I've recently started switching over my AB style bridges to Wilkinson roller bridges and I think they are great. Pretty reasonably priced too, $15 or so. I may have to check these out too
Tested on one of my Les Paul's and definitely improved the tuning issues. Ordered two more for my other problematic LP's. Interestingly I have a mid-70's Les Paul that's never had an issue, but my three Gibson's from 2014 to current have issues.
glad to see some reviews showing up on these. I was contemplating getting one for an SG copy that I had. Guitar wasn't worth enough to start fixing everything that was broken so I no longer suffer from that issue. but if I ever pickup another gibson problem child at least I know this will help solve at least one of the problems. the likelihood of getting another gibson is low. I got a schecter about a year ago and I love it. It's only an Omen-6 (got it used for $120) but that guitar punches well above it's price point.
Does the String butler actually touch the finish on the guitar headstock. I’d like to try it but worry that it might damage the finish on my headstock.
I decide this weekend to order one for my Schecter Solo 6. Like the CMG, the Solo 6 plays pretty well in tune, but after a while need to re-tune depending on how much bending you were doing. I see it like a little bit of an insurance policy, just something there to help! Between the String Butler and locking tuners, I'm expecting good results. In some reviews, comments always come back to, well get a new nut or get someone to properly file one. But many may not have access to good guitar luthiers, so this is a really good option. Then others complain about the looks, but hey you want to complain or get rid of an issue! : )
True, there's always various opinions out there if all kinds! I think it's an interesting product. There are severa components in tuning stability, I have guitars with a strait string through but design and they still go out of tune sometimes
Sorry I was late for this but you could have used a fender string tree on the truss rod cover and it would have done the same for 4 bucks and all looks of the guitar would be saved.
Would you still have to completely intonate the guitar since the distance between the saddles on the String butler is now making the string longer with more distance between how it originally was when it was binding on the nut from the bridge?
I had a beautiful Les Paul I didn't even want to play due to G string tuning issues. Had a bone nut cut by a luthier and added this bitch on top of it, and it's as good if not better than my other guitars. Hooray
Good vid, I wonder how it will be with a locking tuner system in place before installation. Will it impact the stability of that existing locking tuner set up.
that is one really stupid thought/question, if you've already locked the strings in position. then you wont need the stupid arse butler. Fuckin hell ! lad. are you really awake. and if you don't have a locking system. don't worry just put some pencil lead in the nut grooves will stop any string sticking. and so... no need for a string butler. (which is just a bit of shiny shiny bling when you honestly think about it.) saving you some money for a rainy day.
Jerry W hmmm that's interesting, I'm not sure, maybe reach out to string butler and see what they say, I haven't seen many guitars lately that didn't have a nut on the string peg.
When you said Germany, I thought you got a new Floyd Rose locking nut or something. Also, I've been getting fret buzz lately on my Eclipse. Might need to adjust the truss rod or get one of these butlers...
Mat Demaz That'll be more than likely the truss rod. If you go to ESP's website, under the support section you can download a user manual that will tell you how to check and adjust it if you're not sure.
Hey man, thanks for that. I just made the repairs now,. Problem is gone. Turns out over time, the neck bent slightly (I've had this EC-256 for like 4 years, lmao), and the strings were buzzing against the nut. I thought I strung the guitar wrong, but I didn't. Also raised the action slightly.
Martin, Taylor, Gibson, all have the \/ headstock, Breedlove, Fender, Ibanez, Musicman, PRS etc.... all use the straight pull..... Which reminds me RIP Vinnie “Get your Pull”
I'm not sure, you might want to check the instructions again but I think its supposed to install between the nut and washer to prevent it from touching the finish. I could be wrong.😉
It comes with plastic washers that are optional if you want to put them under the string butler if you want, but it isn't necessary, they do say to make sure the area under the butler is clean and free from debris. I probably won't leave this one on this guitar as I'd prefer a chrome one for it.
Nice. Can you do some type of vid on those roller bridges? Was thinking of modding my ltd viper 400. With all the specs for different guitars? Thanks Man..
Tuning instability can be caused by several things. The bridge saddles binding due to having burs. It can also cause strings to break. The nut being improperly cut and binding. I can cause strings to break too. The tuning machines could be slipping or the way you are winding the strings on the tuning posts can cause the strings to slip.
finally bought one and absolutely heartbroken :(, ... on my 81 custom les paul ive spent nearly €400 , neck adjustment frets dressed, modified ivory nut, hipshot locking machine heads etc, now the string butler, still going out of tune worse than ever to the point i have to retune after every song, cant do any bends, its my only electric since i sold my riviera to fund the restoration of it and am heartbroken that i still cant rely on it to do one song let alone one gig, can anyone help?
beats boulevard I’m in the same boat. Les Paul Classic heritage cherry. My ultimate dream guitar, I’ve done everything I can think of and it refuses to stay in tune. My string butler is in the mail, my last hope. If not the guitar I wanted all my life and finally got will be out of my life. Maybe get an HSS Strat? 😢
it's ugly and not a great design .. they need to make them in clear plastic so your eyes don't go wtf is that? I see a few things that could effect that test and the first is to have a correctly slotted nut! ya think billy gibbons, slash, les paul etc. etc. ever complain about their guitars going out of tune after one bend? exactly .. file your nuts right, stretch the crap outta the strings and don't put a bunch of winds on the tuners. simple ... lube if necessary lol. are the CMG nuts bone or other material?
Try playing through an entire solo with multiple bends😂. You played one or two bends and it was a “smidgen” flat😅. After a 1 minute solo you wouldn’t be able to play the rest of the song
I’ll revisit that some time, with a full song play through would be interesting. But I guess it would be even worse without the string butler….. A Properly files and lubricated nit goes a long way though for tuning stability. Thats probably most people’s tuning issues.
See on this page which STRING BUTLER fits on your guitar with 3R / 3L tuners:

