I hope they gave that to you as a Marketing Deal. I cannot imagine needing it for your small property. ALWAYS disconnect the Negative terminal FIRST and secure it away from the Battery.
It was funny, I actually DID look up online which to connect first and it TOLD me to connect the ground first :(

Always take the ground off a battery first. . . .and connect it last and you won't have to worry what the wrenches touch.

We have the simular units mfg for Deere on our 2- 5115Ms My Son did the installation..........The 6145R and thr just arrived 6R145 all that is needed as the Roof Globe and system activation;;
My buddy also has a Deere system and he said it was set-up for RTK, but his system on the Case was not. he definitely liked the RTK much better!

I had a lot of issues and talked to several friends who had systems, and none of them installed them themself, so I was diving into unknown territory, ahaha!

Eric says no holes drilled in the tractor. But that challenge was overcome by sticky-back tape. Nice work and the Tractor is much less Holy that it could have been.

Suzanne - good tip about the battery positive terminal. Best to disconnect the negative post first, and remove any rings from your hands, or wear thick gloves.

@@This1LifeWeLive Remove any watchband or metal bracelet too. Watchbands give a very interesting circle of blisters when they short out.

Hey Suzanne; Bzzzzzt(LOL). At the equipment repair facility where I retired from, I had to deal with engineers on a regular basis in which some of them were an absolute blast to interact with and some unfortunately thought that they were a gift to the world.
Looks like the manufacturer was trying to cover multiple applications from what I seen on your video. A lot of the brackets were very similar to the emergency strobe lights that we used to mount on our trucks and equipment and I also have experienced similar brackets and connectors with the amateur radio stuff that I play around with - Isn’t that like being a glutton for punishment or something like that. Looks like you were having lots of fun.
LOL, I definitely wasn't impressed with the engineers! I think they needed a few with actual farming experience ;) (we have a few out here that left farming to become engineers and then after working a few years ultimately left to go back to farming, haha).
But they do have to have set-ups for the majority of tractors, and it's hard to have a "one size fits all".
Actually, most other systems I found online required the full removal of the steering wheel panels and cutting into them to install anchors. So I am VERY thankful this was much less complicated and less destructive ;D
@@This1LifeWeLive A friend or mine named Bob whom we lost to the Covid-19 pandemic was a engineer who always used to laughingly say that the vast majority of engineers ought to be taken out and shot with himself included being that he was an engineer,
Bob also used to say that an engineer who actually worked on real time projects other than pushing a pencil and spelling words on their calculators was worth his or her weight in gold.
Those steering wheels are really tedious to deal with In which there’s absolutely no room for error for obvious reasons.
To remove the steering wheel, I had to combine a slotted bar type puller and a bearing separator in order to remove the steering wheel from off one of my Cub Cadets that the steering gear had gone bad.
Speaking of Cubs, I buy repair parts from Weingartz who is also located in Michigan in whom you may be familiar.
They have been really good to deal with as far as pricing and the shipping is usually really quick from Michigan to Kentucky.

I certainly would prefer to have one for large fields if I had them! But even for small fields it makes steering on hills and uneven ground much easier which makes your work more productive 😉
You can always use shoe goo or automotive goop to mount that on the glass.
I was trying to be non permanent so Erik wouldn't get mad, hahaha

Neighbor hooked a g p s system to his planter tractor. Had trouble with it! We will see how yours works!
There is a LOT of areas you can calibrate incorrectly. I also read online about guys having them PROFESSIONALLY connected and they STILL had to have the reps back out a few more times to fix things. I'd almost say doing it yourself is better . . . I wouldn't want to sit a day in the field waiting for support to arrive ;)
Hi Suzanne, great job! I think you might have had the answer for why the battery wires are so long when you got that spark shower. The point is likely that it's a good idea to connect the ground wire on the tractor body, well away from the battery. Just a small trivia, the brand name is a combination of the words "Svea" and "Verken" meaning something along the lines of Swedish machining facility.

No Suzanne, to prevent sparks from flying when working with or around the positive battery post, DISCONNECT the negative battery terminal! Once your wiring work is complete, only then, reconnect the negative battery terminal!!! 🙂

What's the advantage of this on a small scale operation like yours? Fatigue? More efficient passes? Do you expect to get more hay yield from this?
The real advantage is when spreading fertilizer or seed less skips and over laps

Yes, like Wayne suggested, seed and fertilizer. Fertilizer isn't a huge deal, but seed IS and often poor passes will affect yield for years to come. Especially important on new fields, but even over seeding makes a big difference with poor coverage.
The plan is to also try it for making hay . . . may make driving easier as I am ALWAYS over correcting myself, and one big overcorrection affects everything else thereafter :(

He's an old hand at installing these systems too ;) It's a bit easier when you've done it before AND have a crew to help ;)

@@This1LifeWeLive My Dad use to be made mad at my older brother after he saw the corn come up. It embarrassed him having crooked rows. Dad would accuse him of being drunk. He needed auto steer also.

You could totally farm real ground with a 115 horse tractor. It would pull a 20-30’ wide planter.
That had been the original plan when we bought it . . . we wanted to run a 1,000 RPM discbine with it and expand the hay crop ;)

re-planting is honestly the biggest factor as it's VERY TOUGH to see where you previously ran (cannot always see tire tracks), but also may make staying on track with hay paths easier too. We shall see :)

How will an auto steer help you on your acres of hay ?
Our biggest issue is getting even coverage of seed when we overseed our fields. This also might help keep straight and even rows with making hay :)
