Yo, I forgot characters had lava such a underutilized element. I’m not gonna lie. I basically see it nowhere in fiction other than a few subseries, and even fewer popular series avatars like the only one that ever comes to mind.

Your technique is useless on me!" -Kinda like how Rain's main element is Water but he has some capacity over Wind and Fire to create Lightning, Tremor's main element is Earth but he has secondary power over Fire (or at least with inducing heat on his element) to control Earth in its Metallic and Magmatic forms (and I assume Tremor can also pressurize it to such a degree to produce Crystalline forms). -If Cetrion controls all four Western 🇺🇸🇪🇺🇦🇺🇨🇦 elements separately AND Soul at the same time, I expect she's not an adept user of the secondary/compound elements (Illusion, Shadow, Force, Sand, Smoke, Lava) or even the tertiary compound elements (Blood, Lightning) not only for balance reasons but because the users of the said hybrid elements don't always control them separately, but rather as just one thing. Let me put it this way, Tremor throwing a lava ball is just one singular efficient motion, faster than Cetrion pulling up a boulder with Earth and igniting it with Fire. Now, if there were only a kombatant that was a complete freak of nature that ONLY controlled compound elements and lacked basic understanding of the primary ones, well...

There isn't necessarily any crossover between mastering the component parts of a kompound and mastering the kompound itself. There can be, but it's not the norm.
In my head, the explanation for Tremor's elemental abilities is that he's an idiot-savant who just happened to be freaking Rain Man when it came to that one thing. A guy who stomps around, smashing rocks and yelling "I will crush you!" while also theoretically being *a ninja* doesn't exactly scream "competence" to me. My question about Cetrion is, can she be fixed?
Man the way people talk about Termor is like he is the Second Coming of Jesus. And I can see why. He just looks and feels like a guy who does not care. But to the topic of the video. I love lava powers because it looks so great. It has the weight of earth powers but the effect of fire. So, its cool to se MK have some of that. Also I just want to point out that I found it so funny when you had your avatar on screen two times and the other one was looking at the other one with confusion. That was a nice touch.
Tremor is so cool bro 😭 my headcannon is that tremor is legitimately crazy strong but hes also super goofy so he just always gets held back by his love for Cage films. Im glad NRS still keep him in mind. As much as i want him to be playable again, i hope they include him more story wise in the future

It's sad when the writers' excuse for cetrion's weakness is her heart not been in the right place(thought u were actually gonna skip her) U were starting to get cringe when u said hotaru had fire in his eyes then u explained the metaphor and it made sense(he also had a nice intro) Tremor is a character I never personally liked but I have more appreciation for him now, would love for him to become a more impactful character later on. Interesting video. I've always assumed that Hotaru just used his yellow lightning powers because of Kenshi ending. Never considered it to be a lava power. I guess I didn't pay attention cause I didn't like Hotaru as a character. It's kinda funny how Hsu Hao and Mavado, despite both being hated by the MK community, had played the bigger roles in Deadly Alliance than most Deception newcomers. If you cut Hotaru, Kobra, Kira, Ashrah, Darrius and Dairou out of the story, I don't think anything would really change. 🤷♂️

Anything’s possible if given more time to flesh out, and we don't get a lot of time spent in Orderworld unfortunately.

You see the similarities: both were vigilantes (MK3 Kabal and MKA Kenshi), both were invalid characters (one with horrific scars on his face, and the other is blind), and both had a beef with Mavado. I don't know why, but I've always felt that John Vogel (story writer for 3d era games) did ruin Kabal on purpose because he wanted to prop up his own OC character (Kenshi). Keep in mind, Kabal is John Tobias' boy, while Kenshi is John Vogel's boy. The idea is that Kenshi is definitely a good guy, while Kabal is a bad guy,..... that's the total John Vogel thing to do.

