I really liked it. I think part of what worked really well for this vid was how the puzzle was set up. There were a couple smaller bites at the start and then a big chunk in the middle and then some smaller chunks, that were also kind of payoffs for learning the puzzle and getting to the spoilers at the end. I also really liked the explanation of the puzzle. I don't know how that would translate to other kinds of content/stream supercuts. But the small bites of the earlier puzzles and then the big puzzle to get more invested in (from a meta content/entertainment perspective) worked really well. Having some end time to fade out and space for other video cards would be nice. Especially the times where there might be something they'd be blocking on screen at the end of a vid. This was great. Fun to watch you think and test for sure. Many great clip choices showing both progress, despair, and funny moments. The 30:41-30:46 clip was incredible, exactly matching how I felt trying to solve it myself. Totally happy if this is the direction you take your YT channel.
Glad Datto went and charted it himself, the chart he was linked initially was just wrong, and I made the mistake of checking my own charting work with it, which ended up messing everything up making me have to go back and rechart every floor to be safe.
Glad that tiny ween guy got his time to shine. And the symbol too. My first time watching your stream live and it was this whole ride. Great stuff trying to work it out. Destiny community at its best
a friend of mine really wanted to figure this out on her own while i was there to give hints if needed, after about an hour she only just realized there were symbols on other floors, she found the one and cried, she never realized there were two other floors to look at after she asked for the answer, sadge
i solved the last puzzle for 4 totems in like 15 minutes but then i looked it up after trying what should have been the solution and learned there were 12 more totems i had to do i aint goin to each floor and doin allat
The photoshop edit collage was freaking hilarious. I need to go back to do this puzzle legit after using a guide cause I wanted cutscene and I’ve been busy with school and work. Loved this video and editing style Datto
You know, watching you struggle through this is very cathartic - in a good sense. When I found out there was new content unlocked with this weeks reset - and not just that but an important cutscene after a puzzle! - it was already close to midnight for me. As trigger happy as this community is with spoilers I decided unspoiled story/cutscene > the enjoyment of solving a puzzle myself. I'm happy I made that decision but as a puzzle enthusiast I feel little bit robbed of half of the fun. Also glad we agree that this particular symbol is "tiny ween guy".
This is perfect, exactly what I’ve been looking for. I enjoy watching people’s thought process when solving puzzles or raid mechanics. I hate looking up solution help online only to find the answer and not the process behind it
Seeing the puzzle being worked through was so interesting! I was able to keep up for a while and then i got so lost. And then seeing the way you wrote it out at the end really cleared it up! This is so great!
This was fricking awesome! Seeing not only your end result but the steps you took to get there was so cool to see, thanks for pushing yourself, not only by doing this (somewhat blind) but also cracking on to get the video edited and published, good on you! Keep up the great videos!!
I enjoyed this video a lot, especially your breakdown at the end of how you solved puzzle #4, since I was lost tbh. I also enjoyed that moment in #3 with your reaction when you jumped forward and saw the hidden void rune, and all the !!!!! with the solar runes. I'm not much of a big brain with puzzles like this so usually watch video guides. Seeing this "behind the scenes" of working through it gave me a deeper appreciation for advanced puzzle solving skills. Great job!
Thank you for breaking this down into an edited video. I started the stream playback and it went over my head. Can not imagine spending 4+ hours on this. ALL HAIL SMALL WEEN GUY!!
This is fascinating. I've always wondered how you Destiny Puzzle masters figure these things out. Amazing - Max Respect! Just realising I would be nowhere in this game if I had to figure all these puzzles out myself without internet telling me the answer. Thank you and your people.
From someone who just uses a guide to bypass these puzzles, I loved watching you figure it out because it did slightly annoy me that I didnt know why it was the correct combination 😂
I used a guide to the last puzzle since otherwise I'd be there for days trying to figure it out. Watching Datto figure out what my miniscule brain would've immediately died upon trying to figure out helps to actually understand the puzzle and how to actually solve it. Thanks, Datto.
