    My first underway was on USS Independence (CV-62) in 1981. I stayed in the Navy until I retired. When I'm asked why I chose a military career my response is always the same, "it was an exciting way to make a living". I wish you all the best!

      Thankyou for your service! My dad also did a navy career and retired…I have not decided if that’s my path yet but it is definitely Exciting to say the least! ⚓️

    Stay safe and great job getting those quals! I sure do miss the open ocean. “It is what it is” is the best way of thinking about it.

    Former Mech in 97, 4 years ago, now about to commission as an Engineer Officer in the Army. Your videos really make me miss Lemoore, not so much the boat (shockingly).

    Aloha from Hawaii Jake! Big fan of your content. I’m an AM and I leave for boot camp next week. Two questions. How long did you go underway? Is their different types of jobs in AM? Seeing that you are an Air-framer. Thanks in advance. 🤙🏻

    • @Jakespacewolf
      @Jakespacewolf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers mate thanks for the Sub! I was on a detachment only over a week. Airframes is divided into 2 main sections O level and I Level which you’ll learn all about in A school. You’ll get orders to 1 of the 2 platforms determines if you’ll work directly on aircraft organization or intermediate maintenance. From those 2 there’s several different shops within the Airframe community once again you’ll learn soon enough. I would just focus on getting through bootcamp! Keep your head down and remember once you get through it the fleet is nothing like bootcamp! Best of luck! 🤘

    I thought as an airframer you would be working in a hanger or doing maintenance on the aircraft?

    • @Jakespacewolf
      @Jakespacewolf  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes true sometimes it just depends. For all O level aviation rates you split time working flight schedule/final checking especially if you are new you will be line shack and work flight deck the entire day! Also not all maintenance is done in hangar sometimes, if it’s small airframers have to go up top to work on the aircraft! 🛠️💪

    Do people get seasick on the carrier? Can you feel it rolling side-to-side or pitching up and down? Or is it so big you don't feel it?

    • @kellywilson8440
      @kellywilson8440 ปีที่แล้ว

    As a sailor you should know the difference in terminology between a boat and a ship. *knife hand*
    Great videos otherwise, I am just being a stickler. Thanks for what you do
