hatred? Do you seriously believe that people who are not enlightened about homosexuality HATE their gay children and send them to CT because they HATE them? You and your brother are limited in your ability to help if that's what you think.
@@Scotty_SpacemonsterkillerWell, not necessarily (although this can certainly be the case) hating their child, they hate their child’s homosexuality. I see what you’re saying though, not all parents are willfully hurting their children, some of them have just been duped/brainwashed and are afraid, and they believe, at least, that they are genuinely trying to help their child and acting in their best interest due to the values they were raised on themselves or whatever else. This does seem to be how they are portraying it for the actress in the video, since she was actually open to changing her mind. But unfortunately many people do just outright hate homosexuality, and they are acting hateful towards their children. They may not see it as hating their child, but in effect that is what they’re doing.
I actually didn’t know conversion therapy is banned in Canada, that’s good to hear as someone who has moved to Canada from the southern USA (I specify the region bc of its notorious religiosity and consequent attitude towards queerness).
@@andrewc6778 They may hate homosexuality in the same way people hate pedophilia or rape or cannibalism. They see it as a perversion that ruins lives and, if acted on willfully without remorse, would not enable a person to be right with God. They may liken it to a bad addiction, like gambling or alcoholism or cocaine. People are helped out of such addictions by clinics, and perhaps these people think the same could "cure" homosexuality because they liken homosexuality to such addictions. There are many cultures in the world where homosexuality doesn't seem to exist because people who are gay must not admit it and must assimilate in that culture, pretending to be straight to live a societally acceptable life. There are people who are very liberal, like Cher, who couldn't accept that her daughter was a lesbian, while Sonny, a conservative, did accept it. Sexual desire is deeply rooted in our brain. To feel attracted to people of the same sex is caused before birth in the womb by a combination of genetic and epigenetic factors. A combination of genes is responsible for male homosexuality and at the same time this exact same combination of genes in women makes them more fertile. That is why there will always be gay people. Evolution has set this for tens of thousands of years, not only in humans, but also in many other mammals. Gay people were born this way. The social environment in which someone grows up does not play a role at all. But it plays a role regarding the gay person's self-acceptance.
I’m a trans college student, grew up in a very religious household in the evangelical church. Spent years and years trying to be just a girl, knowing I wasn’t safe to tell anyone how I really felt. The real reason I hated shopping for clothes and always had more male than female friends, etc. This video came on my feed hours before I’m leaving to get my hair cut short, to finally start expressing who I am. My parents are at least verbally supportive, but I’m so afraid of how other family members will react. That moment at the end, when the mother changed her mind, I couldn’t help but tear up. Thank you.
Came out to my mom 2 months ago. 'You look exactly like what you are, a man in a dress'. Interestingly enough she played victim after that. Haven't had contact since, I'm 33 with my own place so I'm not depending on her. She's never been transphobic or so I thought. Suppose it's different when it's her own child. Her reaction when I told her I was bi a year ago wasn't great either. Good luck with your journey! Hope it will all go well.
Dear parents please don’t change your kids please love them the way they are, I’m begging you it’ll do permanently damage to your child and yes your child will change but into a monster
The fact that the production hired Asian American actors to star in this video shows how even more important this video is given that the stories of queer people of color are highly underrepresented.
I never knew that existed. 😮 I agree with the first lady that spoke out…. If you force people, they will just change in the surface but not deep inside. You need to love & accept the person, might not accept their lifestyle. Keep praying for them because force only pushes people away.
My son is almost 5, my daughter is almost 2. My daughter currently appears to have a more “manly” personality than my son. My husband’s side of the family doesn’t care. My side of the family you can see some uneasiness about it. We have stressed to my family. We accept the kids as they are. We will not change them. If you have a problem with it it’s your problem not my problem. If you try to change my kids I have no problem preventing them from seeing you.
When my cousin was little, her best friend was a boy, and he preferred wearing "girl" clothes and playing with "girl" toys. His parents were fine with it, but their friends kept expressing concern that this behavior would "turn" him gay. Their response: If he's gay, he's gay. If he isn't, he isn't. If he is, forcing him to play with trucks won't change that. If he isn't, letting him play with Polly Pockets won't make him so. We love him regardless."
