Just say in general many other Mario characters (not yet count DKC and Wario ones) are not Smash fighters too. Waluigi is definitely not the only remaining nonplayable one.
GOD I HOPE THERE ARENT THAT MANY SMASH GAMES! Sakurai has already spoken about how stressful the games are for him, and that he cant even use a computer mouse. Plus he never intended for there to be more than one smash, and he even found out about it at the SAME TIME AS THE PUBLIC.

i wouldn't disagree but remember one thing, Nintendo is the one to make decisions, not fans. They did other choices surprising doesn't mean that they will eventually do what we want. That’s because Piranha Plant was Waluigi’s Partner in Mario Party 3. And I think Waluigi would be proud to see his own partner be in Smash. Even though he wasn’t in Smash as a fighter, he’s just happy to be included.
I'm actually one of those people who really wish to see Waluigi be a playable fighter, however not because of the memes, i've always just liked him as a character because he just rubbed off as an underdog to me. I think there is so much potential for a unique moveset with him if the Smash team would simply give him a chance!
I don't mean there are no serious and loyal fans. But what makes Waluigi a meme and Nintendo don't agree is that Waluigi is indeed a less significant character from Mario series when most other characters have more spotlights already. Potential is very different from actually happens things, and Nintendo wants to bring in references from past ganes, that is very important. Waluigi does need a chance, but it should be Miyamoto and Mario game directors to take the job first by giving Waluigi a featured game. As for Smash bros it has to take care of all Nintendo game franchises, and it is not used to promote a character who lacks attention firm his/her game series, if that can also apply to many other Nintendo characters as well. Only when Waluigi has become as important as most Smash fighters currently should Nintendo count him in.

I've always been a fan of characters like Waluigi. It's partially for the meme, but I still really like him. Whenever me and my friends play Mario kart I rush to grab Waluigi before they do. If I'm too late, I just grab Luigi. Luigi is cool too. I'm not buying super smash brows until they add Waluigi.
I like Waluigi, but really by your mind many people don't want to play Smash games. Smash is after all not about specific characters but more the crossover idea. Waluigi is also absent from many games like 3D World and Odyssey, so I feel like they should also be judged.

I consider piranha plant as a really creative character. A challenge for Sakurai to make a creative character from what seemed like a basic enemy from Mario. Piranha plant in smash is simply Sakurai showing his creativity off. Uh... what? You're supposed to know that Wario in Smash represents his own series. If he has a partner fighter by logic you can only choose between Mona, Ashley or Jimmy . Waluigi can only be nominated as a Mario fighter, he is irrelevant with Wario in Smash bros classification. It's weird cause you don't sound like other characters such as Birdo, KatAna or Pauline are also part of this group as well. And if you just mean that the whole Mario series main cast can be inserted by such logic, other franchises like Kirby, Xenoblade and Zelda series may do such request to add a sidekick/rival as well. Smash bros cannot insert all main casts of all series, which is why selection is necessary. Unless there are over 200 fighter slots to allow all of them. Ultimately the only game you can have all Mario main cast playable, is simply just a Mario game. You cannot expect the same in Smash bros as it has to deal with twenty other Nintendo franchises out there. Really by your point, then Super Mario games are already incomplete due to Waluigi's consistent absence and we never saw Waluigi portrayed as a main partner or villain to Mario. It should happen in the original series first before we really move on to Smash bros.
Piranha Plant's representation as a fighter is pretty revolutionary for character inclusion in my eyes. It proves that not every fighter has to be one of the main protagonists or main antagonists, but can be plain enemies too. As long as they have good moveset potential, it can work out (and Piranha Plants CAN move, mind you. Ptooies exist. And Piranha Plant represents the species, not just the vanilla Piranha Plant).

i think what is going on here is that they simply want Waluigi in smash due to what his fanbase has made up for him. They pretty much made him an interesting character and it's so ingrained into people's minds that he's more than what Nintendo envisioned for him, which is, to be an extra slot. He wasn't intended to have a following and it's clear Nintendo don't care about him outside of party games. Yeah it's pretty cruel they added a plant into smash instead of him but maybe Nintendo just regretted making him and want to make his fanbase angry. Nintendo aren't exactly ones to care about fans.
This is the most accurate representation of how Nintendo feels about Waluigi vs the fans. They (Nintendo) see him as filler and not worth time and resources to become a fighter. I don't think that makes a difference. Spinoffs or not, the spinoffs are still Mario games. Why should being in a "main series" game be a requirement to get in if Dr. Mario's in, and if there is no canon in the Mario universe?

Tbh the only real argument I can think of against Waluigi's inclusion is that making a moveset for him may be tricky. But hey, I did it, as did many others, and all that was really needed was research and creativity (and feedback too).

