MAPA has two meanings. First is the Ma (mama) and Pa (papa), our parents, who always supports us. And Ma (mata | eyes), Pa (paa | feet). Our mama is our eyes, teaches us to be open minded, alert, and humble. And our papa is our feet, telling us to stand up and fight, whenever you feel like you're down and giving up in life. This song is a message that we can't express to our parents, someday I will be able to say "pahinga muna, ako na" (take a rest, I'll take care of it) to them. Our parents deserve all the love in the world, same as SB19❤️✨❣️🇵🇭🙏🏽
And just to add the video was a map (mapa in fililpino) to incompass the journey of life.

And I think, the MaPa in this song is about three things:

The first time Ive heard this song, I cried so hard. SB19 are unbelievably talented. I dont know how they wer able to come up with a song like this. It's full of emotions. They did a great job, not to mention their vocals.

The two members, Josh and Ken are brave to take this song, growing up without their dads by their sides. Not even a memory to reminisce for Josh as he never met his dad. He had to fight for his life on his own. While Ken's grandma who stood as his parent, just recently passed away and he was not able to see her for the last time before she died. 🥺

Were same,my mom died when I was 2 also and my younger sister is 10months old and I'm an OFW,far from home.😢😢😢and my father has a serious illness at this time of pandemic.i wish I can be with him,but I had to work.for them...I'm a bread winner.i had to indure all the pain of missing them.

MaPa = also means Map in Filipino because our parents is also our map through their guidance.
Also Ma for MAta (eyes) and Pa for PAa (feet) ❣️
Aside from MAPA pertaining to map, it also means MAma (Mom) and PApa (Dad). Pablo even thrown in another meaning. MAta (eyes) and PAa (feet) that symbolised the mother and father respectively in the song.
All these three meanings of the title shows us that our parents are our guide so we won't be lost and we can reach our goals in life.
They really said they gave a hint of their upcoming songs in the music video of What? and at the ending of the MV the Philippine map was there.

Mapa is literally a tagalog word for Map. And the song embodies love for our parents. We call them MA and PA. It's a tribute for everything that they've done for us, going back to our roots and applauding them. They are our MAP since the day we were born.
OMG Waleska and Efra! I too love the song. It really shows the "roots" (Pablo - the leader said that the album will look back to their roots) of all Filipinos. The songs shows the culture of being a Family-oriented country. You're right, these days you don't get this kind of message-centric songs. The mainstream here in PH is about "HUGOT LOVE SONGS". They stray away from that norm here and really focuses on producing songs that have SUBSTANCE.

The chorus Latara sounds like "La Tierra" in Spanish which is translated to "The Earth" or "The World". Our parents means a lot for most of us that we refer them as our world. The chorus is also a lullaby which children sings for their parents like Mom (Ma), Dad (Pa) it is time for you to rest for now, it is our time to give back. SB19 is one of the few artist choose to write songs dedicated for their parents. Their very humble and they know where they came from. Their parents are one of their number one fan why they fighting for their dreams. Pablo said in one of their interview " they were inspired to write this song because there are times in their career that their are so busy and they don't have time to go home ang see their parents. Pablo ask each member how they feel that time. When they were living together they decided to write song for their parents to show that even though they are now successful but still their parents are the reason of their achievements.
SB19 are really a great artist. They create music not just to show off or be popular but they create music to inspire and help their listener to express their unshared feeling through SB19 music.
MAPA is not just a song...it is a story. A brilliant masterpiece. The line distribution was fantastic. When Pablo asked Josh, Justin, Ken and Stell to write what they want to say to their parents, they went on to write what will be the lyrics of the song. For the most part I was touched by Josh's lines coz having to grow up without a father pretty much touch your very core listening to him singing the Pa (Dad) part! I love this song so much! I really love watching their reaction videos because it's more than just watching their reactions. They appreciate the vocals, harmonies, adlibs, they check they lyrics, context of the song and try to understand the real meaning and possible underlying message of the song.
I loved how they talked about creative control, being honest and genuine while providing high quality music. That is true, there are times that artists conform to the public demands due to the song's marketability and I love how SB19 do not just make music, they make music to deliver their message even if it may not be the most trendiest/mainstream topic for some. The message of the song just goes through our hearts, because at some point, we all have/had our parents or parent-figures who guided us.

Its a genius title. Mapa/map in english can be 'ma' (mama/mother) and 'pa' (papa/father) because their lessons and advices are our guide in our life that's why we'll never get lost. And in the lyrics the mother serves as our MAta(eyes) and father serves as our PAa(feet). The symbolisms are genius and on point. Their voices are super great and the melody is fantastic. The song is really a play of words.... MAPA which means map but then we all realized as the song progressed that it really is short for Mama and Papa who, in essence, serve us our maps in charting our life from day 1 and for the remainder of our lives. Ma is also short for Mata (eyes), represented by our mothers who from the get-go served as our eyes to see the world from a lens of a mother who is caring and nurturing. Pa is also short for Paa (feet) who served as our feet as we take our first steps into the world, preparing us as we continue to draw the stories of our own very lives. While not everyone may have a good story to remember their parents by as I do have friends who are in that situation, however, they chose to see the silver lining in their stories and focused on the fact that their parents decided to bring them to this world. In that same sense, their mother and father still served as maps to their very existence. And for those who are still with their parents who have done nothing but care for you as their children, please enjoy everyday that you are with them. Not everyone is as lucky as you who has a parent or both. Hug them and say I love you as much as you can. At 40 years old, I can't believe but admit to myself that I am a low-key A'TIN because these boys' songwriting skills, musicality, originality, and their new take on Pinoy music, I can't help but admire their effort to elevate our artistry in the world stage.

I don't think they'll release an MV but honestly the lyric video itself is a masterpiece. So many symbolisms there in the lyric video, plus it gives you a chance to really look into the meaning of the song and play memories in your head. So somehow the music video is created in the audience's imagination. And yes, this song is a true masterpiece.
