    About 20 years ago I used to own a red 1974 Mk 2. It was a LHD US car, rebuilt before I bought it. Except for a small oil leak from the seal onto the exhaust manifold, the Lotus engine was reliable. The Sunbeam 4-speed transmission was rebuilt shortly before I got it, and it felt like new. The electrics were mostly fine except for one day when the power to the added fuel pump vanished. That problem challenged 2 Ph.d. electrical engineers and 1 Cal Tech physics Ph.d. So I called up the experts at the UK's Cropredy Bridge Garage in UK, who sent me a wiring diagram. That helped and we fixed it.
    The Jensen-Healey was great fun to drive. I sold it at auction for about what I paid for it. The buyer owned a bakery in Arnhem Holland. He shipped it back there, which is where it likely still resides. It's former home in my garage has been taken over by a Honda S2000, which I keep pristine and fully stock. The S2000 revs higher, corners better, but sometimes I still miss the more primitive Jensen-Healey.

    I first drove one of these in the early 90s belonging to a coworker. He kept telling me to rev higher before shifting - I'd had a TR6 and MGB prior. Once I hit that sweet spot around 5500-6k rpm I was blown away. I now have two in my garage undergoing restoration. Thank you for the motivation in this presentation and congrats to Adam on having such a fine example.

      Thanks for your kind words Clinton, she's certainly a strong runner with plenty of miles left. And yes these Lotus engines like to rev as you know!

    I used to have a '73 Jensen Healey in white . I used it to tow my MG Midget race car . It didn't like that and I had to replace the main bearings before selling it . I'm 6' 3" and had about a dozen Spitfires , got in them easily .

    Just got my 73 JH going after sitting for 12 years, she's running really nice. These are totally forgotten and overlooked classics. Nothing like the noise of a twin weber or del screaming away at 7k rpm. Mine is red too, somehow it's the best color for this design.

      That's great to hear, hope to see more videos of yours. Yeah hopefully they'll get more recognition with this. Absolutely that engine note is a form of addiction I reckon! Yes I do prefer red, it has a good presence.

    Hi Adam, great video, best Jensen Healey video on TH-cam 👍.
    I just watched another with you being followed by a blue JH fitted with a V8 engine and you were clearly easily pulling away from him in acceleration. I have a white 74 Mk 2 and have also done the 2.2 conversion.
    A couple of questions are you using the standard camshafts and how is the 4 speed. Gearbox holding up to the extra power.
    I heard the Sunbeam Rapier 4 speeds were only ever meant for 120 horses.

    • @wazzzup67
      @wazzzup67 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Carl, I'm glad you enjoyed it (the thanks really goes to Adrian as he did all the organising - I just drove lots!)
      The chap in the blue JH could have accelerated away faster but his engine is in need of a reubild so I suspect he was taking it easier.
      Sure, I have 107s on mine and the 4 speed + overdrive copes fine with the extra power. I can downshift from 4th to 2nd aggressively (matching rpm to road speed ofcourse) and it has been absolutely fine so far. I haven't held the rpm at 6k and dumped the clutch in 1st as that may destroy it but letting the clutch in in a reasonable time has been fine to date. My box was built by a rootes guru from what I can rememeber but I can vouch it does work for fast road use.
      Hope this helps, if you have any other questions feel free to email me on adam.fischer@hotmail.co.uk

    Despite having once (about 1987) been a passenger in a J-reg Frog Eye Sprite (if memory serves) I'm sorry to say that I had completely forgotten about these motors. Thanks for the reminder 🤔. Can't afford one now as my £ is all tied up in a 1972 Rover P5B lol.
    Excellent production. Has there been any filming done on the Interceptor that I saw lurking on the garage? If so please post a link and I will watch it. Thanks 😃. Stay safe out there 👍.

      It's an Interceptor variant known as the SP (six pack carburettor), here are a few links to gopro footage I took years ago th-cam.com/video/umKfuus3SBQ/w-d-xo.html, th-cam.com/video/lrZKvI8kY-w/w-d-xo.html. They're no way comparable to this video but should give you an idea how one sounds when setup correctly!

      Absolutely awesome - makes my P5B hang its head in shame. Wish they still made British cars the way they used to - nothing compared (apart from some old American muscle of course).
      All the best & stay safe bud 👍.

    Nice little film which swayed me to go out and buy one which needs a bit of work to the engine and so I would love to know where you went for the rebuild?

    • @wazzzup67
      @wazzzup67 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had it built by the Healey specialist from the Jensen Owners' Club. Have you considered joining?

    • @acresd1
      @acresd1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wazzzup67 I haven't joined since it looked like it was mostly for Americans and it cost a bit. Is there a UK club? My engine is only firing on 3 and needs some work to the head so I would like to use a specialist to sort it. I may consider going up to 2.2 if I can find someone good to do the work and it doesn't cost a fortune, hence thought it would be good to ask you. Who was the Healey specialist you used?
