You need to be cleaning the evaporator more than the ducts. The evaporator is what condensates and stays wet then gets warm when the car is turned off. Perfect place for mold.

Yep, old video but this process is completely wrong. Like @Drinkwhiskyraisehell said this does nothing to the AC evaporator. Effective way is to squirt the foam from the evaporator water drain pipe. Most of the time the pipe can be accessed under the car, sometimes from engine bay. Empty the can in 2 phases, 50% at once and wait 10 min and then the second dose. This is the only way for the foam to get efficiently to the evaporator. In this video most of the foam is in the air ducts. There is just tiny amount of dust on those ducts. Unless you vomit in the ducts they wont cause smells. Evaporator is always moist and lots of surface for mold to grow!

Holy sh*t. There's a difference between constructive criticism and destructive. Many of you commenting obviously were never taught the first. Foam must be sprayed onto the evaporator as this is where the cleaning must be done, not inside the air vents where you risk leaks leading to electrical problems. When the foam cleans your evaporator, changing the AC temps will cause the dirty liquified foam below your car to drain making a dirty puddle which you can inspect for mold. Aerosols/air bombs are expensive car fresheners/perfume, no cleaning though. Foam must be done at least twice a year as its effect does not last a lot but it costs less than 10 EUR so... (BMW E90 owner)
The dirt and germs are also in the air vents. I did spray it into the evaporator area also, every time. It is located in front of the cabin air filter.
Nothing was burned and this product is meant to be used like this also.

Mold can also grow in the ducts, depending on how old the car is. Important to clean those as well, reading is also sorry important before commenting lol
I have a 2019 BMW 430i, the ac smells like mold whenever I turn on the ac. What do advise me to do?
1. Any foam products need 10 to 15 minutes to do their work. After that, they turn into liquid state and that is bad for anything electric. That's why foam cleaning products are for the condenser only and not for ventilation pipes. You can access the condenser through the draining pipe and that's why you have that tube
2. The ventilation pipes are cleaned with spray products and the ac is turned on immediately after application, so they dont affect the electric parts of the car.
Conclusion: there are 2 types of product for ac cleaning: passive ones, like foam, that need 10-15 minutes to do their work and active ones, like spray bomb, that need the ac system to be turned on in order to do their work. That's all.
This product is for the air-vents also. There aren't any electrical circuits inside the vents, I can assure you.
@@m3rovingian I think that for some cars the liquid from that foam will get onto electronic parts (if you inject the foam into vent pipes) like radio etc...

Now I am sorry that I followed your recommendation. If something works for you, doesn’t mean that it works for everybody. Assume that and make it clear please

Yeah, it's mandatory to do this cleaning when you buy a 2nd hand car. If it's a truck make sure you get like 2 or 3 cans of what you can find where you live. The Liqui Moly ones are the best, but a bit more expensive.

Mass airflow sensor has absolutely nothing to do with the air in your cabin. It’s the air that goes through the intake, pass the throttle body then the manifold to the intake of the engine. It senses how much is being sucked in and takes that reading in hand with other sensors to let the computer know how much fuel is needed. I.e. A/F sensor.
I never said it is connected in any way to the air in the cabin :) I just cleaned it because it was time to do so, that's all :)

Yeah. You can't help them. But it's ok. Once you'll do this you'll get rid of the nasty smell. I recommend you a spray from Liqui Moly. Even if it has lower quantity, I assure you it'll dothe job awesome and since they have such good quality you will have less chances of getting a bad product, like I did with this brand. I had to sent it back because the content of it wasn't getting out when I pressed it. They sent me a new one but all the time I had the impression it was finishing way faster than expected. Still it did the job very good for what it was.

Aren't you going to flood your condenser with all that foam that liquefies? That would make it smell awful in a few weeks. Pretty sure you have to use that on the intake and not directly into the vents. The instructions on the can state you need to locate the tube under the dashboard then connect that hose and spray into there which covers the radiator vent which is where the dust accumulates. Just filling your dash with foam then letting it liquify to run down the inside front of your car can't be good for the electrics.
Still at least you didn't use insulation foam lol.
It smells great and last all the way until the end of winter. You do it as you wish, but the vents will remain dirty if you don't use it there also. nobody says to over use it. Just a bit everywhere also in the evaporator area where I have located the cabin air filter and that is pretty much it. The water that flows down from the AC is crystal clear now.
No. The liquid goes away in the drain pipe of the ac. The product also states to not use the ac for 5 hours and it helps to do this before a drive so the wind can dry the ac evaporator

