Evalia is so beautiful.
The lore I can understand from the MV is, she's like a deity who's tasked with the duty to clean the souls of peoples who has passed away, doing her duty for so long, long enough to make her succumbed to her loneliness and commit felony of trapping souls of people to stay with her.
Learned of her wrong doings, the god passed down the divine punishment and banished her to underwater abyss for eternity with their curse.
Now, she who seems to calmed down after the punishment is only singing in hope for someday, someone will come and release her from this curse.
That's it so sad!...But what she did was unforgivable...I think she received her punishment and should have set her free.
At least Loy Kratong keeps her company yearly.

Funfact
The chanting part is the hymn for protection against the threat from water, air, fire and land. Which means those men who dancing with her were chanting this hymn for protection against her charm but it proof no use.

I'm Thai, you got the main point of the song. I'll tell what's going on in details. It'll be quite long, so brace yourself:
Evalia is the goddess of the Ganges River. Her duty is to cleanse the souls of their memory and send them into reincarnation system, where they will be reborn and pay for their good and bad deeds with their respective victims (karma). However, having sent countless souls has caused loneliness to grow inside her heart, so, she decided to keep some of the souls, from multiple time periods(notice the clothes of the men came from different era in Thailand).
THIS, however, destroy the 3 world(heaven, human world, hell) ecosystem. Good deeds aren't being rewarded and heinous acts goes unpunished. Why? Well let's say A robbed B, A will be robbed or punished in one way or another by B or someone else. Another case, C saves D life, in the future he will helped when he is in trouble. If Evalia keeps their souls, A will go unpunished(he won't go to hell) and C will be unrewarded(he won't go to hell). Everyone is linked through the karmic cycles, thus damaging catasthrophic damage.
Eventually her actions caused chaos in all three realm and Vaiśravaṇa(ท้าวเวสุวรรณ) the thai giant god who protected the human race, has to come down and confisicated her of powers. The scene you see a bunch of debris in the water is her destroyed abode(Most deity have their respective abodes) representing her stripped title. At the end you could even see a ruined old thai wooden house next to her. He cursed her so she will stayed down at the bottom of the Ganges river forever. The hands that were pulling her down are one of the souls she imprisoned, their hand shrivelled and rotten under the water. Also, the men who she imprisoned came from different thai folklore e.g. Chalawan.
The reason she was punished was because she had abused her power. You can notice this from the puppet scene that she lured people soul with the power that heaven give her to finish her duty, she violate the taboo, so that why she got the punishment. Anyway, in the ending scene, you could see that she frees the little fire ball(I believed that could be the soul of the man that she collected before), It's possible that she can let go now. I hope she will be free from the curse soon.
The lore behine this is She is the goddess who have resposibilty to cleanse the soul and send them back to reincarnation cycle (Buddhist belief), but after doing this for so long, she got bored and lonely so she start collection souls to be her partner. The number of souls in cycle keep decreasing as she keep taking more and more souls (according to the hands in the video), and make deity above acknowledge this problem. This leads to her punishment to be banished into water abyss forever. Her dream is to have someone to love and be loved, but now she will be there alone.
As a Thai person who never heard of Evalia before, I judge from my own traditional and cultural knowledges as her being a "nymph" that helps the souls traveling to the underworld, like some sort of grim reaper in western culture. Since in Thai culture (mix with Buddhism) we believe that all souls are to go there first to get judged fairly and serve their times in both heaven and hell according to their good and bad karmas. After they spent all the designated time in the afterlife, they are to be reborn only to die again and repeat this endless 'cycle of reincarnation'.
In buddhism we consider this cycle as sufferings, thus the religion's ultimate goal is to achieve the enlightenment whilst you're alive, so that after death you'll be able to reach the nirvana and to truly disappear, in other words you are free from this cycle.
Yearning for love and affection, Evalia violates the cycle by cleansing the karmas of the souls she lusts for and trapping them in her realm, not allowing them to go to the afterlife. But that doesn't satisfy her enough, she proceeds to wreak havoc a whole village with her power aiming to find more souls to keep by her side, disrupting another equilibrium of 'lifetime' in Thai belief.
The big guy who's scolding and judging her is Lord Wetsuman, he is the heavenly giant lord of all beasts and demons whose job is to ward off and control the evilness, needless to say he is very respected and feared by! To make her atone for her sins of equilibrium disruption, he forever banishes her to the deep underwater realm.
(Fun fact : he is a Buddhism figure that appears in many cultures, you might have heard the name Bishamonten or Píshāméntiān, that's his alternative interpretations in Asian culture ^^)
The chanting you hear is real chanting used to pray for the gods and goddesses of four elements (fire, water, earth and wind). I see it as a chant of the people that pray to these powerful deities to help protect them from this very nymph on the loose that's abusing her power. Which is why you can hear it in the dancing scene and the scene where she's being dragged by the hands, that to me feel like the hands of divine punishment people are praying for.
Some people interprete Evalia herself as Kongka/Gańgā, the goddess of river but I'm not sure. I mean in that case you can also see it as people praying for her after being caught after her spell, but I think it makes less sense!

