD That could lead to a big "oh shit" moment where both Havik and Shujinko realise they've been japed, swindled and utterly bamboozled, and they begrudgingly team up/gang up on Onaga in an epic tag-team match! (Yes, they must bring that shit back. Also, Konquest would be kool to see again in a new game.)
@@robertminnie782 Now I can't stop picturing the most awesome, unhinged, unconventional tag team: the man with a million powers & the man who cannot die, vs the anthropomorphic dragon conqueror.
1. So continuing from my comment on your "Revitalize Mortal Kombat" video, does this mean that if Bi-Han never became Noob Saibot and Hanzo never went to the Netherrealm, Havik would actually been Noob Saibot (you do say "noob" at one point)? (Speaking of which, perhaps 10:00-10:08 can simply be Havik having been the one from the Netherrealm.) 2. Alternatively, we keep to your 5 elements theory, making entropy Mortal Kombat's equivalent to aether/chi, meaning soul manipulation is not a combo of 4 but of 5. Or perhaps entropy is simply a power granted to Orderrealmers and Chaosrealmers by the being both worship, giving Havik another reason to master entropy - to escape the irony you described.
You mean in an alternate timeline? You could play it that way, sure, but Havik is a Chaosrealmer; he has nothing to do with the Netherrealm, and he seems unable to die, so he probably doesn't even know how to get there. I still haven't played M1K's full story mode, so I have no clue why Kuai has fire powers, how he got them, who's supposed to be Noob Saibot, or any of that stuff. Regarding your second point, yeah, that's what I was going for - Entropy being a separate from all the other powers. Might have something for you, though: you asked about types of fire, last time, and I can definitely think of a couple, like Hellfire and Dragonfire. Hellfire would be the hottest and most dangerous, used by Scorpion, while Dragonfire is the next best thing, used by dragons, dragonborn, Onaga, and people who maybe have small trace genes of dragons, like Liu Kang.
@@CynicalWarlock me too stages in mk1 seem like such a downgrade from former nrs titles and it’s like they don’t even matter which stage u pick they all r the same.
The main reason I loved Havik from the older games was because I appreciated that he did live up to his title. Someone's already mentioned how calm his voice was, and I think his voice was probably one of the more unique ones I still remember to this day. I genuinely wanted to know more about Chaosrealm because of the small world-building during my time there. When he isn't being a menace with the Blood Stabby, he seeme like he'd probably have some spirited debates with Kitana. ....let me cook... You know that quote Kitana says from the old movie: "Use the element which brings life."? What if he could have been a mentor to Kitana at one point as well? Since Edenia is abundant in resources (and water in some cases), there was a water god (Sub-Zero game, I think they were an Elder God on top of that?), there's just some fun ideas to play with just with that. I'm aware that sounds like fanfiction-level straw-grasping, but still. ;-;
I mean you're in fan fiction city, so it's warranted. I do like to dig into this kind of ancient aliens, mythological aspect. Edenians could have a water god that they used to worship, and Chaosrealmers could have a chaos god that they used to bow down to. Turns out it's the same god, he/she is just remembered differently. Not too different from actual religions, most notably Christianity, where people kept selecting writings and gospels that they wanted to promote and discarded the ones that conflicted with their ideals and propaganda.
I swear, if NRS don't watch your videos and start seriously thinking about incorporating some of them in the lore of MK, then they deserve the chaos that they've plunged this series into. Pun intended.
I always thought Dairou as sort of a border line on the sliding scale between chaos and order. The scale sliding from left to right. So Chaos to Order is Havik, Darrius, Dairou, Hotarou. (Starting to notice they both have H's and D's in the beginning of their names...) Havik True Chaos, Darrius Rebel, Dairou is just doing his job so he's abiding by his code of Honor, and finally Hotarou who is True Order. It might even showcase the interchangeability of Order and Chaos, as neither have truly permanent roles. Order leading to Chaos and Chaos leading to Order.
The H & D initials is a good find. And yeah, that's what I'm thinkin as well: that Chaos and Order are 2 sides of the same coin, just like how destroying something creates something else, and vice versa.
Nice video on havik how about maybe in the future video talk about earthrealm technology that use by human fighter like maybe cybernatics or firearms to keep up with otherworldly fighter who have magic or supernatural powers
As a long time Final Fantasy fan the Chaos-topic has never truly been really a mystery for me anymore. As my favourite example (and one of the best game of all time) in Dissidia Duodecim the polarizing powers of Harmony and Discord were always at a struggle. It is the concept of the universe, a formula beyond earthly standards (such as the usual elemental system) and gravity and far more meta. The thing that always bothered me in media is that Chaos is not particularly "evil". Entropy is the reason life exits to begin with. The same goes for Harmony. Too much of one thing ruins the balance and things end in death and destruction this or the other way. I think your character-analysis on Havik being actually a powerhungy sociapath hiding behind the curtain of his self-acclaimed chaos religion is absolutely correct. The Anti-Thesis to Havik is in my opinion Happy Chaos (from Guilty Gear Strive). Happy Chaos is indeed a "chaotic" being BUT celebrating life. He just does it for his own entertainment and this entertainment can only be sustained by keeping the entropy at a healthy level.
Yeah well that's why Dungeons & Dragons has a 2-axis alignment system, one for good-evil, one for lawful-chaos. You can totally be chaotic good, or lawful evil; or heck, even chaotic neutral doesn't mean you're evil, that's just your average barbarian. Order and Chaos are interesting concepts in fiction, when done right.
For his regeneration I always figured that so long as the damage is self inflicted he can regenerate automatically almost like Deadpool or Wolverine but if he takes damage from others it could take days to recover unless it’s severely fatal like obliterating his heart or brain.
I heard a theory that ‘Chaosrealm’ actually isn’t a name, but more of a description. The whole dimension being so anarchic and disorganized that it doesn’t even have a proper name, so everyone else just called it ‘the chaos realm’ until it became solidified as ‘Chaosrealm’
It would be cool if Havik was the sole denizen of chaosrealm and was the immortal personification of the realm itself That would solve a lot of problems. Like not indulging in any order like building a table or something since it's just him (maybe he stole everything). The realm name could also be called havikrealm. Also, he wouldn't really need a backstory or traditional motivation since he is literally the embodiment of chaos
I do like that idea, because Havik's broken powers already portray him as kind of a god. It would be that much cooler if you introduce him early without fanfare, and people don't think much of him, but over time, he starts to affect the plot more and more, then finally reveals himself as a dark god.
I always saw Logan's healing factor as just basically deadpool's cancer controlled. The body heals naturally so to me wolverine's body is just super accelerated in that way that was actually mutualistic, not cancerous. I understand that's not how biology and physics work but that explaination was an obvious Occam's razor to me.
Well Deadpool's in the same bind, because to heal that fast requires exorbitant amounts of energy. Tumors grow, but they don't grow that fast - you wouldn't have any tissue left on your body.
I don’t know if Hotarou would be too broken up by the revelation of both forces being "one and the same coin" it might just embolden him. He may come to the conclusion that this simply showcases the ineffectiveness of Chaos, that like Order, it cannot escape the crushing forces of absolution. After all, in the end of Armageddon, he sought to serve the Dragon King, (ironic a knight serving a dragon) believing he would restore order to the realms, yet going so far as to up end the natural order of the realms.