Thanks for commenting! I'm sure you can answer some of the questions better than I.
With this one you can say, the Butler did it and you'd be right. It seems to work. Cheers.

Thanks for watching man!
Every one that comes out since I found ya'll lol. It seems that ya'll have a talent to make everybody watching feel like family

I cancelled Netflix, because I can watch Guitar Guys All Day Long on TH-cam
I have both. 🙂
You need RNA shirts that say SO EXCITED!
Does the String butler actually touch the finish on the guitar headstock. I’d like to try it but worry that it might damage the finish on my headstock.
It comes with plastic washers you can put under it if you don't want it to.
locking tuners+ string butler + graph tech nut = no tuning issues
They do make clear acrylic ones if you have beautiful matching headstock you want to see.
RNA MUSIC yes they do, as well as other colours.

I want to put these on all mine! thanks for the vid

Guitarguts63 - We only care about the moving part of the string right? which is from the nut to the bridge saddle.
I had a beautiful Les Paul I didn't even want to play due to G string tuning issues. Had a bone nut cut by a luthier and added this bitch on top of it, and it's as good if not better than my other guitars. Hooray
How much stress are these stings under? How is it possible the strings get caught in the nut!!
Good vid, I wonder how it will be with a locking tuner system in place before installation. Will it impact the stability of that existing locking tuner set up.
that is one really stupid thought/question,

Fender has got you covered for tuning issues. Haha!
Lol if only!
Ryan I bought one of these for my Epiphone and I noticed my guitar has no nuts to remove to fit the Butler under. I don't know what to do.
Jerry W hmmm that's interesting, I'm not sure, maybe reach out to string butler and see what they say, I haven't seen many guitars lately that didn't have a nut on the string peg.
I love that Strap.
The word Allemangne is Germany in French. I know this is an old video but I figured this may benefit some that view this for the first time.
If you keep going flat after a bend and have to keep winding up the tuner, then maybe the tuner is at fault?
Hi, do you know if these will work with grover rotogrip locking machine heads?
I do not know, shoot them an email and I’m sure they will answer. I’m not sure why they wouldn’t work.
@@RNAMusic okay thanks for the reply

Mat Demaz Good to hear you got it fixed. I've used that owners manual a few times, especially as I've got a Floyd ha ha.
Sometimes the slot on the nut gets worn down too low and causes a buzz
Martin, Taylor, Gibson, all have the \/ headstock, Breedlove, Fender, Ibanez, Musicman, PRS etc.... all use the straight pull.....

I agree the chrome would look nice!
Are you going to put locking tuners on your CMG? 60 F here in AK lol.
Metal Head Hippie I've actually thought about getting some locking Grovers for it.

Fuzznut My string butler has made it INFINITELY better. But yeah, I have a tusq nut for my tele, it’s definitely awesome
Fuzznut Well, yours is different. All I know is I popped that string butler on and there was marked improvement.
Can’t help wondering ,,if double sided sticky tape could work in lue
Of drilling holes in your peg head to mount the screws! Just saying!
You don’t have to drill any holes to use the butler.
Yes, it works.
Thanks for the comment! Have you been using one as well?
I could use that on my gibson e35 it gets out of tune very easy. I dont play it much for that reason alone.
See Brah, that's why I play Ibanez Prestige, I re-tune rarely. Give em a try.
Got an epi g400 with a bigsby. Roller bridge , bone nut. This thing may be ugly but if it works , who gives a hoot. Got one ordered
Allemagne is the French word for Germany.
the guitar is buzzing, I guess you need to put some relief on the neck or something's hitting that g string from the bridge
Or raise the action....
Did you move from somewhere else to Texas? You don't have much of an accent.
They are to exspensive. Should be alot cheaper. .
+jeffrey price thanks for the feedback
+jeffrey price I’m sure they appreciate the feedback
This would have been more helpful if you had played some chords so we could hear it.
I get the idea but just find them an eyesore...and the clear ones would still be visible and not improve the looks.

Blaine Ludeman they do make clear acrylic ones actually.

I will put up with tuning issues I have before I put that ugly pos on any of my guitars.
The butler helps, but your bridge and nut are the bigger problems on a Gibson. Use a roller bridge or buy a prs and save yourself the headaches
For the price of this gimmick, you could get the nut fixed properly
Just 4 more places the strings to bind up on. Plus its ugly. Long story short....its a gimmick
Doesnt bind, its rollers that move with it. Learn about it before making moronic comments.