@deeanna8448 I'm gay , I realized at 8 that I was different but I'm from Hispanic/latin background so I didn't really have anyone to speak to about it , so I didn't come out until was 14 but when I was younger I had all the "manly" toys transformers , hot wheels , construction toys , etc and not a single one of those toys influenced me to be straight whatsoever , I understand very much how that feels 😅
"People are not primarily driven by reason but by emotion. People will often never accept when they are wrong and will find ways to rationalize their actions. Criticism hurts individuals' pride and sense of importance."
Some s**t happens allround the world, im glad their are shows like heartstopper or sex education, so that parents understand, when i came out to my grandma, she was born 1926 and she was so supportive
Wow this is hit too close to home. The differences is my family didn't change their minds, and I also agreed to do that cause i thought i can change who I am . But i eventually ran away from home cause i decided i didn't wanna go! And i was so afraid of what my family would do to me
It's literally the same thing churches are doing, but we're okay with that for some reason. I want kids to have a chance at true freedom, but we gotta quit pushing ideas on them.
My youngest sibling is a pansexual genderfluid in a poly relationship. The last time me, my mom, and my sibling all hung out after my sibling went home my mom asked what I thought of their lifestyle. She was disappointed when I said I didn’t have a problem. She was criticizing my siblings lifestyle and clothing (my sibling is AMAB and was wearing a skirt that day)
John leads people to be more emotional by changing his voice to a shaky one and then asking them "you have tears in your eyes" and they also force bystanders to get involved by making actors speak loudly or in a very close quarters. IMO, the show is loosing its touch.
For any parent that's forcing a kid to do something they want them to do. Think again. It's the child's future, not the parents. That's so controlling!
I’m crying because though my mom came out later in life after having three kids and being married to two different men, my grandmother, her mother, my aunt her sister for a while didn’t accept her sexuality. In fact, my older brother but even upset for a little bit. Conversion therapy is not what people think it is. It’s not just sit down therapy sessions. You’re not just talking. Conversion therapy is extremely harmful not only physically, but mentally. After someone still going through it, nothing’s changed except them having PTSD. They are still sexuality wise, the same person they were before they were forced into conversion therapy.
you can't focus your child to go to therapy to change who they are, if your child tells you that they are gay or lesbian you should support them and not hurt them.
Ironically , I literally just watched a movie about this topic on Netflix 3 days ago & it’s called Boy Erased with Nicole Kidman & Russell Crowe & they played the parents of the gay boy they sent to conversion therapy & I must say it was alil hard to watch without getting upset 😐🤷🏻♀️

That sounds interesting, do you have any sources/further reading? /gen
Thank you.
I hope your parents will become fully supportive and I wish you well.❤🏳️⚧️
@@deeanna8448 Thank you!

Its 2024!!!! Can we ban it forever from all 50 states and US territory!! Im a Muslim and i think its an absolute disgrace!
It is a disgrace to all humanity😖
As a Christian I agree 100%
I actually know a young guy who committed suicide after forcefully admitting him there. Its emotional and mental abuse in there.
@@passerby9255 mhm it doesn’t help, u literally can’t change urself
Will never happen as long as Republicans are in charge, and even if it did get banned, our disgrace of a Supreme Court would overturn it.
I loved this episode & I'm happy that someone stepped in when the boy was trying to convinced to go to conversion therapy.
The fact that the production hired Asian American actors to star in this video shows how even more important this video is given that the stories of queer people of color are highly underrepresented.
I was there during this filming 😅😅
And of course u didn’t speak up

I never knew that existed. 😮
I agree with the first lady that spoke out…. If you force people, they will just change in the surface but not deep inside.
You need to love & accept the person, might not accept their lifestyle.
Keep praying for them because force only pushes people away.
Exactly
Bro this is godless behaviour
@deeanna8448 I'm gay , I realized at 8 that I was different but I'm from Hispanic/latin background so I didn't really have anyone to speak to about it , so I didn't come out until was 14 but when I was younger I had all the "manly" toys transformers , hot wheels , construction toys , etc and not a single one of those toys influenced me to be straight whatsoever , I understand very much how that feels 😅
That teacher did such a great job!!!
