The leaky tent can be easily fixed if you spray it with Scotts waterproofing spray...I have not gone backpacking in decades...but enjoyed watching your adventure.

I love grilled cheese with tomato soup. Its one of my comfort foods! Add some bacon between the cheese! And yes I dip each bite into the soup too! Its classic! You two are too cute and I love your dog, Denali! Sooooo very sweet that he leans in for lovins! My deaf Dalmatian, Ferrari puts her front paws on my legs and leans in for hugs! Dogs truly do add such a delightful element to life, so the extra work is negligible.
1. Yeah I'd never camp on that ledge.. Knowing me I'd wake up in the middle of the night having to go relieve myself and fall to my death. Also I think you hit the correct campsite looking in hindsight. I appreciate that you go through a spectrum of gear/ and types of backpacking. I also like that you aren't trying to "sell anything" yet still give a thought on how the gear performed without it being to overt. Thank you.
I stumbled across your channel watching primitive channels. I'm not sure how that worked but I'm glad it did. Seeing you two enjoying the beauty of nature in a way that the most high intended really makes me smile. I've been in a battle with cancer the last year and while they claim it is gone, it's left some lasting repercussions on me. I'm not able to get out and go right now because of the heat & humidity plus having to drag oxygen around. It really is great seeing y'all enjoying life
Hi Winford. I hope you you have total remission buddy. I don't have to drag an oxygen bottle everywhere I go, just my leg. So my days of trails and back-packing are only memories now, but the gentle terrain I can cover, and the camping, make it well worth the extra effort, and the extra time I'm forced to allocate to the simple tasks that go with, especially as my loyal companion, a 2 year old golden retriever is always at my side. Hang in there buddy, never give up, never give in, dress warm, and get out there as much as you can. Good luck and God bless you. A t b from UK.

Great video. I was excited to see a new Sintax77. The scenery was lovely, and you make want to fix myself a grilled cheese right now, I love seeing Nalli in his personal sleeping bag. Of course he wants to cuddle up to you and Sara. Glad you opted to leave the "secret site." That one looks as though it's best to keep is a secret; one could roll right off the rock. You two keep hiking and backpacking, and I'll keep enjoying your trips vicariously.
Thanks, Barbara! Yeah, I don't think Denali would have been quite as comfortable and relaxed hanging out on the rock ledge in the wind. The funny things is, I didn't even realize until later that the backpacker in that magazine photo had a dog in the tent with him as well, lol.
@@sintax77 I'm with you. That had to be some sort of fake article. No one in their right mind would pitch a tent on that boulder for themselves, and certainly not with a dog. They must have just quickly and carefully posed for the magazine and then left!

Ramen Rescue is the Shiz!! Whether you buy it prepackaged from PackitGourmet or make your own variation, it's like the perfect thing for evenings like yours in the video. Better yet is chicken and dumplings or their shepherd's cottage pie. And at least I'm not the only one that's guilty of toting in a can of tomato soup and grilled cheese fixings 😂
Instead of pre coating the bread with butter try bringing small mayonnaise packets next time and coat the outside with that. Way better that way and easier. Love the videos.
This was a real surprise trip. At least you all had a nice trip overall. Grilled cheese and soup never sounded so good or tasted, as you both stated. Even the rain wasn’t so bad. Except for all the pack weight you had to take. I laughed throughout the entire video. Sarah, Shawn and Denali thanks for sharing it with us. @@sintax77 Seneca Creek about 4 years ago. We did the craziest trip ever about a month ago to the Smokies for an overnight about maybe 6 total miles hiked. Lol We needed to get out of our area after a long winter with only 3 days to make something happen.
After years of hiking and camping with a dog i have found that the best pot washer is t he dog! After the pot is cool let him lick it then briefly boil water in it to sterilize and it's clean.
Shenandoah national park is beautiful. I just did the skyline drive with the full blue ridge parkway on a motorcycle trip last year. We were chasing waterfalls along the way. There were so many great hiking trails 2 weeks was nowhere near long enough to even scratch the surface. I heard you say you're from the Philly area so odds are we're pretty close to each other. I'm about 30 min south of philly if you shoot down 95. Anyways I just came across the channel yesterday and I'm digging it. I spend most of my vacations on the motorcycle or in the woods.
Awesome adventure, guys! Denali is such a beautiful dog with great coloration. You've done a super job getting him trail trained. Backpacker magazine should send you their apologies for that "secret campsite" that would not have been safe for you guys to camp on.

Yea, I have Ozark trail tents. They do work ok but are prone to leaking is why I'll always throw a cheap blue tarp over it. Thanks for posting brother and stay cool
When you're back in the comfort of your kitchen, try this: One 12 oz. jar of roasted red peppers, in oil One 28 oz can of fire-roasted tomatoes One clove of garlic 5 or 6 large basil leaves .5 tsp oregano Put all in a blender and blend until smooth. Transfer to a pan and heat gently. Adjust seasoning and salt and pepper to taste. Meanwhile, make two grilled cheese sandwiches. I use a good hearty whole-grain bread and two or more cheeses...cheddar, gouda, mozzarella work well. When the sandwiches are done, cut them into half-inch cubes and use them as croutons in the soup. Yum! Hope you enjoy!
Hey Sintax77, you can still pre-butter the sandwiches. Just turn the buttered sides inwards towards the cheese while stored in the container and then flip bread slices buttered side out before cooking. 👍🏼
You can also substitute margarine for butter. Less likely to "weld itself together", less cholesterol and saturated fats(heart health) but the same total overall amount of calories and good fats as butter.
@@abyssiniahenry128 Butter can still work if you put a layer of waxed paper between the buttered sides - it will peel off without taking the butter with it.

One of my favorite memories was tent camping in the pouring rain with my boyfriend and my three dogs. We had one tent for our gear and another tent for us and my dogs. We stayed for a week and it was amazing! Thanks for your videos! It’s nice escape from the reality were living in these days. P.S. A decent hole less tarp does just fine even in a storm, sometimes better because as long as you secure it we'll the Xtra area coverage makes for larger dryer living space that you can adjust the venting/airflow depending on wind direction, Ayuh

Is it actually save to heat a meal in the original soup cannister? I saw it states BPAA free lining, but that doesn't mean you it is save to heat the cannister, melting possible 'plastics' on the inside... Never dared to try it myself

Use a tiny square of waxed baking parchment on the bottom to prevent it from sticking.

A mou tianbike ride and I swore I herd a growl that freaked my out but I was on pavement so I just kept on going to the next road witch wasn't far away to traffic and peddled my way home yeah that was freaky to here a growl. A decent hole less tarp does just fine even in a storm, sometimes better because as long as you secure it we'll the Xtra area coverage makes for larger dryer living space that you can adjust the venting/airflow depending on wind direction, Ayuh

Is it actually save to heat a meal in the original soup cannister? I saw it states BPAA free lining, but that doesn't mean you it is save to heat the cannister, melting possible 'plastics' on the inside... Never dared to try it myself