After all, in the end of Armageddon, he sought to serve the Dragon King, (ironic a knight serving a dragon) believing he would restore order to the realms, yet going so far as to up end the natural order of the realms. The ultimate plot twist ending, both Havik and Hotarou don't really care about the cosmic battle between order and chaos and are both just secretly high level trolls.
Since he's gonna be the main villain of the next aftermath story expansion for MK12, I hope you get to see Chaos Realm because This Havik has nothing to do with his original counter part this one real name is Dairou and he's and anarchist for some reason
I never really liked the title "Cleric of Chaos" for Havik because this implies a religious institutional order or ranking system. If they're going to go with a title, I would call him an "Anarch" rather than "Cleric," which would be a completely meaningless title that applies to anyone in Chaosrealm (or elsewhere) who chooses to take it. Therefore, if Havik were to somehow be irreparably killed, there would be a ready supply of other Anarchs to fill his role, each with their own unique power set and motivations. What would stop an army of Anarchs from just banding together and storming the realms all at once? Lack of organization, obviously. The fact that you're unlikely to run into more than one Anarch at a time is a natural check on their power that prevents their forces from becoming too overwhelming -- while the fact that individual Anarchs are scattered all over the place, and denizens of other realms may choose to embrace Chaos and take up the Anarch mantle, makes it equally difficult to wipe them all out.
That makes sense, and based on that, I wouldn't give him any title, really. Going back to the Joker comparison, Joker is a complete unknown, no titles or background just makes him even scarier and more effective, cause you can't do a psych profile on him, and he doesn't care about retaining any position or specific role, in an organization.
@@CynicalWarlock. Probably left other comments here. For now, the guy should look and fight like RinShi, wich are basically like chinese vampires! Also, why does stupids like the fourth snake think someone called quan Chi(chinese word for life force)shouldn't have resurrection talents? Whack?
@@erikbihari3625 Didn't know he thinks that. Maybe people associate Shang with Soul and resurrection stuff and they don't want the 2 sorcerers to be redundant to one another, so perhaps that's where it comes from. Even MK: Conquest (a show I really like) made it a point to let you know that Quan doesn't know how to steal souls. I think the best middle ground is to have Quan be this expert necromancer, who specializes in summoning minions and using Soul manipulation that way, while Shang foregoes minions and absorbs Souls directly, turning himself into a one-man army. Rinshi are actually good inspiration for Quan. I can see why you associated the 2 together.
@CynicalWarlock . Appearently, his(Quan Chi)reason behind forming the"Deadly Alliance"was that you need stored souls for reanimation, like necro batteries. And his(the 4th snake)disdain also because netherealm basically made shang tsung into loser, and give quan chi all his accomplishments and roles(have whole video about this, but youtube ices comments when links are detected)until the hard course correction with ten(roman;)! Was also thinking about making his red alternate costume the default while keeping his power copying ability. Speaking the red suit, that was another reason why picked RinShi, because that costume looks really simular, And conquest already had some superficial sentai/rangers simularity! See Godzilla mendoza?
Here’s a fun thought for you. What if the god that Havik worships, is actually Kronika, or possibly better, she is a part of the god he worships. Her whole shtick is time manipulation. She wants order and so reverses time, but fails to see that in that order, chaos is allowed to thrive.
I'm not a fan of Kronika, but that's a pretty smart connection. Perhaps Havik doesn't even know what he truly worships, just as Kronika doesn't know that she's an enabler for chaos, or that she's part of a greater god, which is another interesting thought.
Great video and an interesting view of the character. So entropy will be a fifth primordial force of nature among fire, water, earth and air, right? I hope the writer's intentions with this character are at least somewhat close to this video *copium*.