Marth is great at spacing Lucina is overall the most balanced of the swords Roy is the strongest rushdown swordsman due to his hilt mechanic Chrom is slightly more balanced Roy with different approach and kill options. Mii Swordfighter has reliable projectiles. Link has a really strong grab game and bomb shenanigans Young Link has very low ending lag on his moves, making him a great hit and run character. Toon Link has faster start up on his moves than Young Link, but slower end lag, making Toon Link the most aggressive projectile swordsman in the game. Ike has a completely different moveset from all of them bar Chroms aether. Ganondorf isn't even primarily a swordsman Robin focusses on magic more than his Sword. Corrin has huge disjoints and a lot of moves actually involve dragon powers over Sword attacks. Meta Knight has great aerial coverage like pit, but also has the best recovery of the swords, making him have more survivability. Cloud has the limit gauge mechanic which makes him be his own thing by itself. It may not seem like much on paper, but these factors heavily change the way you play each character. The only ones that are really clones and can be played similarly is Marth and Lucina, but even they have different combos.

Honestly I think the reason why waluigi failed to be playable along with popular assist trophies such as issac shadow and shovel knight was due to the smash ballot. If you recall the smash ballot was basically a suggestion box on what the fans (as a whole) wanted to see playable in smash. Once bayonetta won the ballot (which is debatable but she is still a popular characther) the team looked at the results and see what everyone wanted. I believe that all the newcomers are the winners of the ballot since this is what fans wanted the most worldwide (keep in mind some characthers may have only been popular in one area during the ballot.) After all, the ballot allowed any characther to be suggested as long as they came from a video game and if you give them a good reason. Not to mention that almost every newcomer is a fan favortie. Incineroar despite not existing during the ballot still makes sense since he is also a popular gen 7 pokemon. I think that the assist trophies stayed as assist trophies due to other fanbases outclassed them with their size. For ex golden sun and waluigi fans may have a fanbase but they are significantly smaller than many of these newcomer like ridley king k rool etc. They got beaten out by the vote. Another thing that could have happen was that maybe their fanbase wasted (for example they didnt take it seriously and refrence a meme therefore giving nintendo the impression that they dont care) or not voted for their characther thinking that they were guarantee a spot. Lastly, for all we know maybe these characthers aren't as popular worldwide. Their is tons of fan poll that say that characthers like issac waluigi shovel knight etc were the true winners. However they are wrong since nintendo is only looking at the official smash ballot. Plus if the polls show them winning then they would have easily made it in the game since "apperantly they were high demand". After all we got: ridley a characther that was a stage hazzard, daisy who could have easily been ignored but due to fan demand gave her a chance, chrom and ken popular characther that many people liked despite being echoes , dark samus and isabelle assist trophies that got promoted thanks to their popularity, simon and king k rool two characthers that have been absent for years got in thanks to their fans.

Honestly, Waluigi could be a sports representative for the Mario Series, but it isnt likely since Smash represents the important and memorable/purposeful characters in the series they're from. Daisy and Piranha Plant have memorable times like PP being a character found in many/if not all the mario games somewhere and being a important hazard in Mario's quest. Daisy was a main damsel in distress in Super Mario Land and her many appearances in other titles shows she hasn't been forgotten. Meanwhile Waluigi has been forgotten before ( *In Mario Kart 7* , where they even remembered the Honey Queen form Mario Galaxy). Waluigi doesn't serve any purpose or importance other than a filler character for Wario. Memes were what brought his popularity up and, if you ask me, being requested because people want a meme character in Smash and he's the closest they'll get isn't a great strategy

I'm actually one of those people who really wish to see Waluigi be a playable fighter, however not because of the memes, i've always just liked him as a character because he just rubbed off as an underdog to me. I think there is so much potential for a unique moveset with him if the Smash team would simply give him a chance!
I don't mean there are no serious and loyal fans. But what makes Waluigi a meme and Nintendo don't agree is that Waluigi is indeed a less significant character from Mario series when most other characters have more spotlights already. Potential is very different from actually happens things, and Nintendo wants to bring in references from past ganes, that is very important.
Waluigi does need a chance, but it should be Miyamoto and Mario game directors to take the job first by giving Waluigi a featured game. As for Smash bros it has to take care of all Nintendo game franchises, and it is not used to promote a character who lacks attention firm his/her game series, if that can also apply to many other Nintendo characters as well. Only when Waluigi has become as important as most Smash fighters currently should Nintendo count him in.

I consider piranha plant as a really creative character. A challenge for Sakurai to make a creative character from what seemed like a basic enemy from Mario. Piranha plant in smash is simply Sakurai showing his creativity off. This was intended as a joke and was made to mess with Waluigi fans but really shows Sakurai having fun messing with the the characters.

