this board is awesome. Really don't understand why it wasn't more popular? Bad marketing? Perfect for home project studios and wayyy cheap by todays standards. I've seen the dm 4800 go for $2000. That's giving it away. Built in fx, eq, dynamics, motorized faders, aduio interface, mic pres, and can control your DAW! This thing is awesome!!
I love this console. I the first I ever learned on and was easy to pickup. Tascam simplified everything. ProTools and Nuendo easy to assignable control surface and applicable even today. If I had the room I would purchase one. I do use a DP2488 for recording and Mastering.
Battery Replacement? I know this is an old thread but because it can be easily found via google I'll put this here: Battery for the DM-3200 is regular CR2032 3v. There should be a clip for the battery in the right hand upper corner of the motherboard. Easy to replace, no soldering needed. Opening the mixer: - Unscrew the "wood" sides (8 screws in total, 4 per side) - remove the upper grille strip, it should come off easily, it is held in place by its own tension. - remove the metal strip above faders, this one should come off easily too, no screws here either. - remove 4 screws from upper part of the main panel (where grille used to be) - remove 4 screws from lower part (where the metal strip used to be) - the main panel should now be free and it can opened. The panel is hinged from the lower side, it should open up simply by pulling from the upper edge. All the cables should have enough slack so that the panel can sit upright. The battery clip is located in a bit tricky place, look under mic pre section, to the back right corner and you should see it there. If you want you can also remove the mic pre section but that a bit more work. At least I was able to change the battery without removing the mic pre section. assemble in reverse order, have fun -Tomi

Hi there, nice one…I've been using a Roland 2480 for over 10 years now and feel I need to upgrade to this Tascam DM3200 very soon! Can it be used as a stand alone workstation without using a computer? Does it come with an internal hard drive? Thanks for the video! :)
Thanks for your reply! So the DM3200 comes with its own operating system/software? I assume you can then connect a USB external hard drive and start recording projects…? Thanks again, happy recording! :)
I'm having the worst trouble using my tascam dm 3200... I am trying to use it as a interface to control my logic pro X. For some reason my controls are all mixed around. my start, record, play buttons are used as controllers to play notes. for example: I hit the play button and my snare drum played... can anyone help me.
Hi Antoinne. Did you ever figure this out? I know there is a learn function in Logic X, but I have yet to even get my computer to see my DM 3200 usb. I have the audio side of it working (sees and records/ plays back audio via firewire cable) but not the control side of it.

Hi Leon, best place to start - if you haven't already - is with the supplemental control manual which tyou can find here tascam.com/content/downloads/products/34/dm3200_steinberg_v110.pdf You will need to configure the Tascam to operate as a Steinberg Controller in its Remote Setup page, and then configure Nuendo so that it thinks it has 2 Mackie Controls attached. The manual has all the details on how to do this. Note: It is very specific about which MIDI ports must be used. Good luck!

Yes it really is! I have a 3200 and its great.
Yes, you can record with it. It's great for recording and mixing, and for the price it offers some attractive features.

Dear Sir,
I'm setting up Tascam MD-4800. I can see a signal for input but I cannot get an output. Please help urgently.
Thanks!
Good news, until I find a way to connect the Tascam 3200 or 4800 easily with the mac OS Catalina Sitema
there is the link for you to look at it @
I am looking for mixer that would be good for Mastering tracks. Would this be a good product for that?

Wrong information given below!!! This does not have an internal hard disk. It's not a big portastudio. Do your research!
