I'd take that Rick James-P-Funk show over led zeppelin any/every day of the week-including being the only white boy=way cool brother....

I see where LA guns is doing the little Hells bells intro into never enough in 2023. It’s pretty cool.

They've been doing that for a few years now. I saw a few 2019 shows and it was part of the set list back then.

My first concert was Aerosmith around 1977 I think. Other early concerts were Yes and ELP. Our parents used to drop us off and pick us up at the Providence Civic Center in RI. Got more into punk in the 80s. My first punk concert was X at Brown University, early 80s. Wish I had saved all my ticket stubs.

I think my first was also Skynyrd in 74, at the Spectrum. The Outlaws did open. I had a Ticketron hook-up and went to everything. Back then it was general admission and the front row was really front row, you were pushed up leaning over the edge of the stage. It was an amazing time.

I loved Creem Magazine-really boned up on The Velvet Underground in that mag!Lester Bang's writings are legendary!First time I heard of GNR,which made me buy it in July 1987-at that time it was considered an underground/alternative record, like Sonic Youth or Teenage Fanclub-just the facts:)

@@beforeiforget1985 SO very cool! I had such a crush on him as a kid. His mom had a pic of him hanging prominently in her house, wearing his Mothership Tour outfit - silver pants and cape, no shirt. It was the first ever interaction that gave me any validation for my wild dreams of a creative life as a performer. Skeet and I are still close. One of my favorite cousins. 😊

You seen some really great stuff. I'm pretty much just like you when it comes to music there's no boundries. Today I pretty much stick to Zeppelin. Just as you were saying I never got a chance to see Zeppelin I was about to ask. Like you are with the stones that's me with Zeppelin. The day Bonzo died I was cutting school to go to the ticket office to get tickets. I was walking across the parking lot and high school was divided into different lunches so after 4th period there were always people in the lot listening to the radio and it came over the radio John died. I think it was like may and the show was going to be in September or October but I'm not sure but I remember tickets were going on sale.

@@beforeiforget1985 really interested in your thoughts on todays heavy rock/metal. I kind of got into some of them Avenged, Five Finger, Halestorm, The Pretty Reckless but they don't seem to have staying power with me. I really like God Smack but they seem to regurgitate their sound. I was into Gretta Van Fleet for a fleeting moment until I seen them and well it was disappointing. I never really felt they were the next Zeppelin like many have said. I had heard them cover Zeppelin byt they did a Doors cover that sounded more like the Doors then they did Zeppelin. Just wondering if you could touch on that ty in advance.

Didn't Vinnie Vincent play guitar for Dan Hartman for a little while? I can only imagine there was only room for one gigantic ego in that band lol

    • @beforeiforget1985

@Before I Forget ok, cool. I've never read a book via Kindle... and hope I never do... I'm a paper lover. Ok, great, I'll be there on May 15th to buy.
I forgot to ask if yr doing a book tour? But I assume not, because I'm sure you would have mentioned it.
I've met a few authors thru book signings.
I wanted to meet Hunter S. Thompson, but he shot himself in 2005.
A great example of how very long term drug use destroys your brain and thinking. Didn't mean to ramble,.. take care and can't wait to read the book. Peace from Stillwater, Oklahoma.
