I brought in 4 (5 star) right tackles in one class… Redshirted all of them and moved them along the O Line… One was a bust but I have a stacked O-line for my next 3 years
Back in the old days of college football I liked to take small schools from like the MAC or Sunbelt and make them powerhouses. You should do a video about the best way to do that. Most TH-camrs just use Georgia or top level teams.
Appreciate these videos so much. Had to restart my first Ok State dynasty because I spread my resources thin and all my top targets were poached by OU and Texas late in the process. Now I’m pulling in four stars early and competing for five stars.
I have found at times that I don't get a lot of interest from CBs and sometimes struggle to get anything more than regular 3stars. However I draft a few good FSs and shuffle them to CB or even SS. That's helped me a few times.
Try upgrading your recruiting tree for DB’s to get max hours and try to boost complimentary visits with a SS or FS but both if possible… If you can group DB’s together on visits it tends to help out the recruiting process… But don’t put a CB on a visit with another CB they’ll lose interest in the visit but still come on the visit… But CB get boosted visits with Safety’s on the same week
The way I do it is on a 1, 2, 4-year back and forth method I I s out QBs and HBs alternatively every year. You only need 2 good QB and HB, so scout a QB every 2 years and an HB every 2 years. Same for guards/tackles, DE/DT, MLB/OLB I scout 1 star WR every year. Over the course of 4 years, the slowest (generally) of those 4 star WR i will change to TE. After only scouting 5 positions, I'll have plenty of hours left over to scout 2 DBs a year. Can be either CB or safety. They are fairly interchangeable That's only 7 positions I had to scout for I then use whatever is left over to fill any weak spots but usually O or D line Punters and kickers I keep a year or 2 apart so I don't have to find both in the same year. I only scout them later in the season after I have most commits . I will find the replacement in the JR year so I can redshirt.
I always go after all the five stars I can first. But I really don't scout em. I'm in a league with many users so it's a race to snag up the players. Plus Nebraska doesn't have many hours to allocate

Just FYI- If you start moving too many teams around custom conf, you're gonna have whacked out shcedule, 5 homes games then 7 road games in a row..Crazy. Locked in cannot change too. The recruiting takes too long, I like to build up small school, so I use the auto and I do some. This was helpful in some ways I know now when to go after the K's. Also not to invite same position players same time so good work. The best thing to do is win, build up your abilities and recruiting hrs so you've got the players you need. It's too much work for me but that's JMO..I do more work than playing the game. It has drawbacks using assistance cuz it keeps adding till all 35 available are full then I remove some. Or keep turning assistance off and on.
There seems to be a recruiting bug right now. I’ve had Minnesota and Kent st. Made the cfp, raised my prestige and rankings. Went into the next year and had 16 total players interested in my school. No 3 stars at all. One 5 star, 8-10 4 stars and the rest only 2 stars. Idk what it is. If it’s a pipeline glitch, or a game glitch, or I’m doing something wrong. But it’s strange? Any thoughts?
First thing to do is check what you need. Also, if you use all your points into scouting, note who's good and who's a bust, close app, you get all your points back, for those interested in cheating the system.
Not sure if this helps but ive noticed turning on auto recruiter for 1 week late in the season will allow the computer to find 3 star gems more efficiently
Another really easy "cheat" is to look at the player's grade for playing time in recruiting. Without even having to spend an hour you already know if they are worth scouting based on the grade. Makes it easy to sift through defensive players when deciding who to scout and offer without wasting hours.
@@SkinnySkinnyExactly at smaller schools and positions with 2+ starters. It's best to start OL, DL and DBs. OL goes quickly, especially if you're being specific in their skills. Ex. Pass blocking for Air Raid O. DLs can switch position (DE to OLB) so multiple scouting is going to happen. DBs, specifically CB, is like DL.
Maybe ive been lucky, but i wait till the end of the transfer portal for any kicker, punter, and FB if needed and just offer a scholarship to unoffered players. I have always picked up 3* kickers and punters that last week. Im sure my luck will run out, also im not playing as big schools so my small hours are needed elsewhere. I dont see the need for scouting those positions either. Maybe if i was Navy and wanted a beast FB....
As a small school agreed. As a big school I like waiting until about week 8 or 9 when I have spare hours to scout kickers and punters. And the first gem I see I just stop scouting and get that guy lol
I did some research and I took deep threat wide receivers and recorded their scouting stats. I found that the worst overall for any given stat of a 4 star was equal to the average of that same stat for a 3 star. You’re gonna be better off with a bust than a normal off a lower level and possibly a Green gem of a lower level. If anyone is interested I might be able to share some of my work. I want to do more, but it takes a lot of time due to also recording skill caps and dev traits of players.
Nah bro. The answer is as always…it depends. Skill caps are king and you won’t know what you got until the next season starts. So many 4 star players stuck in the 70s because of skill caps. I’d rather load up on 3 stars and cut the duds every year.
A lot of 5 star busts I got had normal dev trait and had super high skill caps, maxing out between 78-83. But I have had a couple with impact and super high skill caps so it worked out fine
@@JuanHernandez-uh5fz My research includes dev traits and skill caps. The average number skill caps of 4 star busts is 15.6, and the average number of skill caps for all 3 stars is 18.6. Dev trait averages are very close, but you’re slightly more likely to get an impact dev from a 4 star bust. Note 3 star gems. 3 star gems have an average of 15.75 skill caps but an average impact dev trait. So a 3 star gem on average can develop faster but a 4 star bust will have a better overall to start with. If I’m going with the averages, I will roll the dice on a 4 star bust.
Yeah I have to say that I disagree with your philosophy not to scout mid season. For one, you get to know more prpspects throughout the season, second, you still for the most part can find gems later through the weeks that don’t have offers, and third, you get all your points back you spend in scouting each week…not to mention if you are playing it out, you are at most wanting to bring in 20 ish players each class anyways so you may as well spend time actually scouting.
The only disclaimer is if you are a 4 star school who only scouts 4 and 5s… but with 3 and below, you are going to benefit more by scouting each player and finding good gems each week for the positions of need
Poodle is absolutely right. He said don’t continuously scout throughout the season. There should be almost no additional scouting until guys are signed and you have tons of available points
That only gives you a chance of immediately signing if you have dream school ability unlocked. But if you are going up against big schools you will never get 1st on their list without a scholarship.
Works well if the player is one star lower than your team’s star. Or if you’re just at a huge school but if you’re a small school your better off just offering
@@PoodleGamingNot sure if this works, but I'm using it. For players I didn't get to scout or added after the preseason scouting, I just go to the My School tab, go to the playing time section, and look at the recruits' on my board PT grade. In theory it should compare them to what's already on your roster, but also allow you to compare them to each other. Remove the players with lower grades, and pursue the higher grades players. Would be a nice theory to test.
There's no perfect way to do this.If you remove the CPU help its monotonous stuff. You can get to the point where you have a 4-5 star program and can't recruit a damn punter or kicker. In the entire country not one kicker wants to play for you? Be real. The defense is harder to recruit especially for some reason DT's and LB's....I can't believe the low kick power either, 69? 74, wth? Even if you redshirt em the nest season they don't get any better. What do you mean there is too many prospects? Like on a board or in total available? In total available it makes sense to have 2,000 plus players since it's fairly realistic. There is thousands of high-schools across the country and if there is just at least a 1 star in each school. That's a thousand players