Uh... what? You're supposed to know that Wario in Smash represents his own series. If he has a partner fighter by logic you can only choose between Mona, Ashley or Jimmy . Waluigi can only be nominated as a Mario fighter, he is irrelevant with Wario in Smash bros classification. It's weird cause you don't sound like other characters such as Birdo, KatAna or Pauline are also part of this group as well.
And if you just mean that the whole Mario series main cast can be inserted by such logic, other franchises like Kirby, Xenoblade and Zelda series may do such request to add a sidekick/rival as well. Smash bros cannot insert all main casts of all series, which is why selection is necessary. Unless there are over 200 fighter slots to allow all of them. Ultimately the only game you can have all Mario main cast playable, is simply just a Mario game. You cannot expect the same in Smash bros as it has to deal with twenty other Nintendo franchises out there.
Really by your point, then Super Mario games are already incomplete due to Waluigi's consistent absence and we never saw Waluigi portrayed as a main partner or villain to Mario. It should happen in the original series first before we really move on to Smash bros.
Piranha Plant's representation as a fighter is pretty revolutionary for character inclusion in my eyes. It proves that not every fighter has to be one of the main protagonists or main antagonists, but can be plain enemies too. As long as they have good moveset potential, it can work out (and Piranha Plants CAN move, mind you. Ptooies exist. And Piranha Plant represents the species, not just the vanilla Piranha Plant).

i think what is going on here is that they simply want Waluigi in smash due to what his fanbase has made up for him. They pretty much made him an interesting character and it's so ingrained into people's minds that he's more than what Nintendo envisioned for him, which is, to be an extra slot. He wasn't intended to have a following and it's clear Nintendo don't care about him outside of party games.
Yeah it's pretty cruel they added a plant into smash instead of him but maybe Nintendo just regretted making him and want to make his fanbase angry. Nintendo aren't exactly ones to care about fans.

Tbh the only real argument I can think of against Waluigi's inclusion is that making a moveset for him may be tricky. But hey, I did it, as did many others, and all that was really needed was research and creativity (and feedback too).

Roy is the strongest rushdown swordsman due to his hilt mechanic
Chrom is slightly more balanced Roy with different approach and kill options.
Mii Swordfighter has reliable projectiles.
Link has a really strong grab game and bomb shenanigans
Young Link has very low ending lag on his moves, making him a great hit and run character.
Toon Link has faster start up on his moves than Young Link, but slower end lag, making Toon Link the most aggressive projectile swordsman in the game.
Ike has a completely different moveset from all of them bar Chroms aether.
Ganondorf isn't even primarily a swordsman
Robin focusses on magic more than his Sword.
Corrin has huge disjoints and a lot of moves actually involve dragon powers over Sword attacks.
Meta Knight has great aerial coverage like pit, but also has the best recovery of the swords, making him have more survivability.
Cloud has the limit gauge mechanic which makes him be his own thing by itself.
It may not seem like much on paper, but these factors heavily change the way you play each character. The only ones that are really clones and can be played similarly is Marth and Lucina, but even they have different combos.

Honestly I think the reason why waluigi failed to be playable along with popular assist trophies such as issac shadow and shovel knight was due to the smash ballot. If you recall the smash ballot was basically a suggestion box on what the fans (as a whole) wanted to see playable in smash. Once bayonetta won the ballot (which is debatable but she is still a popular characther) the team looked at the results and see what everyone wanted.
I believe that all the newcomers are the winners of the ballot since this is what fans wanted the most worldwide (keep in mind some characthers may have only been popular in one area during the ballot.) After all, the ballot allowed any characther to be suggested as long as they came from a video game and if you give them a good reason. Not to mention that almost every newcomer is a fan favortie. Incineroar despite not existing during the ballot still makes sense since he is also a popular gen 7 pokemon.
I think that the assist trophies stayed as assist trophies due to other fanbases outclassed them with their size. For ex golden sun and waluigi fans may have a fanbase but they are significantly smaller than many of these newcomer like ridley king k rool etc. They got beaten out by the vote. Another thing that could have happen was that maybe their fanbase wasted (for example they didnt take it seriously and refrence a meme therefore giving nintendo the impression that they dont care) or not voted for their characther thinking that they were guarantee a spot. Lastly, for all we know maybe these characthers aren't as popular worldwide.
Their is tons of fan poll that say that characthers like issac waluigi shovel knight etc were the true winners. However they are wrong since nintendo is only looking at the official smash ballot. Plus if the polls show them winning then they would have easily made it in the game since "apperantly they were high demand". After all we got: ridley a characther that was a stage hazzard, daisy who could have easily been ignored but due to fan demand gave her a chance, chrom and ken popular characther that many people liked despite being echoes , dark samus and isabelle assist trophies that got promoted thanks to their popularity, simon and king k rool two characthers that have been absent for years got in thanks to their fans.

They mad cause daisy made the main roster over him but she been around longer then him, she been more games then him including two mainline games so she has a bigger fanbase then him. People need to realize that everyone don't have the same opinion as they do. There other characters people like better then the ones themselves do. All videos like this shows that fans like wuluigi need to do a bit more growing up.

Honestly, Waluigi could be a sports representative for the Mario Series, but it isnt likely since Smash represents the important and memorable/purposeful characters in the series they're from. Daisy and Piranha Plant have memorable times like PP being a character found in many/if not all the mario games somewhere and being a important hazard in Mario's quest. Daisy was a main damsel in distress in Super Mario Land and her many appearances in other titles shows she hasn't been forgotten. Meanwhile Waluigi has been forgotten before ( *In Mario Kart 7* , where they even remembered the Honey Queen form Mario Galaxy). Waluigi doesn't serve any purpose or importance other than a filler character for Wario. Memes were what brought his popularity up and, if you ask me, being requested because people want a meme character in Smash and he's the closest they'll get isn't a great strategy