I LOVE Tremor. I love that he’s now a Kameo because I have a reason to form a better synergy with him and Barraka because dear god the options combined with Baraka’s meter build, bleed and chip damage is terrifying. Him being able to manipulate earth and other elements along with it shows he has such mastery of earth that it becomes the foundation for other elements used. I can actually see him becoming a major threat when gaining enough knowledge of other elements to meld with earth. He’d leave the black dragon to go on a journey to learn, and eventually becomes an evil earth god that decides return to the black dragon to flatten any opposition to their power. I can see him being captured and imprisoned in the temple of elements, but eventually, after some time in meditation, he breaks himself out using the techniques he’s learned to meld with the earth in his own body.
Why is lava a kompound element. It should just be earth. When pressure rises so does temperature, so an earth user could just compress earth till it heats up

I bow in return, to a fellow MK enthusiast. My whole deal is that more emphasis should be placed on the lore, characters and story, rather than the gore and shock value. Nice to find people who share that sentiment.
Looks a lot like fireworks, which are tough to ascribe to 1 or 2 elements. Simplest possibility would be Fire. Other possibilities get progressively more complicated.
Tremor is definitely one of my favorite characters, it's just so cool how just by being an expert in one element, he can control so many things like lava, metal, gold, etc. In some future Mortal Kombat I would like him to come back showing all his power, maybe one of his fatalities could be him attracting meteors from space and throwing them at his opponent, or fuck it, throw the fucking moon at him lol. Hotaru is a character with tons of potential, I hope he comes back someday. The relationship he had with Onaga was very interesting in my opinion, it was fun to see how someone who serves order and you would think he works for good, is actually working for the bad guys, and Havik, who is his total opposite, his goal is to bring chaos to all worlds and you would think he is the more evil of the two, actually turns against Onaga and works with the good guys (although we later found out he had a plan to revive Shao). The only negative thing about his character in my opinion was when he imprisoned Shujinko, that definitely made him lose popularity. If he were to come back, I would imagine him as a calm guy, being the best talker in the franchise, talking in prow and reciting poems constantly or something. Also him having something to do with the creation of Dark Raiden, as the two are about keeping order. His design is cool, having a firefly theme, as that signifies his name. His armor is cool, and the flags on his back are meant to look like wings. What I would do is that him not looking so much like Fujin. And lastly Cetrion, she is definitely the worst of the three, a mistake in general, her whole concept I don't like. Her design is ridiculous, she looks nothing like a Mortal Kombat character. They should have made her look more like Raiden or Fujin, human appearance but with the aesthetics of a god, with white eyes, and maybe leave the stones floating behind her back. Her powers are very boring, making her the Avatar and having her be able to control all the elements was definitely a mistake. She can throw fire? Scorpion already does that, Liu Kang too, also Kobra, and Taven, Kai, Tanya, should I go on? Huh, she can throw rocks? That's just Tremor. She throws water? That's Rain's whole thing. She can pull metal blades out of the ground? Oh wow, I guess no one's ever done that before... oh wait, Kabal already has that in MK3... What they should have done is make her like Poison Ivy, controlling plants, roots, also being able to control wood. There's no Mortal Kombat character that controls natura yet, and that could have been Cetrion. Very good video, you are definitely one of the best Mortal Kombat channels, I'm going to start watching your videos more often.
Agree with every word; great analysis. Hotaru's unlikely allegiance with Onaga highlights the kind of thinking that leads to fascism and military states. And you're right, he does resemble a little too much for comfort; never thought about that. Cetrion's abilities could've been worse, I suppose, but her visual design is one of the worst in any MK game, and that's saying something. Tremor's just a badass. I kinda like keeping his character simple, that's sort of his ethos, but by the elder gods, give him a *little* more to work with. Thanks so much for the feedback; glad you enjoy the videos.
I think that force should be fire+wind not water or even just an alternate version of fire, although fire+wind makes more sense because force is mostly projectiles whose trajectory can be stopped in mid air or altered, i dont think it should be water only because it has a shape (which wind and even just fire should also be able to give)
Force projectors also tend to expand, look fluid, and explode; often like a bomb, but sometimes like a splash of liquid (Reptile's Force balls; also Johnny Cage's, in some versions, like MK4). And if Force is Fire + Air, what, then, is Smoke?
@@CynicalWarlock i have always interpreted reptile's force balls to be a combination of force and acid (not an elemental power but a biological ability) plus i think that by combining 2 elements you could get a different application like water can be both water and ice, so fire and air could be combined to obtain different compounds
@@alessandrolizzio6338 Reptile's invisibility is biological, but there are other characters that use very similar projectiles to his Force balls, like Dualist Liu Kang. Yeah, the recent games make them look like acid balls, but then they also make it a potion of invisibility, sliding grease, hands lotion, it's all over the place; in other words, they have no idea what they're doing.

