Why do Harari women wear hijab?
Is it obligatory for Muslim women to wear the hijab according to Islam?
Today if one performs a simple google search and searches those very words, they would come to the conclusion that the hijab is a religious requirement. Highly-respected Islamic scholars on TH-cam also agree, echoing this stance as they hold the top spots on the platform, their videos viewed thousands of times. Many Muslim women wear the hijab, so it's easy to assume that the reason they are wearing it is because of its connection to Islam.
But according to Islamic texts, is it mandatory for Muslim women to wear the hijab? And what happens if they don't?
