That shorter flange distance from the z mount really proves its adaptability here 👏🏽
Yes! Nikon Z is an adapting beast!
@@FotodioxInc not sure if anybody else knows this but because of the shorter flange, their cameras gather more light than the competition from the same settings. Almost like 1/3 or 2/3 stops brighter
Also the opening is quite big…you fit entire lenses through that thing.
@@JericTamayohow does that work? 🤔
That could only happen when you are squeezing more fov into the same sensor area.
I just received my Fotodiox Sony e to Nikon Z adapter a week ago.
I have just quickly tested it out with the Sony 35mm f/1.4 GM and it seems to work extremely well. I put on the Sigma 65mm f/2.0 and quickly did an eye autofocus test and again it worked great.
Today I’m going to put it back in my Nikon Z9 and try out several Sony and Sigma e mount lenses.
I do love the ability to switch between several different lens mounts using the Nikon Z mount . I also adapt Leica M .
For my Sony e mount I also adapt lenses. I adapt the Leica M , Nikon F and Mamiya M42 screw mount .
I like that companies like Fotodiox that are making quality adapters . My new Fotodiox Sony e to Nikon F is of a very high quality build .
Thanks Fotodiox!!!
Glad to hear you're enjoying our adapter!
So does this adapter work for all full frame lenses or is it APSC?
Having a list of compatible sigma/ tamron lenses would be great! I'm especially interested in the tamron 28-200 f2.8-5.6.
I tried the megadap adapter, and it worked great. However, it was draining the battery even with the camera off. Does your adapter have a similar issue?
Wow!. Some questions: What exif information does this adapter transfer to the camera? (as in focal length & aperture, with a generic lens). Does it transmit also distance data? Also have you tested it with third party autofocus Samyang lenses & also manual focus lenses like Voigtlander (still chipped) ? I use another brand's adapter but brass mount looks sexy and I do need to order a backup. One last question: What is the weight of lens that this adapter supports (if there is a limit? I know, many questions but these are all things consumers need answered to manage expectations :) Thank you!
It’s awesome how small this is. Also does it work with sigma e mount lenses? That would be perfect since the only reason I don’t want to switch to Nikon is they don’t have sigma z mount.
It may very well work, but we can't guarantee compatibility with third party lenses. Often they have issues communicating through our FUSION adapters.
Could I use the Sony E to Nikon Z fusion adapter in tandem with your Canon EF to Sony E ND throttle smart adapter to use EF lenses on the Nikon Z with ND and autofocus capabilities, or is that unsupported?
Does this work with Voigtlander lenses? The aperture-in-the-exif-data feature and manual focus zoom are great with those lenses, but the Meike adapter that costs $100 less than this Fotodiox one doesn't work...at least not with the Voigtlander 35mm 1.4 E-Mount. I want to keep my lens and use it without resorting to a "dumb" adapter with no contacts.
This adapter works best with first party Sony E lenses. We haven't tested it with Voigtlander lenses, but it probably would have similar issues than it does on the Meike adapter.
@@FotodioxInc So it won't work at all and put the Nikon into a loop of malfunction? Darn.
I don't know particularly much about this, but specifically, is the adapter for mirrorless versions of E-mount? If so, that is astonishing and means I might be able to hope for something like this but to be able to mount more types of lenses onto my Panasonic G95. Mirrorless lens to mirrorless camera of different brand is not possible, as far as I know.
This is our first mirrorless to mirrorless auto adapter, but we may have more coming in the future.
Adapter like this is only possible, because the flange distance for Nikon Z is shorter than other mounts - it is 2 mm shorter (16mm vs. 18mm) than Sony E mount, which is enough distance to make an adapter and the Nikon Z diameter is also much bigger than Sony E, which makes some space for the adapter as well. So this is more like an exception where a mount adapter is just possible to make and I wouldn't count that others will be made. MFT has a flange distance of 19.2mm which is bigger than Sony E, so an adapter isn't possible.
is this working for sigma lens for Sony but i will use to nikon Z?
Does this adapter work with 3rd party lenses, such as Samyang/Rokinon?
We haven't tested them, so we can't say for sure. But if they're fully manual cine lenses they should work.
Really need something like this between Canon EF-M and Sony E.
That's a good idea, but not sure if it's something we can work on right now.
@@FotodioxInc yeah there definitely needs to be market fit, thankfully there are thousands who would love to adapt their EF-M cameras with E lenses and essentially revive a dead mount.
Lots of folks did not migrate to RF mount and prefer compact options.
I would like to buy one, is it releable ? I saw some other brands reviews not that good
Will cause battery drain when adapter is on camera? Even when camera is off?
Does it offer in-camera lens distortion correction as well? The Sony 16-35mm pz lens. The Sony body corrects distortion in video and JPG. Will this adapter do that AND power the zoom?
I'm not sure how the Nikon Z handles lens distortion correction. If it's simply analyzing the image's distortion and correcting it in-camera, it should work fine. If it needs to register the Nikon Z lens's signature to do this, it won't work because the Sony E lens won't have the same signature.
I would love to test one of these out to see how well it works
We'd be willing to send you one if you're willing to purchase one :)
@@FotodioxInc I like the sound of that!
okay weird question, I'm looking at those new Sigma art lenses but they aren't for the z mount or nikon f mount so that is what I would use a ring like this for, would that work? I really like the new Sigma 50 1.2 art lens
We can't guarantee compatibility with third party Sony E lenses. They might work but we haven't tested them at this time.
