Hi Nate, I drive a magical box.( : LOL I am a 74 year old widowed, female. The car I purchased a few years ago was 3 years old and I paid cash for it. Saved 2 ways there. When this car dies completely, I will not replace it. I have done the math and found that for me, it will be cheaper to just use Lift for the few places I need to go. I will have all my groceries delivered. I have already done this several times and saved money by not burning gas or wear and tear on my vehicle. Not owning a vehicle, I will not have to pay for insurance, gas, registration, tires, inspection, repairs or parking fees.

My electric bills are SO much cheaper now. This may be challenging when you're in a house. But at least do it when everyone is out of house all at once or on vacation. Yes! Walmart is one of the worst offenders on this. The price difference between the shelf price and yhe online pick up price can be quite dramatic. About half the items that I’ve ordered on online pick up app are about 50% more expensive than if I went and pulled them off the shelf. And online ordering with home delivery through the mail also has inflated prices.

For the styling without getting poor part, I would recommend to build a UNIVERSAL wardrobe.
The idea is to stick to something classic that will never be outdated and by buying it in colors that matches with most of you clothes.
This implies buying a lot of "neutral" color clothes.
Navy blue, black, gray, white, light brown
    Eg:
    Gray, white, blue,black, red Tshirt.
Dark blue denim jacket, red, black hoodies, dark blue bomber jacket.
You get the idea, nothing clashes with anything really and so all your clothes are useful and will match with the rest.
Just buy "FEW" clothes that have colors that pop like red, green, yellow so that you don't only have boring colors.(T shirts are great for that as they are cheap)
Surprisingly you want at least two or three pairs of shoes as they need to dry after use because your sweat actually make them damp.Don't use that as an excuse to overspend.
Voila! You will have a timeless classy wardobe that doesn't compel you to buy stuff that get put in a corner and never used

  • @joanwyatt9945

Just wanted to add something to your tip about hanging your clothes to dry. I use an outdoor retractable clothesline. I love the way the clothes smell. Another reason to hang them out is because they last much, much longer. All that lint in your dryer's lint trap is from your clothes wearing out after using the dryer.

    I'll add some more.
    13. Before you leave the apartment/house, turn off all lights, and bring down the thermostat to 80 in the summer).
    14. Use regular gasoline. Even in cars that "require" premium, experts/research show that octane has no bearing on engine life; only on performance. If anything, "treat" your car with premium once a year.
    15. Public transport (piggybacking off #1).
    16. If you have to buy a textbook, buy the international version. 98% of the time, the content is the exact same as the normal book. It's just black and white instead of color, and occasionally in books with practice questions, the order of questions/multiple choice options is different.
    17. Look for events on campus with free food. Going to a few of these per week will start to subtly add up.

Do not do #14 unless you KNOW your car(as he points out). Because if your car REQUIRES it, it requires it for a reason. It was designed to run off that octane. If you do not and cause pre-detenation to occur. You can blow holes in your pistons. Which is bad. If your car RECOMMENDS premium. Then yes you probably can use lower grades. But your performance can suffer, which can include your MPG. Which may or many not negate the few cents per gallon you may save.

    • @mcintosh.motors
      @mcintosh.motors 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

alan4657 Exactly. If your car recommends it, then it’s been engineered to perform and be most efficient at that octane. Sure the ECU can slightly adjust it but ffs don’t buy vehicles that recommend higher octane to just put lower octane in!! Don’t buy an expensive car and expect to pay low prices.
