Advances in these sectors and types of applications will be more evident in the future (near future actually) as we concentrate more on tackling issues like climate change, sustainable water management, hydro informatics, pollution control, etc.

hey recent graduate here. i’m thinking of learning python while i search for jobs in the field to build more skills, especially after i recently saw articles on machine learning used in hydrology/water quality analysis. i was wondering if there is a good starting point (books, online courses, etc) python or R coding to prepare to get into this field. (i’ve only used python with very surface level knowledge from my friends in cs to do some homeworks faster😅). pretty exciting to hear from you that coding other than matlab courses from undergrad is useful. any insights would be helpful, thanks!!
Both python and R are extremely useful so I would say to learn them both. But I recommend starting with R because there are typically more classes and TH-cam videos showing you how to use it. There are great books on R as well that you can use

Hey Thoeun! Environmental science don’t typically have a hard time switching into environmental engineering. You just gotta get a handle on the math. Not everyone codes. At the end of the day you gotta choose a masters degree you know you can finish and that will help you achieve your career goals. Best of luck to you!

It really depends on your specialty. R, python, Berkeley Madonna, and sometimes compound discover are used by environmental engineers