@@CynicalWarlockTo be fair, it's Havik
I don't think he much cares about proper anatomy
I also like the idea that 'Havik' is just a name given to him by others; he himself doesn't give a shit.
The fact that joker and havik are friends in jokers tower ending in mk11 makes the comparison to joker way more plausible than ever
Facts. That pairing was dope.
I'd name Chaosrealm Entropy honestly, it fits
Was thinking of that. A bit too.. sciency? But something something entropy, yeah. Like adapt it to sound more mythological. Speaking of, there are pleeenty of terms from mythology you could take inspiration from.
Dude this was sick, I wish Someone at NRS would see this and apply it instead of another “timeline war” like it looks like they’re gonna do. You truly make Mortal Kombat more than just a fighting game but an actual mythos. Thank you for all the work you put into this.
That's disgustingly nice of you. Thanks.
Thinking about it more, I would say Animal Realm is moreso Seido since the animal realm is known for ignorance, shelteredness, and poor judgement kind of like Seido and Hungry realm is more like chaosrealm due to like you said animalistic emotions (though asura could also fit chaosrealm due to the war themes and war being chaotic)

what I also like about havik is that he can fit into almost any role and it works (though I didn't care for his role in the MKX comic since he does mind control people and in his armageddon bio kard it's mentioned that he hates controlling others and control is a order thing), he could be a chaotic force in the story to show up and move the plot good or bad (best role for him IMO), he could out of no where help the heroes if the villain has a sense of order to him, or he could be the main villain himself and as a main villain he'd be different from the rest of the villains in the series in terms of motives.
Shang Tsung - Immortality
Shao Kahn - Conquer all the realms
Quan Chi - Kill everyone
Shinnok - Kill the elder gods and enslave all the realms
Onaga - Become the one being
Daegon - Kill Taven and Achieve godhood
Havik - Spread Chaos to all the realms
SN: Not a fan of Combining him with Dairou since I feel both are too different as characters with Havik as a pure Anarchist and Dairou as a person who had his life fucked over by both order and chaos
Blood and Guts, like I said.
Havik spinoff game, confirmed.
You gotta do a classification video on sector's matrix ability