Was watching the VOD in bits before bed, really glad you uploaded this. The editing is really nice and the little jokes are uninstructive enough to where they add enough to be funny but not annoying. The hour timeskips could be expanded upon a little more to flow better rather than just a quick cut and "hour x" in small lettering in the middle of the screen. The editing of the first three puzzles made it seem like 2 and 3 took longer for you to figure out, even though the "Total Time" text showed them all taking around 10 minutes. But as always I enjoyed this, and your minimalist editing style compared to other YT videos. You always do good work, Datto.
Thank you for actually explaining the solution all the other channels just skip that part and sure it’s a bit complex and hard to follow but I still wanted to know the idea at least so thanks for that
I know you were a bit disappointed but huge props for figuring out as much as you did, I looked up the method before transcribing and "solving" the puzzle myself and even _that_ gave me some trouble lol... love this style of video btw, it hits a nice sweet spot between full unedited vod and the extremely short highlights, I know this was kind of a rare opportunity but it was nice to see someone work through the puzzle instead of just "here's the symbols you need to activate"
I heard you spent 5 hours on the latest puzzle and decided to hop back into destiny to try it myself, speedran the seasonal story and got the cards, did the three puzzles(which were fun little puzzles, despite room 2 seeming random with how you switch to "every other".), and then the last room. That last puzzle took me a while, me and a friend on stream drew down pages of symbols between the 16 statues. Took me forever to try backtracking. Loved the puzzle.
@@filipmajetic1174If that was the case, maybe, but the puzzle doesn't help in that I think every single enemy after you enter the room is a thrall, so it feels less like a rule and more like a random switch.

@@skibbydibs Yeah, that's logical. The issue for me is that the first couple you kill every mob in the chain, then after you cross into the room it's every other mob. @@sauceinmyface9302 i agree they should’ve switched back but it was based on the sword logic perk since it was the war room. Red bar knight = sword logic x1 so move forward 1 space. Yellow bar cursed thrall = sword logic x2 so move forward two spaces

i really enjoyed the video. i didn't get to catch this on the stream so it was great seeing the solving and brainstorming of the puzzle. i would suggest background music just for ambiance especially since this is a longer video format. it personally helps me to stay engaged. keep the gameplay content coming!
hey man! editing was great, i felt engaged the whole time! i’ve tried to formulate a critique for the sake of helping you, but genuinely couldn’t think of one. great video!
I enjoyed the Imbaru engine a lot when it came out. Especially the final puzzle. The amount of layers it had. Spent a few hours on it till I threw in the towel. I was then told I had to leave the room and see the other 3 levels so while I had worked out the theory mostly, I was missing like 3/4 of the raw data. But it was nice to actually get the brain gears turning. I don’t think the community has had puzzles like this since finding wishes and solving the LW vault.
Hopefully you see this datto. There is 1 symbol that only ever appears once, you can do the same thing that you did with the pizza slice symbol/vex head but on that piece as it only ever appears once, and then do the same process as you explained.
I'll admit, I gave the Truth & Lies puzzle like 10mins before I looked up a guide that had a section where it *only tells you the ruleset you should work with,* IE that Circles are Truths, Triangles are Lies, but each statue tells two lies and one truth about the symbols it points to; it also said that you want to identify what symbols are actually Lies. I had a lot of fun solving it from there, honestly.
Of all the things D2 got right or has done best, is story progression with these puzzles. And just the story in general has some really neat elements. It's just funny in a weird way that in a game where damn near everything is solved, activated or otherwise interracted with by bullets, they put in these environmental puzzles. While completely different, it kind of reminds me of the command query thing in terminals you need to do in GTFO to find some things. Just having you stop completely and pivot your mentallity.
This is kind of hilarious. I had to guess my way through most of puzzle 1 and all of puzzle 3, but I was able to figure out that triangle-equals-fire immediately. In comparison, you wiped the floor with the first three, but struggled on the fourth. I have no idea what to think.
