Soooo, I’ve been getting recognition from my command, a few people in the base I’m currently at and a few people from the USS Vinson. It’s just wild that a simple video can really affect how people can see the boat life. I just made this video just so people need what to do when it comes to entertainment on the ship but the fact that I got recognized just blows my mind. For the people that watched this video and mentioned this in person to me. Thank you.
@@elijahbaker6196 They get better food than the enlisted side. The main galley usually have premade food which pretty much okay but not the best. Then the CS’s in the wardroom/officers galley take their time to make food better.
@@ChaiRockyy I gotcha. I'm still pretty torn between surface warfare and aviation before I talk to a recruiter on what my options are. I have the ability to play in college but right now I'm split between playing at the navy prep school and then going to usna or going to norwich for a year and then either transferring and redshirting or just sticking at norwich for my bachelors.
I served aboard the USS Bryce Canyon, AD36, from ‘66-‘68 as an HM3. Our only entertainment when underway was a nightly movie, reading or playing cards. The ship didn’t even have AC that I can recall.
Chai, after seeing this post all I can say is count your privileged blessings. I went to sea 60 years ago on a WWII era Sumner class Destroyer and life at sea was much different and I think so were the Sailors.
Not a bad break down of being forward deployed... to A aircraft carrier, not same as being stationed State side/ but yes over seas to area that is A Aircraft command that has scheduled deployment requirement. which if I remember correctly is every other year. or 9m out / 9m in. I only been stationed States side. 20 years, 6 full 6 month deployments during my career to the med/gulf; and shore commands in D.C./ Florida. Internet At sea Sucks, Rank has it's best internet access. Or rate.. Hmm IT, But Spades is usually best form of passing time. And great cup coffee from Starbucks...
how did you download your shows and movies to the hard drive? I also have a macbook pro and going on deployment next year on the USS Abraham Lincoln so I'm trynna prepare now lol btw I love your content!!!

Very informative on entertainment, what about family, how do balance visiting family in the states?? Do you use like 2 weeks of the 30 days off a year for family and the rest for overseas?
When I was overseas in Japan the only time I use leave is when I went back to the states which was 18 days. I just go off base and visited Japan in the weekends without using leave days since the radius is 500 miles which is pretty much a big leave saver.
@@ChaiRockyy Thanks for the info. I'm planning to join next year and need some time for family/traveling. I was encouraged to not consider Air Force for traveling.
Kind of makes you wonder how previous generations of sailors survived. A reel to reel movie, usually a black and white from the 40's and 50's. Ships library sucked and most card and dice games were rigged. Yes sir had to keep entertained.
Didn’t experience a 9 month deployment. Only 6 months. At the same time there is no specific answer on which ports you’re stopping at or how many ports your going to. It all depends on the plan you get from the chain of command. You could expect 5 ports or you can expect 1 fingers crossed. And to answer your other question you can use you command PO Box for mail no matter where you are. The time you will get mail is from razzes.
If we are talking about PR’s on the ship then you are working on flight safety equipment/suits for the pilots officers. Usually it’s split from ships company to squadrons since you are in a aviation platform. Pretty good rate in my opinion.
@@sammercado6712 You’re smooth sailing. No pun intended. You’re gonna work on the flight suites and helmets for the officers and a few components on the aircraft. I’d say your rate is pretty underrated compared to other rates. I think you would like it. 👍

Definitely sending my boyfriend a switch when he’s goes to navy school at least we both have something to play together while he’s away.

Do u know if you get ship duty can u bring a guitar or would u recommend no due to lack of storage space or high risk of injury to your instrument
Yeah it really depends on space. A few instruments I saw on the ship was a guitar, snare drum, violin, DJ table and a saxophone.
really informative video taking my asvab wish me luck boys
How would you recommend getting my music from Spotify to a hard drive
I can’t really tell you how to get in this platform but if you type in on the TH-cam search “Spotify to MP3” the first video is the one I used.

Yup. Gyms rats bring it all the time.