I freakin love Tremor. His MKX design and fighting style just sell just how strong he is and how he should not be trifled with. Also, why did NRS make cameos a thing? They could have made them standard assists or even make MK12 a 2 v 2 tag battle game instead of peppering characters people want to play as assists of various quality. It's a damn shame so many characters are just glorified assists to patch up the playable cast's shoddy base move sets.
Maybe the initial plan was 2v2, but they scrapped it, midway (pun not intended). MKX Tremor is, hands down, one of the best characters they ever created.
Tremor is the G.O.A.T of MKX. The best DLC character in my opinion. Netherrealm really took this character to 100% in terms of Gameplay, looks and intro's. From beign a pixel ninja minor boss fight in special force's to being this utterlly delivery of coolness 😎 They did him dirty tho by not appearing in the story and with just a couple of pannels on the comic books, he has a lot of potencial. Given all the power that he actually displays I think we have in our hands a character that could be the shao kanh of earthrealm. I think it would be interesting to have him as an emperor of earth and having an alliance with orderrealm with a supreme general commander Hotaru as ally. Maybe againts kotal kanh representing outworld as the underdog of the story. I really hope for Tremor and Hotaru to step up a little bit more they have a lot of potencial and Im tired of the same good/bad guys always taking the spot. Great job as always bro keep it going ❤
I think Shang Tsung might actually be a lava "user" actually.....in MK11 he drops his opponent into lava, MK vs. DCU where he escapes into lava, in multiple games he summons ground eruption.....but in all cases he is using a portal(presumably using soul) to do it so he isn't actually making lava but using the knowledge he gained from soul to channel to a place where there is lava.

Reptile uses raw acid, rather than poison, or any kind of neurotoxin. Can't think off the top of my head of a character that uses poisons, probably because it's not a fighting game-friendly mechanic.

Mechanically though, it's debatable I suppose, cause it still behaves like a caustic spray, rather than a toxic that kills or hampers you from the inside; that's pretty hard to do, in a fighting game. But good thinking, D'Vorah's probably the closest thing to it.

Why is lava a kompound element. It should just be earth. When pressure rises so does temperature, so an earth user could just compress earth till it heats up
Why are air and plasma separate elements? They're both considered gas.

I bow with respect and surprise Mr warlock I'm so glad i found your channel I have so much respect for your work and how you love both old school and new mortal Kombat even we can both agree new Mortal Kombat has some problems but is interesting but the importance of Mortal Kombat is the SOUL of the game and story. In my personal opinion the new mk kinda lack a little soul but i love the ideas and everything you create for mk it gives it more love and soul lol to it but yet again OUTSTANDING video my friend you got yourself a fan 😎

Looks a lot like fireworks, which are tough to ascribe to 1 or 2 elements. Simplest possibility would be Fire. Other possibilities get progressively more complicated.
Tremor is definitely one of my favorite characters, it's just so cool how just by being an expert in one element, he can control so many things like lava, metal, gold, etc. In some future Mortal Kombat I would like him to come back showing all his power, maybe one of his fatalities could be him attracting meteors from space and throwing them at his opponent, or fuck it, throw the fucking moon at him lol.
Hotaru is a character with tons of potential, I hope he comes back someday. The relationship he had with Onaga was very interesting in my opinion, it was fun to see how someone who serves order and you would think he works for good, is actually working for the bad guys, and Havik, who is his total opposite, his goal is to bring chaos to all worlds and you would think he is the more evil of the two, actually turns against Onaga and works with the good guys (although we later found out he had a plan to revive Shao). The only negative thing about his character in my opinion was when he imprisoned Shujinko, that definitely made him lose popularity. If he were to come back, I would imagine him as a calm guy, being the best talker in the franchise, talking in prow and reciting poems constantly or something. Also him having something to do with the creation of Dark Raiden, as the two are about keeping order. His design is cool, having a firefly theme, as that signifies his name. His armor is cool, and the flags on his back are meant to look like wings.
What I would do is that him not looking so much like Fujin.
And lastly Cetrion, she is definitely the worst of the three, a mistake in general, her whole concept I don't like.
Her design is ridiculous, she looks nothing like a Mortal Kombat character. They should have made her look more like Raiden or Fujin, human appearance but with the aesthetics of a god, with white eyes, and maybe leave the stones floating behind her back.
Her powers are very boring, making her the Avatar and having her be able to control all the elements was definitely a mistake. She can throw fire? Scorpion already does that, Liu Kang too, also Kobra, and Taven, Kai, Tanya, should I go on? Huh, she can throw rocks? That's just Tremor. She throws water? That's Rain's whole thing. She can pull metal blades out of the ground? Oh wow, I guess no one's ever done that before... oh wait, Kabal already has that in MK3...
What they should have done is make her like Poison Ivy, controlling plants, roots, also being able to control wood. There's no Mortal Kombat character that controls natura yet, and that could have been Cetrion.

