I currently have a 6th Generation, and I mainly skipped the 7th Generation just because of the CPU, the 7th Generation still had the 4 year old A10 Fusion, and that was a BIG deal breaker for a pro user, but now with the 8th Generation, with the A12 Bionic, I think it’s worth the upgrade over the 6th Generation!
you should consider getting a good condition iPad air 3 off of swappa instead. Same processor but the screen is laminated, bigger, true tone, and it has better speakers.

I ordered the yellow one thinking it was going to be a bright vibrant color. Instead I looks like more of a Gold color. I personally prefer the gold look. Definitely not disappointed but just a heads up to the ones expecting a brighter cream of yellow.

Apple supports it's hardware for 5 years, so iPad 6th gen is good till 2023.
probably 6 years for the 6th gen (7 years even) because the ipad air 2 from 2014 still got the latest 2020 software (probably because the air 2 has 2GB RAM), so it's likely that the 6th gen will get 6/7 years of support
from my predictions, 6th gen may last up to 2021 or 2024 or 2026
Idk I think it might only last one or two more years. The a10 came out in 2016. So five years would put it at 2021. The five years of support is mostly for th new chips. The a10 was an older chip. The iPhone 6 reached its end software already, so 6s is probably done after iOS 14 then iOS 15 might be the last year year for the a10/iPhone 7

I just upgraded from 6th gen to 8th gen and I love it. I had WiFi software issues with my 6th gen that could not be resolved by apple so I traded it in.
I sold my 6th Gen 128gb for 280$ and bought a 8th Gen 128gb on sale for $379. Ended up paying only $120 to upgrade after taxes etc. Do you guys think that price was worth the upgrade?

@@ryeeeee the A12 is 40% faster than the A10 and the 8th gen has 3gb ram and slightly bigger screen then the 6th gen better speakers and a faster charger.

I’m trying to add the clock widget but it’s not giving the right time it’s giving California time how can I fix this? Plus the battery widget I want to see the 100% it only give me options for the Apple Watch and phone together instead the phone only!
simple for the clock: go to settings,go to the time section and you will see california USA click on it and type in your country name and state
the battery widget is useless just look at the top right you can see your batttery

I would get a generation 8 iPad but I heard it doesn't take a standard ear plug for use with headphones like the iPad 6 does. I listen to my iPad via headphones most of the time.

My iPad 6th gen fell off a coffee table and the screen shattered so easily, it had a screen protector and cover also. I was amazed how easily the screen shattered in comparison to my 8th gen which took a much harder fall out of my backpack when I was rushing to school. The only damage is at the corner on the frame, also surprised because I forgot to put the screen protector on it. Im sure it’s because the 8th is much lighter than the 6th, the weight is very noticeable. so I underestimated my cover. Lesson learned.

If it’s slow or you’re having issues you should think about upgrading, otherwise you won’t really notice a difference besides the screen. Extra performance is great but not necessary for most people haha

Only good reason for upgrading in your case as a student would be if you need apple pen support.
The only reason you would want to upgrade would be if you want to use an iPad for art- in which case I would recommend upgrading for the purpose of having Apple Pencil support.

Regardless if there budget models, I cant stand how bad the speakers our on any just “ipad” model. I returned my 8th gen iPad and went back to the 6th gen model. The speakers facetime were worse on the 8th gen. I want apple to improve the front camera at least and speakers on these models. Its a multimedia mini computer, so they should be as good the phone imo its coming from. Im waiting for the ipad mini 6 if it doesnt have better speakers and a camera flash I will def be picking a different ipad.

If you’re playing current games like Genshin impact, the iPad 6 is not as smooth. I ran the game on low setting for all at 30fps in graphic settings and there are stutters and frame freeze.
If you’re streaming movies, watching TH-cam, social networking,playing non intensive games (candy crush, aov, FTL, ml) or web browsing, you don’t need to get the iPad 8.

my son broke our iPad last summer and we were broke for a very long time. we tried android ! This is my point unless a iPad is at least 3 -5 years old then they are best tablets on the market . apple makes powerful phones and tablets. I just wouldn't buy anything slower then apple A10 chip.

In order to get the ipad 8th gen for $300-$350 you have to order the pathetic 32 GB.
The only other GB Ipad that's offered is the 128 GB and that will run you $100 more. So now you're in the low to mid $400s. No longer cheap / a good deal.

@@buket5874 @Buket The iPad works amazing after 3 years of use and 4 years since launch date, it rarely lags, the battery drains kinda fast but the a10 fusion chip is old, i did online classes on it so it works ok! And apple supports it's hardware till 2023 (5 years) but that's kind of a short amount of time from 2021 to 2023. I suggest the 8th gen because it's better as hardware, more processing power, less laggy and a bit bigger screen. The gen 6 is 9.7" and the gen 8 is 10.2"
