  • HOW TO BUDGET FOR LIFESTYLE ON ANY INCOME | In this video, I show you how to have a content and satisfying lifestyle, regardless of your income. If you have a little discretionary income after accounting for your wealth goals and your bills, even if your discretionary income is as low as $100, you can manage your money to begin building your desired lifestyle. After your needs are taken care of, happiness is really up to you.
The key to doing this is in realizing that money is a resource, a tool, that is used to fulfill a certain purpose. And what is that purpose? YOU DECIDE!
On a lower income, you might not build that lifestyle as fast due to the limited resources. But it is still possible to this at a slow pace if you focus on trying out one enjoyable activity at a time. Having a lower income will also exercise your mind to get creative and resourceful, to come up with solutions that do not entail money.

My Sister from another mother (right along my other relative, Andrew Yang haha)! ANNIE! THANK YOU for tackling this topic that I suggested. It is a broad topic but your video has shared some great tips and inspirations from your life. I was cracking up when you told us about your soaking scarf (thought it was an ascot at first lol) and making peanut butter jelly sandwiches when you travel (so ASIAN XD). Keep up the great work and I look forward to your part 2!

I need to start saving for a used car so I can ditch the car payment. My car is $350 to lease per month. That's a lot. My insurance is high too at $350 per month. I could do so much more with that money. Also, I need to stop spending $150 a week on food. My grocery bill has to also come down. Thank you for these videos. I'm not that far from retirement and have very little saved. Single mom in NYC...It's expensive, but I have to stop wasting money.

    • @AnnieMargaritaYang
      @AnnieMargaritaYang  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Your auto insurance is $350 per month? Maybe it is time to comparison shop and re-evaluate your coverage. As soon as you get that used car and stop leasing, maybe you can drop comprehensive.

Loved this video Annie!! I also love to travel, and have done the sandwiches in a baggie thing when we went to Switzerland, along with pasta in a Ziploc, ha! Funnily enough those are some of my fondest memories. I love trying out local food abroad, and creating a meal from local products at the grocery store rather than going to a restaurant can be just as satisfying and fun if not more "authentic". Breadsticks and genovese salami in italy, supermarket rotisserie chicken and 2 euro wines in France, for example! Can't wait for part 2!

I love this, you're so right. It's wild to hear from someone who's naturally interested in personal finance like I am. A lot of the other personal finance youtubers tend to have this end goal in mind and don't really appreciate the freedom aspect of it. Also your idealism is really what makes it for me. So many of my family and friends have such a negative outlook on money, it's disheartening when all you can think about is how awesome it is when you consider all your options and appreciate everything you have and they're not on the same page as you.

    • @AnnieMargaritaYang

I absolutely love your videos. Such wisdom.
My goal this year has been zero waste. My food budget is only 25$ a week. I don’t waste food, I will turn leftovers into something else. What I haven’t eaten, if anything, will go to my chickens or my compost pile. I eat well on 25$ a week.
My sister and I exchange clothes. She works in a second hand store. I can easily purchase 3 pairs of good jeans and 5 shirts for $25! The clothes are nice and in new shape.

Really great video and perspective. Especially loved what you said @7:25 - 8:50.
I like that your philosophy isn't necessarily save more & spend less, but more so being mindful and intentional about what we spend our money on and what will bring us true joy rather than temporary satisfaction.
I liked the first example you shared and enforcing the idea that we should be exploring what truly makes us happy and why. Which then of course allows us to be more intentional with how we spend.
All around great video. I love this way of looking at money and definitely altered my perspective positively. Looking forward to the next part. :)

How did you get a domain name for $100 a year???

    • @AnnieMargaritaYang

I used domain.com (approx $10/year) for the domain and BlueHost for the unlimited hosting before. Their customer service was bad so I switched.
I still use domain.com for the name, but InMotion Hosting for the hosting plan that includes 2 domains. I share that with my friend and my split is only $50 so I actually cut my costs down to $60.

The most important thing for me is my God and people around me. One reason why God is important for me is because He is my Creator. He said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Also, if you love people around you, this proves that God’s Spirit is in you. “By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.” Based on both of these Scriptures, I live a happy and satisfying lifestyle.
