Hey JT did you have to have a clearance for your rate? Nobody has made it clear to me if I do or not.. they make all of us apply for a clearance before we even pick our job, supposedly AM doesn’t even need a clearance so I’m stressing out since I can’t get a real answer. I have student loan debt that would most likely disqualify me for a clearance, so I’m just really confused about how they’re doing things in the Navy. Thanks

+Colin Desouza if you want to go officer join right from the start ,,,, if you go enllisted and then try to go officer its a very very difficult and long process and the odds of you getting picked up are slim. Its a lot easier doing it from the start
You should be an junior officer college education is the number one requirement to get it as an officer especially if you are the one paying for it not the military

@@titan_o7 It turned out I had a medical condition that was disqualifying, even though it was extremely minor. However, everyone I talked to said not to worry, they will start teaching you from the very basics, so you can come in knowing nothing and learn it all. All the best to you in your endeavour to serve.
Yes there a lot of flying school in florida use your money that you put it in towards your education when you get out I think the army gives more money towards your education

JTsuits true, but going through RCOH on a carrier the central pub library was shut down for three years. Who helped bringing it back online. Yours truly and another AZ. It took us almost nine months to get the central pub library and all workcenters back online. Being a skate job not so much, but it was a real eye opener for a newly pinned petty officer.
I want to be a software engineer, Is it true that veterans get job preference? And if so, am I better off doing that job for the Navy so when i come out, I'll have experience, knowledge, and preference for that job instead of going to college?

AS work on the Support Equipment that squadron personnel use to maintain their aircraft. I.E. towing tractors, hydraulic test stands, external electrical carts, etc.

Everyone is issued NWUs. They do when performing training exercises, most Aircrew I see (both underway and in port) wear the olive green flight suits like pilots, or some kind of olive green uniform, probably because NWUs aren't approved for underways. People love wear those flight suits like a status symbol or something.

Julian Ramos you have to have a good score in mechanical category. I just signed my contract Friday for aviation mechanist mate. I was hoping for advanced gas turbine machinist but there wasn't any available and I'm too old for nukes. just look up what score you need and go to your local library and rent an asvab book and study it. this job includes prop planes, helicopter, and jet engines. which one of those 3 will be assigned after your a school. beeter you do in a school, more likely you are to get what you want in those 3. good luck.
i don't know enough my man ,,, we don't really work with y'all directly ,,, although i did have a bunch of air crew friends , y'all always did your own thing
+sharplight916 wats up brotha ... so bascailly o level you will be working "on" the aircraft themselves and be apart of a squadron. you do basic maintenance and the installation and removal of parts ,,, anything from hydraulic to mechanical to the tire and wheels. We also did a lot of trouble shooting of the flight controls. If you go I level its basically working on the parts that the O level people take out that are broke and send to you ,,, but you also get to do a lot more metal work and fabrication
JTsuits which has the bigger work load? Also which would you reccommend to someone who not really used to working with his hands like me. I know they're both hands on, but which would be an easier transition?

+irving valle yes we get preference :) ,,,,, in most companies anyways ,,, also companies get a tax break for hiring vets so its an extra incentive.