I'll be disappointed if you never used your fabulous Hive glyph callouts again lol I respect you trying to solve this on your own, even if it took a long time I enjoyed this video, the moment when you overlapped yourself theorizing a bunch to show how much time you spent in a compressed form was nice and made me chuckle (about the 18 minute mark)
This was very funny and entertaining. I could not figure this out, I created my own form of logic, and got myself stuck. I had a friend come in to help and she solved it first try. But MY GOD she could not explain it at all. So watching this helped the last little bit click and make sense. (Also, I think 3-Dots is the true starting point, because it is only marked by a statue once; but you are right, if you had it backwards you could always flip it.)
I loved this puzzle so much that it made Season of the Witch my favorite Lightfall Season by far. Not sure what Season of the Wish holds (hopefully another crazy puzzle, but not holding my hopes up 😅), but I really hope Bungie does more puzzles like this in the future 😁.
This was entertaining! The whole lot of it Engine 4 took me 247minutes lol - Went in blind and figured out the key really quickly but not the full puzzle. After an hour of attempts, I got 2 hints, 1. check other floors 2. triangle meant "on" Spent the next hour drawing everything and then another half hour plugging it into Excel Mixed 2 symbols up somewhere along the way and only realized it after Ice Cream Rune couldn't be a 1 or 0 according to my Karnaugh Map lmao (that shorter arm looks close enough to a full arm through a sniper scope at an off angle) After I fixed the input data, it was 2 quick attempts and done I missed seeing puzzles like these (last one was Season of the Dawn, right?)
Just now me and my sister tried breaking out some pen and paper-we filled out the symbols, KNOWING THE RULES FROM A GUIDE MIND YOU, got all the symbols down, looked it over for five minutes and said; “yeah, f this I want to see the cutscene” and just looked up the answer. We honestly thought we were gonna do something lol, good job to everyone who did this legit I think that knowing ONE correct symbol would help a lot
When I figured out that small pp small legs handstand man was true and was the only one, it all fell into place. It was so satisfying to do it without a guide.
What a puzzle... Regarding your video feedback. Puzzles 1-3 were all good and fine. With Puzzle 4 I was confused for quite a bit in the beginning because I didn't have the full picture of symbols with circles and triangles in the "main" puzzle room, which would have helped me understand your starting point more.. During the mid from circa 20-30 it was quite confusing since all my head heard was "triangle, weenie deenie, circle, vex, burger, weenee deeniee, circle, circle", but I think that's how you felt aswell, so in retroperspective it was probably fine. Near when you started to figure it out and you had your "let's start with this, then from that base point, this follows; let's take the information and apply the pattern smw else...", I was starting to understand it and where able to follow you. Your explanation in the end then only enforced my believes of understanding and gave the big picture to it. So all in all, I am very satisfied with how the video was done. Just the part in the middle was a bit long but necessary to show your immense struggle and not underpay the solution
i was trying to slove it for a while but never realized you could go back to the other rooms for more info. damn i feel like i couldve solved it with that info as well
You notice the Black Armoury symbols on the pieces of paper in the HELM before you go through the portal? I wonder if the next dungeon is Black Armoury themed and gives the weapons... since we have nearly all Forsaken weapons being reprised

Was rooting for tiny ween guy. Glad he pulled through in the end.
The level of exasperation is palpable and I Love it
Super cool content, really neat to watch how the problem solving actually took place!
This was great video Datty-o
Also, the fashion on your titan is fucking badass
Hopefully you see this datto. There is 1 symbol that only ever appears once, you can do the same thing that you did with the pizza slice symbol/vex head but on that piece as it only ever appears once, and then do the same process as you explained.
I'm sure tiny ween guy has a great personality. Great video
I don’t have the brain cells left to do this kinda thing lmfao. Glad to see you uploaded datto
This is what I want, thank you Datto. I want more Datto having fun.
love the descent into madness! keep it up datto!!
