At the very beginning, Bebe said the most heart-breaking thing an actor could ever feel, "I've been away so long, they won't remember me." But remember her they did and in such a short program, paid a loving and richly-deserved tribute. One of the finest This Is Your Life programs I have ever seen.
SylentEcho it is quite clear that she was over come with emotion and doubt over being the sudden center of attention, despite being an actress, but of course she took center stage with skill and great composure.
Harold did marry her replacement, and stayed married to her! But he always loved Bebe also. He then stopped falling in love with his leading actresses!
Harold Lloyd's body language doesn't lie...not in 1918 and not in the late 1950s when this was aired. He adores her...did you see him hang on to her and how they looked at each other? Talk about the one who got away! But Bebe did make a great choice. What a wonderful tribute!!
He wanted to marry her but she chose to further her career. I believe that Harold still loved her after all these years. Bebe Daniels died eight days after Harold died.
I feel the same whenever I see the short silent films where they are together. I find impossible not to notice their quemistry and I think their love, even in this video!! Incredible.
I've seen her in a couple of pictures over the years but didn't know anything about her. I'm struck by her genuineness, humbleness, and courage. This is why I don't bother with today's Hollywood at all.
I wonder how things would've turned out for Bebe if she had chosen to marry Harold instead of signing a contract with Cecil B Demille. Although both of them did have long marriages with their spouses.
Amazing for British viewers (listeners) like me to learn about Bebe Daniels after we grew up listening to "Life with the Lyons" and knowing nothing about her past. They were part of our lives back then and I often wondered why they stayed in England for so long.
dancebandleader i was in tears...the mother of the fallen soldiers!! My God what a loving thing to do for those men and their families to make recordings for their parents at home!
Fantastic! Wonderful actress and beautiful human being, this should have been an hour long. Her comment that they wouldn't remember her for being gone so long tugged at my heart. A very real and humble thing to say.
In St. Ives, Cornwall , from 1950, Life With The Lyons was essential listening on radio. Shows like this were a breath of fresh air in what was actually the pre-Teenage Era. LWTL dealt solely with everyday fun stuff only 5 years after the grim WW2. Compelling listening at the time.
Harold Lloyd seemed like such a sweet genuinely affectionate man! I’ll always love ❤️ him!! They made over 200 movies together, wow! Someone here said she was the one that got away. I don’t believe so. He loved his wife dearly and Marion. Davis also seems like a wonderful person.
It's one thing for a mother to lose one son in war. It's a whole different thing to lose two sons , both in the same war, and the same plane. I feel for that dear loving mother.
Fun fact: Notorious 1920's gangster Al Capone(1889-1947)was such an fan of bebe's, that when he stayed in the same hotel once, and was informed that her purse was stolen from her hotel suite.he ordered her purse returned or the thief shall suffer the consequences. her purse was eventually returned with all of it's contents inside of it untouched.
@@Cherryberrygirl89 According to Richard w.bann,on mr.lloyd's wedding day,he had cold feelt.and Hal roach had to calm him for several minutes,in order to regain himself for his most crucial day.
Mr.Lloyd said bebe never had a double, meaning: the lonesome luke shorts(1915-1917). when she was just starting her teens, when she appeared and performed on those comedies.
Harold is hiding his hurt arm... which happened during a photo shoot where a dud bomb turned out to be a real one! He did most of his stunts with a hand that was covered by a glove and only a few fingers. Most people never could tell.
When he was nervous,he tended to show his right and maimed hand, when in a public and social setting.he would repeat this behavioral gesture on his own this is your life tribute (December 14,1955).
I think her make up of the 1950s changes her face. In the 30s she had bee stung style make up. What a lovely lady. I believe he had a relationship with Monroe
I just red on my iPhone about MM0 auction. One of the items which was sold for 40k was a card from MM0 to Ben Lyon/ thank you note after she became a star. The other article suggests that what you said. No wonder, his wife moved the family to London
@@ludastout2852 - I do believe Bebe and family moved to London because of a stalker Bebe had in America. Several times this stalker would be caught, tried, sentenced to a mental institution, and later released.
I like the way people's teeth were arranged so naturally back then, so crooked. Today teeth are too perfect and straight in line. too white bread. I like natural arrangements over human arrangements. Nature is ugly and confusing yet powerful. i take power over weakness anytime.