Okay wwyd! I see the acting is getting better and switching up on the actors as well. Good job. Glad to see you guys still making videos.
aimentalhealthadvisor AI fixes this (AI Mental Health Advisor). Mom pressures daughter, diners react.
Conversion should be illegal.
Ugh! That last lady! 🥹🥺 She had such a mother's heart!
"People are not primarily driven by reason but by emotion. People will often never accept when they are wrong and will find ways to rationalize their actions. Criticism hurts individuals' pride and sense of importance."
THESE NEED TO BE LONGER 😭😭
The National Sexual Violence Resource Center calls conversion therapy "sexual violence", and I agree 💯.
Be Kind to each other, everyone!
Some s**t happens allround the world, im glad their are shows like heartstopper or sex education, so that parents understand, when i came out to my grandma, she was born 1926 and she was so supportive
Thank you for this episode!
They did such a great job at the end omg :')
Oh that guy 🥺🫂🫂👏👏☺️☺️he stands up for her
Wow this is hit too close to home. The differences is my family didn't change their minds, and I also agreed to do that cause i thought i can change who I am . But i eventually ran away from home cause i decided i didn't wanna go! And i was so afraid of what my family would do to me
This is important that they are Asian too. Amazing as always.
I would be so so mean to the mom
The lady at the end is so powerful and really inspired me
the mom wasnt that good of an actress 😬
I don’t think it’s that bad it could just be played off as the mother being nervous about it
It's literally the same thing churches are doing, but we're okay with that for some reason. I want kids to have a chance at true freedom, but we gotta quit pushing ideas on them.
Exactly! Most of the time it happens at churches
No matter what, wrong means wrong and Truth doesn't care about anybody elses feelings.
Conversion therapy is wrong
I clicked so fast, BABE JOHN QUINONES POSTED 😍😍😍
This was great, we need more interactions
Kudos to the actors! They are giving!
OMG 😱 This is terrifying. It breaks my heart to see this.
I suppose you could choose not to watch it, but what's terrifying about it?
Heartwarming for fucking real.
My youngest sibling is a pansexual genderfluid in a poly relationship. The last time me, my mom, and my sibling all hung out after my sibling went home my mom asked what I thought of their lifestyle. She was disappointed when I said I didn’t have a problem. She was criticizing my siblings lifestyle and clothing (my sibling is AMAB and was wearing a skirt that day)
It’s so evil to do this to your own child.
That guy definitely has a wonderful queen of a mother
whenever i need good cry, i watch WWYD
John leads people to be more emotional by changing his voice to a shaky one and then asking them "you have tears in your eyes" and they also force bystanders to get involved by making actors speak loudly or in a very close quarters. IMO, the show is loosing its touch.
100%
That last woman was special.
The mom is such a great actress. Her facial expressions - top tier.
💙🙏🏻
No surprise she is a teacher, God bless her!!
BABE, wake up! John Quinones just uploaded!!! 🗣️🗣️
He put on his Champion sweatshirt just to say that!!
3:39 she was spot on, the girl has feelings too. Maybe the mom needs help.
u know theyre actors right?
BLACK WOMEN BLACK WOMEN 💜🤞🏽👑
The last woman bless her heart but also the guy casually eating behind not giving a flying F about all this is sending me like DUDE ????
He so nice,he’s my teacher he’s just a little miss understand 😖😖
For any parent that's forcing a kid to do something they want them to do. Think again. It's the child's future, not the parents. That's so controlling!
I'm teary-eyed
I’m crying because though my mom came out later in life after having three kids and being married to two different men, my grandmother, her mother, my aunt her sister for a while didn’t accept her sexuality. In fact, my older brother but even upset for a little bit. Conversion therapy is not what people think it is. It’s not just sit down therapy sessions. You’re not just talking. Conversion therapy is extremely harmful not only physically, but mentally. After someone still going through it, nothing’s changed except them having PTSD. They are still sexuality wise, the same person they were before they were forced into conversion therapy.
I love this episode
you can't focus your child to go to therapy to change who they are, if your child tells you that they are gay or lesbian you should support them and not hurt them.
