interesting concept! I like the drill and the idea! I also like the way the channel is handling criticism! I would only add that any martial art training drill has visible advantages and disadvantages, - visible because it is a drill. It is impossible to attack without opening up somewhere in any form of close combat. I could see it working against a boxer if done with good timing as boxers are not trained to deal with/expect elbow strikes (and, as you said, not everyone is Floyd)
I am not a ninjutsu practitioner. I train in capoeira for a couple of decades and boxing for the last few years.
Thank you for the beautiful and enriching videos. I really appreciate your work and dedication. Please keep them coming!

I can s e this working against someone if you catch them off guard, but anyone with half an hour of training knows how to maintain distance, and back up when someone trys this. Very cool concept! I just question it's practicality when compared to a punch, or a conventional takedown

With a decent understanding of footwork it's not difficult to avoid this attack. And there are several styles in which that elbow isn't a surprise at all. Only a quite inexperienced fighter would remain static in this situation the way the coperating opponent does here.

Committing with an elbow strike from range? Literally even untrained people would probably take a step back, at which point you're in range with your arms crossed. You're also not as protected as you'd like to believe, just your hand won't stop a tight lead hook. I'm guessing you also know how open it is to knees? I mean i'm assuming the Thai flag on the wall says there's some muay thai experience in there?

    • @AkbanOrg

It’s a technique from Muai Buran.

@@AkbanOrg Really? Do you have the source? I've never seen that strange guard from any nak muay, I feel like it obstructs your vision quite a bit

Well that is silly, the only way to do this properly is to invite a good amateur boxer into your dojo, and say let’s spar, then you will see if you can pull this off.

This is a "closing in" Technique, specific; What's not being demonstrated here is the application of Kosei against Boxing attacks.
Kosei No Kamae is very effective against a skilled Boxer. I have real world experience with this: I Cross Train and spar with other Arts, including Golden Glove Boxers. It works. But you can think as you like. 🤗

Now put on a head protector and do that while your "uke" can bounce and freely jab at your nose at 60% speed.
Instead of having him stand there like a wing chun wooden dummy.
I mean you did the explanation part fair enough, now do the demonstration part ...
