It would also overcome the first truck crossing, becoming stuck, which would require a similar sized vehicle and/or a front end loader coming to pull it out, thus blocking the second from a crossing (if the the local village is a distance away could take time) - if you look at the bush either side of the crossing point (from which they started), would negate the action of trying to go around the stuck truck. Just as well it was not "the wet season".

I think it's because of the bridge weight limits on the interstate highways. Certainly not like that in Alberta Canada. The US guys are weighing in at 80 thousand pounds, I pull just under 140 every day unless I'm on an oilfield road then anything goes!

I noticed some of the loads with "Deltareef" markings - that's a prefab construction and civil engineering company in North East Arnhem Land. That could be close to to 250 tonnes there.

The water is not that deep indeed - but a) the creek bed can be soft: don't need to tell you what happens to a loaded truck going through half a meter deep soft mud. That's why they use tractors. However, here it's a different problem (we know the creek bed is hard enough). The exit on the other side (not in the video) is VERY steep and trucks lose traction.

I took that video myself, there's no interruption :-) The trains themselves are not that long: they are connected by a rigid bar for the crossing only, to make it up the slope