Will this work on Sony Zeiss lenses? For example, 25mm f/2, 40mm f/2, and 85mm f/1.8
We haven't tested Zeiss lenses on it, so we can't say for sure.
I have the Sony A-mount to E mount adapter LA-EA5 will it work with your Adapter since it is converting it to E- mount?
It's possible that it could work, but we can't say for sure.
I have clip in filters for my full frame Nikon Z bodies. Would this adapter mean I can't use those filters anymore or they stack well on top of each other with clearance?
It depends on how much space those filters take up. If you send us a picture of the filters mounted on the rear of you e-mount lens, we could compare them to our adapter to see if there’s be space. Send the pic(s) here: fotodioxpro.com/pages/contact-us
Can I use my sigma card 150-600 E mount lens to my Nikon z8 ??? Thanku 👏🏽❤️
We can't guarantee compatibility with third party lenses, but there's a good chance that it would work. We haven't been able to test that lens so we can't say for sure.
Is it better than megadap etz21 pro??
I'm wondering the same thing, what did you end up deciding on ??
I wonder SAMYANG AF 35-150mm F2-2.8 FE works with this one for Nikon Z9.
We can't guarantee third party lens support, and we don't have that lens to test unfortunately.
Would the voigtlander 65f2 apo communicate with the z711 with this adaptor
We can't guarantee compatibility with third party lenses, so we can't say for sure. We haven't tested that lens at this time.
Do the aperture rings on Sony lenses that have it work with this adapter?
Yes, this powers Sony lenses so all functions on the Sony lens should work.
hello. could you indicate me an adapter that fits the sony zv e10 for me to use the micro four lenses...thank you...sorry..my english is not very good
Hi, we do make a Micro 4/3 lens to Sony E camera adapter, but it only works with fully manual Micro 4/3 lenses. Here's the link: fotodioxpro.com/products/mft-sne
Do you have adapter sony lens to canon rf mount ??? Thank you very much.
We do not at this time.
You mention video performance not as good as native z lenses. What about still photography? Does E on Z perform the same ?
AF will be slightly slower in video and photo modes than a Nikon z lens.
Micro USB? In 2023?
They cheap out in the weirdest of ways. It's like an extra 20 cents for the connector but thats the corner they decided to cut.
Given that the protrusion of the adapter works out to around 2mm and the megadap equivalent uses a proprietary cable clip on usb connector … I can hardly believe how ungrateful you guys are. Usb c is much bigger in volume than micro usb
@@18yearsoldnot You can clearly see that they had plenty of room for it. And we do not owe them gratitude. You've got it backwards--they should be grateful to their customers. It's corporation seeking profit, not a charity.
@@tooki3698no you can’t. You’re just looking at the surface, and even then, every millimetre compromises factor of safety or “structural integrity”. Think about the wiring for a second… Why do you think the megadap uses a proprietary clip on usb connector? Surely that’s much more expensive?
Usb c goes deeper because it requires thicker wires that can handle 50% more current, and USB-C connectors have 24 pins and wires, with 12 on each side. The arrangement of wires and pins is mirrored on both sides, which makes USB-C reversible. Usb micro only require 5 pins and wires so is a much more elegant solution for something so small.
@@18yearsoldnot Yes you can. It's a cap--they could have chosen to make it slightly differently shaped if they wanted. And USB-C doesn't require thicker wires--just because it's USB-C doesn't mean it has to carry the max current that spec allows.
Is there this adapter for sony lens for L mount ? I want use sony lenses on S5
Not at this time.
e mount to RF mount Please ^_^
We could possibly do RF lens to E body, but not the other way around. This is because E has a shorter focal flange distance than RF. E is 18mm, RF is 20mm
Does the adapter support ,
Lens function button?
What a nice thin adapter.
Does anybody here know if it funtions with the new 50mm f1.2 Sigma lens E-Mount on Nikon Zf.
If yes, then my Problem is solved
I've heard it functions best on the higher end Z8 and Z9. That said, I've heard from many people that Sigma lenes work perfectly through this adapter.
Looks interesting.
Hie i have nikon z6ii it is suitable for 3rd party lenses
We can't guarantee compatibility with 3rd party lenses.
Has anyone tried this with the Sigma 14mm f/1.4?
We haven't, but in general we can't guarantee compatibility with third party lenses.
Works on Z8/Z9
Yes, it should work fine on both.
Great that this works. But I have to say this feels kind of cursed
That adapter looks so thin I’d be afraid to use a Sony GM 50mm f1.2 because the lens might just fall out 😅😅
It's a really strong mount, would hold that lens no problem.
Wish all adaptor are this thin
That would be cool, but the main reason they're not is because of focal flange distance. Most older lenses have a longer focal flange distance than mirrorless lenses do, so they require longer adapters to focus to infinity.
Does it have MF
Yes, you can set the camera/lens to manual focus and focus that way too.
alright how would one put it on im getting on for chirmtas!
@@FotodioxInc
Too bad there isn't an adapter for the other way around.
Would lose infinity focus due to the longer flange distance of E mount vs Z
Unfortunately that wouldn’t work due to focal flange difference.
Finally, a solution to fix Sony's horrible color science
I see what you did there :)
Work Well with sigma dg dn ?
We haven't tested it with that lens, but third party lens support is spotty.