*Short summary* -
The song story is about a *Water/River Goddess or Spirit* that has a duty to cleanse the souls in the cycle of reincarnation. But because of loneliness she abused her powers for her sensual desires, trapping five men souls with her (it caused the imbalance in the world, *"Three Worlds"* i.e. *Human World, Heaven* and *Hell,* and caused the *Great Flood* shown in the video).
Therefore she was punished by *"Vaisravana"* or *"Vessavana"* (in Thai, *"ท้าวเวสสุวรรณ Thao Wetsuwan"),* the *"Yaksha" (Giant or Ogre and Demon) God,* the *Guardian God of the North* and *Ruler of all the Yaksha including all kinds of spirits plus supernatural beings,* one of the *"Four Heavenly Kings" ("จาตุมหาราชา Chatumaharacha", "จตุโลกบาล Chatulokkaban" Four Protectors of the World and Fighters of Evil)* and the *chief* of them, to be under the deep river or underground forever.

The chant scene was actually a praying line. To cherish Kongka the goddess of water.
The hands seen in the MV probably mean magic that returns. Because in Thai culture regarding the belief in magic and spells, there is a story about its rules that If the caster makes a mistake during the ritual, all spells and curses that the caster has cast will revert back to the caster. From the MV we know that she stole the young man's soul and locked it away with magic. Therefore, when she was punished by heaven, those spells turned against the caster and dragged her to be locked underwater forever.
Fun Fact... Puppet that was use at 5:33 and 5:40 is the same puppet...
And you may guess... That puppet can't change face expression... And seem like art-team doesn't do anything about that either...

It's called "Nung Taloong" or "หนังตะลุง" a shadow play from southern part of Thailand. They can't change expression because they only made the mouth part to move when dubbing to look like they are speaking. Imagine it's like big piece of art then they use stick to move arms and mouth, they can't change the face so they expressed it from the dubbing sounds to show emotion.

Fun nuggets of cultural/historical speculation, take it with a grain of salt.
Before inland Southeast Asia became Buddhist majority, The local beliefs are pagan/shamanic or polytheistic beliefs. After Buddhism arrived there, to weaken the local beliefs, they told many tales about goddess gone bad, or some woman spirits who seduced men who wanted to become Buddhist monks. Guess this was inspired by one of those tales.
The lyrics are haunting and sad. The music and visuals are just right for this kind of story.
I know that she is a goddess of water but i don't really know what actually her duty for dead realm. From this story she doing her job for long long time that she feel lonely and desire love, i guess. I don't know that can she have a lover or not but she decided to keep some soul for herself (5 guys that dance with her) that why she been punishment.
I believe if I remember correctly. Her duty as a goddess of water is to purify the soul of the people so that when they die they get send to the afterlife and are not bind to the cycle of reincarnation (karma). Don’t believe me too much, I haven’t learn about her for awhile now.
Actually she keep souls more than 5 (all of hands that pull her into darkness is the souls that she breaking the rules of death realm to keep.)
Interpret the meaning of the song
Ganga is a beautiful goddess. She has many powers. Maybe with loneliness Or there's too much sensual fire inside. When she is in love, she will find love. Then she caught the eye of a human being who would follow the precepts and abandon the path of greed (a monk). She used both her power and her beautiful appearance to seduce her, hoping to gain their love. And she really did. But she knew that the love she had gained from the human heart she loved did not belong to her, so she did what she thought would be able to stay with her lover forever, that is, she killed her lover in hopes of holding onto his soul. which is considered a grave wrongdoing Thao Vesuwan (the giant god who rules the spirit world) therefore cursed Ganga for eternity.

Yesterday is Loy Krathong Day in Thailand, it
is the day that Thai people floating krathong
into the river to worship for Ganga, the
goddess of river. In this song, Evalia is kind of
goddess who in charge of clearn off good or
evil in people soul with water before they go
to their afterlife realm. However, she struck
with this job for an eternity, so she feel so
lonely and that make her start to collect a
man soul with some spell. Then she got her
punishment because she abuse of power.
She now have to live deep in the bottom of

She isn't goddess but a ghost who pray for goddess of water(the goddess of the Ganges) and help all souls to reincarnation as her duty. ALWAYS but she felt lonely and seeking for love by using black magic to get male souls and then heaven knows about it because something bad happen to 3 world(Heaven, Earth and Hell) and the reason is she kept all the males souls for fulfill her desire. after heaven knew and order to punish her to trap under the river for eternity with the souls that she used balck magic too and get punish by all of them too. finally she need someone to help her of this situation by hope someone hear her voice because she will alway sing under the river and hope someone hear her voice and seek for her to help her.
