Great video. Going through this hell at the moment changing ball joint C3. Just can't get new one back in place. Spent hours and hours. Anybody know the name the jack used to lift brake disc? Is it something special? Just keeps slipping off or going out of alignment.
Getting that joint out was a nightmare, had to borrow a splitter like yours. Cut the rivets out with arm still on car not too bad. Lost some oil out the gearbox but is done now! Thanks for upload :)
Removing a stuck lower arm, get a scaffold bar, lever down, and smack the top with a good hammer, whilst pushing down.. 👍👍, works a few times now.. OR, remove disc, calliper etc, pry down as better angle...
I had the same issues with my Citroen C3, which has the same ball joint setup; citroen say to use a long bar for leverage chained the the bottom side of the wishbone to pull it down. Nice work 👍
There are special bars for this kind of work. The problem is that i have a 4 post lift and just don't have te room to use something like that. But at the end of the day the work was done. Thanks for the support as always my gabber!
Cheers for the detailed video. I've done this job today on my 207 and I removed the driveshaft to get the bolt out. I did wonder what I was doing wrong. Come to do the other side and the ball joint is seized in. I've now removed the hub complete with control arm. Will try again to split it tomorrow.
Very similar on C4, when I rebuilt mine I put the three bolts in from underneath leaving the nuts uppermost, if theres a next time, it will be easier.......
@@TheDutchGarage I'm back! OK, I bought a control arm, all was going well until trying to refit the bolt that you had issues with!! I cant get it in and ive tried for hours, any ideas The Dutch Garage????? Driveshaft is in the way screw YOU LOL
Just about to change the ball joint. Hate this 207, everything is stupid on it , changed the starter motor 2 months ago and it took me 3 hours . I changed the starter motor on a vw in 30 minutes or less
Hello sir, nice work, i'm french and yes, it's normal with the french car 🤣 a really piece of sh*t, need ro remove a lot of things to get a bolt or something else. We said : pourquoi faire simple quand on peut faire compliqué (Why make it simple when you can make it complicated)
Another great true life video, Nothing is easy in the real world of car mechanics. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! Yes this car really did get on my nerve.
Did this today while it was still on the car, rusty, rounded wishbone bolts. You're so right it was a nightmare and some sore fingers.

I am glad that I am not the only person who hates car designers! Great video, 😡😳👍

Great job! You don't learn anything if it goes smoothly.

And there will be a next time...Cars...
French cars, just a done head light bulbs on a Renault. Had to remove bumper aghhh!!
That must have been the Renault Modus. A nightmare.
On my 2010 model thee were bolts.Easy to change.
Then you were lucky, maybe they changed the design or they were changed before.
You are brilliant in showing how a pain in the ass most ofthese jobs are.
Sometimes it's just a pain.

German cars also like to do this.

French cars are not designed to do maintenance on In alot of cases.
Thank you very much for this. I will now after watching leave the car to the idiots who built it instead 🤣
Car manufacturers are going crazy. Riveting ball joints????
Saves time. But can indeed be a nightmare for us.
These cars are designed by people who have never got there hands dirty. Something in the way of everything.
Engineers vs mechanics.
O my looks too hard 😭
It can be a pain indeed.