In my experience none of these work. The foaming cleaners you attempt to spray directly onto the evaporator by feeding a lance down the centre vents were the best of a bad bunch. The aerosol 'bombs' were useless and just stank out the upholstery giving a temporary illusion of 'minicab freshness'
If you can get access to the evaporator core (removing a blower resistor from the pre-evaporator ducting in my case) You can clean it properly with coil cleaner. I used Envirocoil.
You are mistaking. This is how the product should be used. look on TH-cam. Everyone uses them like this.

@@rajfell I didn't damage anyting in all of these years. I cleaned the evaporator by removing the cabin air filter first then spray it into its compartiment. Look better at my videos.

nice video, but too long...I have one question, what about liquid at 19:45 on rubber floormates, where goes all that liquid from foam? Don't worry about the liquid. it's the foam after doing it's job of cleaning. If you'll put less foam then it'll drip less also. I went all out. Just put foam until you see it coming out of the vent while pulling out the hose, as you saw me in the video. I tried to record as much as possible all the steps of a complete air vent cleaning.

It smell very fresh, but I can assure you the foam smell will be the base note :) That will persist the most. The diffuser is more likely for the overall cars interior. When I used only the diffuser in my AC cleaning, the freshness was fading away in a short time, while the air vents were getting dirty by each day :)
I have a problem with smell....i mean i cant smell, i need the smell to be very or extremly strong to smell it.....this happened due to my work

@@m3rovingian smell comes from the evaporator my dude, you know how car has "water leak" under it when your A/C runs? that's the evaporator working, i also thought i had to clean vents, but i was mistaken, you can check "How to clean the airco of your car with MOTIP Airco Cleaner" video to get better idea, but basically smell is the bacteria that developed on the evaporator from moisture.

Just use it as you wish, I'll keep doing it like this. Keep in mind I used it on the evaporator also, after I took out the cabin air filter, but I suppose you missed that part. You need to use it everywhere, in the evaporator's area and in the vents. Just don't over do it.

Each time I change the engine air filter. Every 10.000 km. That way you'll have a smooth running engine all the time.

What was the diffuser you used?
One from a company named Caramba. But I recommend you to try the ones sold by Liqui Moly, both diffuser and AC spray with a straw. They are a lot higher in quality, and although they have less quantity, it'll last you more. Even the diffuser is depleted way slower, at only 75 ml for Liqui Moly. They are really worth buying. I don't know that product. As long as you use it with a reasonable quantity I can assure you will not damage anything. It's meant to be used like this.
Why did you use it? What did you try to clean?
Over time dirt and mold will gather in the AC vent and a bad smell will be perceived when you turn on the AC. As everything else, it needs cleaning, about 2 times a year, like you saw in this video.

In most car today, you need to take out the whole dashboard to access to the evaporator (cooling coil).
Do you want to do that which will cost you "an arm & a leg" eh?
Not to mention when fully assembled back, could have problems

:) You don't need to do that. Even the evaporator can be cleaned if you put a lot of foam in the cabin air filter box, I did it in the video where I replaced the cabin air filter.

Because of the water the condenser area may have mold.
The ducts and fans are dry and mostly clean
@@gabrieladrian6736 When you do this type of cleaning with the ac to the max, that pipe is cleaned with all the water and filth pouring from it. Mine was always clean and I only saw water on the ground. The smell comes from the vents not from that pipe. After you do it like I show the car smells fresh and clean.

Bad idea, that foam has liquid, if you have a broken duct or any cracks or leaks, there is a high chance that the liquid will end up on a electrical part and cause some serious damage. Just spray some ac cleaning product in front of the intake fan and will be enough to clean the whole system and get rid of bacterias, mold or unwanted smells
Sorry but I do not agree. I don't have any broken duct or cracks. i have the car bought brand new. Also if it would be so it would be maybe a car that went through a accident. they don't crack all of the sudden.
That spray is good only for the general interior. I used it also, but for the AC system you need the active foam, or the smell will come back very soon.
@@m3rovingian It's plastic and due to all the heating and cooling cycles it will eventually give out, especially in older vehicles. Even if you use the foam, it will just dry out inside the ducts is not like the dirt is going anywhere