Hotaru's unlikely allegiance with Onaga highlights the kind of thinking that leads to fascism and military states. And you're right, he does resemble a little too much for comfort; never thought about that.
Cetrion's abilities could've been worse, I suppose, but her visual design is one of the worst in any MK game, and that's saying something.
Tremor's just a badass. I kinda like keeping his character simple, that's sort of his ethos, but by the elder gods, give him a *little* more to work with.

I think that force should be fire+wind not water or even just an alternate version of fire, although fire+wind makes more sense because force is mostly projectiles whose trajectory can be stopped in mid air or altered, i dont think it should be water only because it has a shape (which wind and even just fire should also be able to give)
Force projectors also tend to expand, look fluid, and explode; often like a bomb, but sometimes like a splash of liquid (Reptile's Force balls; also Johnny Cage's, in some versions, like MK4). And if Force is Fire + Air, what, then, is Smoke?
@@CynicalWarlock i have always interpreted reptile's force balls to be a combination of force and acid (not an elemental power but a biological ability) plus i think that by combining 2 elements you could get a different application like water can be both water and ice, so fire and air could be combined to obtain different compounds
@@alessandrolizzio6338 Reptile's invisibility is biological, but there are other characters that use very similar projectiles to his Force balls, like Dualist Liu Kang. Yeah, the recent games make them look like acid balls, but then they also make it a potion of invisibility, sliding grease, hands lotion, it's all over the place; in other words, they have no idea what they're doing.

I freakin love Tremor. His MKX design and fighting style just sell just how strong he is and how he should not be trifled with.
Also, why did NRS make cameos a thing? They could have made them standard assists or even make MK12 a 2 v 2 tag battle game instead of peppering characters people want to play as assists of various quality. It's a damn shame so many characters are just glorified assists to patch up the playable cast's shoddy base move sets.
Maybe the initial plan was 2v2, but they scrapped it, midway (pun not intended).
MKX Tremor is, hands down, one of the best characters they ever created.

Tremor is the G.O.A.T of MKX. The best DLC character in my opinion.
Netherrealm really took this character to 100% in terms of Gameplay, looks and intro's.
From beign a pixel ninja minor boss fight in special force's to being this utterlly delivery of coolness 😎
They did him dirty tho by not appearing in the story and with just a couple of pannels on the comic books, he has a lot of potencial.
Given all the power that he actually displays I think we have in our hands a character that could be the shao kanh of earthrealm.
I think it would be interesting to have him as an emperor of earth and having an alliance with orderrealm with a supreme general commander Hotaru as ally.
Maybe againts kotal kanh representing outworld as the underdog of the story.
I really hope for Tremor and Hotaru to step up a little bit more they have a lot of potencial and Im tired of the same good/bad guys always taking the spot.

I think Shang Tsung might actually be a lava "user" actually.....in MK11 he drops his opponent into lava, MK vs. DCU where he escapes into lava, in multiple games he summons ground eruption.....but in all cases he is using a portal(presumably using soul) to do it so he isn't actually making lava but using the knowledge he gained from soul to channel to a place where there is lava.

you should do a video about poison users, like what elements are used to make poison? or is it just limited to being an attribute for force attacks for reptile?
Reptile uses raw acid, rather than poison, or any kind of neurotoxin. Can't think off the top of my head of a character that uses poisons, probably because it's not a fighting game-friendly mechanic.

@@mattiatf2 Well the variation is called "Venomous", so based on the title alone, it fits the bill. Mechanically though, it's debatable I suppose, cause it still behaves like a caustic spray, rather than a toxic that kills or hampers you from the inside; that's pretty hard to do, in a fighting game.
But good thinking, D'Vorah's probably the closest thing to it.