I have no idea what to think.
honestly really would love to see you do more puzzle content in videogames!!
Listening to how you work out the solution is very entertaining. +1
I'll be disappointed if you never used your fabulous Hive glyph callouts again lol
I respect you trying to solve this on your own, even if it took a long time
I enjoyed this video, the moment when you overlapped yourself theorizing a bunch to show how much time you spent in a compressed form was nice and made me chuckle (about the 18 minute mark)
This was very funny and entertaining. I could not figure this out, I created my own form of logic, and got myself stuck. I had a friend come in to help and she solved it first try. But MY GOD she could not explain it at all. So watching this helped the last little bit click and make sense. (Also, I think 3-Dots is the true starting point, because it is only marked by a statue once; but you are right, if you had it backwards you could always flip it.)
i love how half of the video was like insane ramblings and then you get to the solution and it's just a logic puzzle lol
This is the best Datto video yet
I really enjoy this content. Love the work dato 👍
I loved this puzzle so much that it made Season of the Witch my favorite Lightfall Season by far. Not sure what Season of the Wish holds (hopefully another crazy puzzle, but not holding my hopes up 😅), but I really hope Bungie does more puzzles like this in the future 😁.
Awesome video! Cool puzzle. I think I can boil my thoughts down to two words: Savathun sudoku
Appreciate the hard work from D daddy
This was entertaining! The whole lot of it
Engine 4 took me 247minutes lol - Went in blind and figured out the key really quickly but not the full puzzle.
After an hour of attempts, I got 2 hints,
1. check other floors
2. triangle meant "on"
Spent the next hour drawing everything and then another half hour plugging it into Excel
Mixed 2 symbols up somewhere along the way and only realized it after Ice Cream Rune couldn't be a 1 or 0 according to my Karnaugh Map lmao (that shorter arm looks close enough to a full arm through a sniper scope at an off angle)
After I fixed the input data, it was 2 quick attempts and done
I missed seeing puzzles like these (last one was Season of the Dawn, right?)
Smart datto is smart 🤓 getting to the answer was all that mattered. The time spent should not make you feel bad, you did great
The 4th puzzle was a cool concept but I gave up because I didn't realise you had to leave the room for more of the symbols
Please someone needs to make a GIF of datto throwing the drawing board it's pure gold
I tried for half hour and gave up. Didn't even know that the symbols are scattered throughout the floors. Sill love this kind of puzzle though.
really enjoyed the drawing stream
Just now me and my sister tried breaking out some pen and paper-we filled out the symbols, KNOWING THE RULES FROM A GUIDE MIND YOU, got all the symbols down, looked it over for five minutes and said; “yeah, f this I want to see the cutscene” and just looked up the answer.
We honestly thought we were gonna do something lol, good job to everyone who did this legit
I think that knowing ONE correct symbol would help a lot
I enjoy the parts past 4+ hours where you basically sound like the sort of person you avoid on public transport
Took me over 3 hours but was the most fun I've had with Destiny in a long time
fun video ! well done with figuring it out all alone haha
i was trying to slove it for a while but never realized you could go back to the other rooms for more info. damn i feel like i couldve solved it with that info as well
Watching the final puzzle was like watching the movie Castaway lol. Just a slow, steady descent into madness 😅
The editing is great on this one
Datto’s explanation of a printer hits deep when you work in IT
Datto "Its never just do a random thing"
Puzzle 4: hello there
So fun. Thank you Datto.
“We determined that’s the truth” reminds me of Maury’s lie detector episodes lol
Datto’s drawings for this reminds me of drawings you would see in an insane asylum patients room
the conditional finality was crazy foreshadowing tbb
You notice the Black Armoury symbols on the pieces of paper in the HELM before you go through the portal? I wonder if the next dungeon is Black Armoury themed and gives the weapons... since we have nearly all Forsaken weapons being reprised
