Proof that Harold Lloyd was a genius? We're spellbound almost 100 years later. In an interview, he said he had amazing people helping him put this stuff together. It was a team thing and they all knew how to play each other's strengths. He was not shy about sharing credit either. I'm betting in another 100 years he'll still captivate an audience.
A lot of the comments are on the dance moves at 2:20. One of the documentary films on HL has an interview made back in the 80's with a friend of his first love interest. A very old woman at the time she was interviewed. She said Harold and Bebe Daniels his first on and off screen love went dancing at dance contests and he was a great dancer in real life. One of his many physical skills. At his huge estate he also had a 4 wall handball court and an Olympic size pool so he was in good shape until middle age.
what impresses me about silent film stars like lloyd, keaton and chaplin - the stunts they did (especially keaton and lloyd) on their own. no way actors would do it today - not without ending up in betty ford because they would have to self medicate because they would use the stunts they did as an excuse. i've been a chaplin fan for years, but i'm just now discovering lloyd and i'm falling in love with him too. i was definitely born too late.

Harold did a lot of his jumps off things, pratfalls, fight scenes, and he did hang off that famous clock hand with only one complete hand. Yes it was a 15 foot high prop wall but on top of a 10 story tall building roof and near to the roof parapet edge. Not safe by today's movie standards at all. But a century ago they actually had to do the effect as there were no green screens or CGI.

He had a team working with him among them were Limpy Bill Strother as well as Harvey Parry.Instead of people rattling on about trick shots and illusions they should try doing what these guys did themselves!!! Buster broke his neck on one of his stunts and Harold pulled his shoulder during the clock scene.

Lloyd, Chaplin and Keaton were immortal to this date. I don’t see any reason why arguing who was better. However, people seem to forget something: while for all of us Chaplin can only be related to The Tramp, his biggest talent was behind cameras. Chaplin is one of the best movie directors of all time.
I can't stop watching either & he also lost a thumb & index finger on his right hand in a bomb prop accident in 1919 & still performed all his stunts in films after that w/ that disability wearing a prosthetic glove...Amazing.

I'm 11 and live in England my mum showed me harold lloyd a lot.of people I know really don't like him but I make edits and skits and stuff with clips and drawings of him also he is my idol🥰😌

Hi there. all here is just my humble opinion.....so did Harold in 'The Kid Brother' 💏 ..at least two emotional scenes with Jobyna Ralston,🙏🕯️🌹💐... actually quite a few heart - tugging scenes in this film. .the torture he goes through to film this classic.😞just horrific... very tough to watch..🙁😔 even tougher for him to go through😭.. poor man .😩😭. no stunt double there . 😭and all w/ thumb and forefinger of the right hand missing too.. damn.. . and when Harold says to Jobyna🙏🕯️🌹😍☝️🌟💐🏆..🙁.. that he doesn't feel loved by his family😩😭😭..or worthy of even living .. he starts to cry to her🙁😞😣😢😭💦💦💦 .. to see him like that ***seriously***rips one's heart out 💔😔😩😭😭😭😭😭😭😭and the fight almost to the death towards the end.💪 .its a heroic role.💪🤳..not really a comedy .. this was a great dramatic role for him .🏆.Harold Lloyd could have even ditched comedy and been an Oscar© - winning dramatic actor..🏆. for his superb acting abilities.. and not just for a 'courtesy' Oscar© for 'Lifetime Achievement' and being a 'Good Citizen'' although he certainly deserved it .. but he deserved much more ...
