Great video, I can not tell the difference once painted they both look the same.

The feel of a metal mini will always be my favorite. Open up a copy of 1st edition. Dump some dice and metal on the table and roll. I really do love the way they have come with plastics now. I still like doing my own base though. Thanks for the video

Family before plastic or metal. I agree completely ;) As an oldschool painter I prefere the feeling of metal when I paint, but since the plastic ones are almost as detailed and cost less, the choice is really getting harder. Thanks for again a great video and awesome paintjob.

I like your videos, your clear explanations are great to hear and see. Thanks for making this, I'm just getting back into painting models after a break of decades (I got an honorable mention in Golden Demon in 1988). A fairly important distinction between metal and plastic - metal recycles.

Hi Michael, thanks for sharing! I can tell the metal one looks a tiny bit sharper, but it's close!

In terms of price, I'd note the savings isn't as great as it used to be for human sized characters. There are still, even after the price hike on metals, several that are the same price or lower for metals. Larger creatures quickly blow through that but the days of these being $3.99 are well over.
And thumbs up on taking care of the parents. I helped take care of my mom for years. Often a thankless job but it's not something one is doing to be thanked.

Hi Joe, hope you are doing OK, It has been ages since we had a chat, yeah gone are the days of Reaper being the company we all went to for our cheap miniatures they are in the same group as Mantic games now and both companies are getting closer and closer the Games Workshop prices, however, the miniatures are still beautiful from Reaper but my wallet can not afford much anymore so painting what I have now and Bones 6 will be sadly my last Kickstarter from Reaper Miniatures.

Those look great. Reaper's plastic minis have come a long way. The Dungeon Dweller line is my favorite as well.

Hi Decado, I did back the Dungeon Dwellers Kickstarter with the miniatures so once I get it I will be painting all the Dungeon Dwellers miniatures on TH-cam videos.

I totally agree with you: metal always wins. The feel, the weight, the quality. Plastic just isn't the same.

It looked the same to me, before you mentioned it: there's a minor difference in the depth of the details in favor of the metal, but for tabletop purposes negligible, really. Of course, I'm like you, and metal will always be my thing because it always has been--like real books instead of kindle. But I agree that unfortunately, metal is pretty much on its way out. I'm sure some old guys like us will keep making them until our generation passes, and for a while at least until the plastic gets even better, it will probably still be used for super-high quality painting for competition and display. I have so many unpainted metals (and still collecting) that I'll most likely never really get into the plastics; but I do wish Reaper would make another go at a pre-painted line to compete with Wizkids (that is, to blow Wizkids out of the water). Those I would buy, to build quick and easy armies, and populate scenes with npcs.
