In response to the elderly man’s comment, I must say, I’m quite troubled by the number of friends who express their bitter disdain for rap/hip hop. Like any art form, it can be used/prostituted to promote destructive forces, but that is not rap’s core essence. It is an art form, and Baha’u’llah has exalted art to the station of worship. Imagine, a believer expressing their hatred for worship?! It seems unfathomable, but this is the implication of the statement “I hate hip hop.”
My wish is for the friends to simply appreciate my music without qualifying it with their general dislike of rap. Additionally, rap/hip hop are deeply rooted in Black culture, so when someone expresses their hatred of hip hop, it’s often the result of conscious or subconscious racism, which is of course completely contrary to the spirit of the Cause.
Again, I’m well aware that much of main stream hip hop is immersed in destructive forces, but this is the case for so many forms of art and media, yet hip hop seems to be the target for an unjust proportion of disdain.
Sorry to go on a rant! It’s just something I feel passionate about due to the number of similar comments I’ve received from the friends on this matter. Something to reflect upon!

There's a lot of new independent rappers on the scene like Dax or Tom macdonald, and I read on the comment section comments like "I'm a 56 year old veteran that hates rap music, but I love this song (in god we trust)". It seems to be widespread.
In regards to Bahá'ís, they never listen to hip-hop, so how can they hate something they've never heard?
I play lots of hip-hop, in Bahá'í feasts, and they all are very well received. Last year I played a song called first counsel, and this year I played Ayyám-i-Há, the fast, and Naw-Rúz, and they were all very well received.

It is my understanding that it is both Persian new year (with its roots in Zoroastrianism), as well as Baha'i new year for members of the Baha'i Faith (such as myself) across the world. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 🙏🏽