I mean... he's a cyborg... so... you know... it's technology, not magic?
-In the new timeline:
Earthrealm = Rocks and Stones
Outworld (because Edenia isn't allowed to be independent, like ever) = Wind
Netherrealm = Fire
Seido = Water
-This new Havik is basically an emo version of his old self with old Darrius's motivation (political renegade) and Dairou's persona; a three-in-one.
I love it. :D
Good lore, as far as I'm concerned.
@@CynicalWarlock
>a master strategist with steampunk-esque tech that is basically unbeatable because he can predict every move you make and has mad damage resistance skills and inflicts genocide as part of his moral code to maintain order, even if that order is maintained by tyrants like Onaga, all without ever accepting that he might just be a massive hypocrite for doing so
Oh, I think we just turned Hotaru into a combination of Slade Wilson with Dolores Umbridge's personality in Ultron's skin- uhh I mean alloy.
@@LOWBORN-the-LOATHSOME This brainstorming is fun. Hotaru = Deathstroke + Umbridge is spot on.
I think in the future that havik should be a neutral wild card that will only keep the status quo in Mortal Kombat in chaos. Also, I think it should bring back some of his moves from the 3D era to make him more unique and bring back old aspects of the character.
Completely agree. Havik ultimately being alligned with pure chaos means he'll have a bone to pick with absolutely everyone, at some point.
yes
Something something. Using one goal to cloak the other; it's an interesting angle, to me.
Crazy, but interesting idea.

Agreed. Darrius is one of the hardest characters to salvage, but Dairou actually has a good enough backstory to work with.

As an interest note the pillars and the sorcers didnt use the normal elements like :earth, wáter, fire, etc
They use:

Which its really original and philosofic.

My man! This might be the first time someone got my LoK references.
The Pillars/Guardians were for sure associated with some very interesting concepts.

Your vid's are a breath of fresh air to me 💪
Fresh air is important, yes.
Loved that Tenet comparison.
You could play with that concept nicely, in this universe.
Are Geras too manipulate entropy?
Good question, and a good theory.
The only hole is the flavor of the character - Geras isn't a Chaosrealm native, nor does he strike me as the type to indulge in chaos in that way. And what he and Kronika do is literally rewind time for anyone, so that's another difference. But it's still a solid explanation.
The other possible explanation I discussed in a dedicated Geras video.
I assume Geras and Kronika control both the destructive and creative aspects of time. Havik (minus powerups from Blaze) can't seem to reverse or induce entropy for anyone but himself.

*Announcer voice: "WELL DONE!"
And, ya know, when you mentioned his power set, it reminded me a little of Shujinko, and how he's a bit like the Avatar in that he can do a little of everything...
XD
That could lead to a big "oh shit" moment where both Havik and Shujinko realise they've been japed, swindled and utterly bamboozled, and they begrudgingly team up/gang up on Onaga in an epic tag-team match! By the way love watching your videos.
That's awesome; glad you enjoy them.
1. So continuing from my comment on your "Revitalize Mortal Kombat" video, does this mean that if Bi-Han never became Noob Saibot and Hanzo never went to the Netherrealm, Havik would actually been Noob Saibot (you do say "noob" at one point)? (Speaking of which, perhaps 10:00-10:08 can simply be Havik having been the one from the Netherrealm.)
They should bring back that beach stage for mk1
Deception has some awesome stages.
I really miss stage transitions and fatalities.
@@CynicalWarlock me too stages in mk1 seem like such a downgrade from former nrs titles and it’s like they don’t even matter which stage u pick they all r the same.
The main reason I loved Havik from the older games was because I appreciated that he did live up to his title. Someone's already mentioned how calm his voice was, and I think his voice was probably one of the more unique ones I still remember to this day.
I genuinely wanted to know more about Chaosrealm because of the small world-building during my time there.
When he isn't being a menace with the Blood Stabby, he seeme like he'd probably have some spirited debates with Kitana.
....let me cook...
You know that quote Kitana says from the old movie: "Use the element which brings life."? What if he could have been a mentor to Kitana at one point as well?
Since Edenia is abundant in resources (and water in some cases), there was a water god (Sub-Zero game, I think they were an Elder God on top of that?), there's just some fun ideas to play with just with that.
I'm aware that sounds like fanfiction-level straw-grasping, but still. ;-;
I mean you're in fan fiction city, so it's warranted.

@@CynicalWarlock Crap. Didn't think about that one. Guess we're all doomed, then.
Yes, that's been requested more than I thought it would be.

That would definitely explain it gameplay-wise.. just not, you know, why he can't heal from external wounds just as well as from his own.

Yeah, maybe it's not even a full realm, just the barely hospitable connective tissue *between* realms.
Couldn't entropy fall under the Time element?
Good question.
It would be cool if Havik was the sole denizen of chaosrealm and was the immortal personification of the realm itself
That would solve a lot of problems.

Your storyline is better than what nrs made lol
Mission accomplished, then.