Agree :)
Jim Britt, I'm torn between the loveliness of such a down-to-earth person and as you say, the humility is almost heartrending.
Wasn't stuff like that staged, though? They needed a little drama for TV.
GOOD STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SylentEcho it is quite clear that she was over come with emotion and doubt over being the sudden center of attention, despite being an actress, but of course she took center stage with skill and great composure.
No Bebe dear, they remember you. We all remember you still. And, look at Harold gush. So sweet the two of them.

she was a dish in her day. I get his smittenness.
Thanks. I love the films she did with Harold Lloyd.
Me too i have more than a dozen of their one-reelers with snub pollard. and her final two with harold.
I wasn't expecting that reaction from Bebe Daniels. How beautifully genuine and sincere she reacted.

I completely agree with you in regards to the Hollywood of today!👋👋👋

I love her and Harold Lloyd. Thanks!
So do i, they've always seemed to have natural and beautiful chemistry together in the films i've watched of them.
I agree. I don't wish it to sound rude, but I feel that Harold Lloyd had more chemistry with her than Mildred.
I wonder how things would've turned out for Bebe if she had chosen to marry Harold instead of signing a contract with Cecil B Demille. Although both of them did have long marriages with their spouses.
@@Cherryberrygirl89 I very highly agree.

One of the most genuinely touching This Is Your Life programs ever. The other comments say it all.

I've always loved this woman, but I didn't know until I watched this that we have the same birthdate! Which is today! Happy, happy birthday, Bebe!
A wonderful tribute to a wonderful star!
What wonderful, genuine people. "if you think right, it'll be right" says bebe's mum. my new maxim! Thanks for sharing vidX
pamla motown me too!

Super emotional when the mother of the soldiers who died in the war came on
I've been away so long, they won't remember me." Those are true words that today's celebrities will come to know in the future !
The poor woman is so shocked she looks horrified and almost sickened when it's announced that "This is your life!"

My mistake, his birth year was 1899.
This was wonderful,, thank you,, What a Beautiful Movie Star
what a classy star..
Estoy descubriendo lo importante que fue la carrera de Bebe Daniels. Y sí, ella fue una gran estrella...
She and mr roach had the same birthday, i've just remembered.
She had an infectious laugh. Sweet woman.
I sure do remember you beautiful, Bebe!❤️

Gloria Swanson and Bebe Daniels
Loooooove the Lyons family so much, still hearing them daily on a vintage radio station, wonderful!
Wow, Bebe and I share the same birthday only decades apart. Now i have a new hero born on my same day.
beautiful
Such a gracious and classy lady.
What a lovley Lady
Bebe and Harold died in same year a week different between them
Harold and Bebe couldn´t help kissing each other on the lips, so cute ❤
i love her so much ):
She was genuinely surprised and touched, nothing fake.
What an interesting one. The lady was genuinely surprised.
Thank you! I love her. She has always been an inspiration to me!
She and Ben Lyon were married for more than 40 years until her death in 1971.
Bebe Danies' appearance on Desert Island Discs is also amazing. Fans of hers should check it out.
Watch this and tell me that she wasn't the love of Harols Lloyd's life...
I totally agree. Seems like his first love that he never ever got over.

Listen to Bebe Daniels on " bbc radio Desert Island Discs" .
She sounds like she looks. Absolutely GORGEOUS ! ❤😙
Why didn't they get Buster Keaton and Ruby Keeler and a bunch of stars there to talk about some of the wild fun they had during the heyday?
What a charming woman ❤
These things always make me cry haha 😆 😁🥲
Life with the Lyons, is truly hilarious and still outdoes most comrdy shows today....easily
The old lady behind her was hating lol
I couldn't stop laughing 😂
I know, right!😂😂😂
The wind changed....
Yeah... She looks like she's had one too many Bitter Pills! ROTFLMAO!!! 😂😂😂
I've pronounced her name wrong all these years. Great show.
Notice that Harold Lloyd kisser her on the lips. She should have married Harold
I just head her on Deset Island Discs with Roy Plomley and came here.

He didnt wait long after she died to marry again

Bebe really let her looks go......she looks older than 53, and badly over
weight, the white in her hair only adds age.
so staged
