Speaking of wealthy kids throwing clothes away, Thrifting Tip: Go to thrift stores near large malls or next to wealthier neighborhoods. They have nicer clothes that probably still have tags. Also thrift stores in areas that have a lot of retired people will have better vintage furniture. It's a pain to move cause it will probably be solid wood, but if you don't want to throw down thousands for a legit leather recliner, I recommend it!
Another thrifting tip: Don't go to "name brand" thrift shops like Goodwill or Salvation Army. They aren't cheap. I've found that the thrift shops ran by the local church are often the cheaper ones.
My favourite thing about this movie is the way they tried to retroactively fix the bad script by retconning literally everything in the sequel and pretending the changes were always there. Camp Rock 2 has to have THE worst case of sequel retcon syndrome ever. Suddenly Camp Rock is the underdog camp for “real” rockers while Camp Star is now the prestigious rich kid camp, there’s a group of “junior rockers” that came out of nowhere, Tess' character development gets completely reset, Caitlyn is suddenly a dancer instead of a DJ because duh, Ella is now the fashion designer of the camp instead of a singer (???), Connect 3 are turned into actual brothers like the real Jonas Brothers even though they said they met at camp in the first movie… and everyone just pretends these things were always there. I legitimately thought I was being gaslit as a kid lmao
i'm non american and this movie made me think you all go on summer camps and that's just how ALL american kids spend all of their summers away from their parents. also this movie made me think I too could sing really good (i cant) and i started to record myself singing "this is me" and learning how to computer edit and tune myself to sound decent >_

Fun fact: this movie was filmed at 3 diffrent camps! I remember watching a special airing of Camp Rock when each shot was labbled with which camp it was filmed at. For example, there is one scene where Michy is in one room, peaks her head out the door to look around, then ducks back in. The shot of her peaking her head out was done at a different camp than the room she was ducking in and out of. One of your favourite kh characters is Xion!!! I love you even more now 💓

I was SO obsessed with this movie as a kid, I would sing “This Is Me” on the swingset at the playground as often as I could during recess. I was THAT kid. Have you ever sung while swinging on a swing? I’m sure it doesn’t produce the best quality of vocals, but god it was fun

Like Olivia Rodrigo, She was ANOTHER half-Asian American pop rock chick who ALSO released HER debut single about romance that became the biggest hit of her career AND songwriting AND album debut at just 18, which was just 20 YEARS PRIOR!!! I was about ten when this came out, I wanted to play an instrument after watching it because it looked like fun, went on to play the string bass for 8 years, picked up guitar two years after, had to stop playing both due to an injury, and am now about to pick up the lute....this movie had a huge impact on one of the hobbies I now have as an adult, so something positive came from it at least...

Allison Stoner does voice Xion and Kairi in games before Kingdom Hearts 3. It's kind of scattershot, but she voices Kairi in the remake of Chain of Memories, Days, and 0.2, the prologue to KH 3. And she voices Xion in the 1.5 Remix stuff that includes Days. I don't know why Disney goes back and forth between her and Hayden Panettiere as late as the 3DS game, but they did.
Yes, go to consignment/thrift stores in wealthy areas. You can get amazing deals on nice stuff that is barely used. Also, antique malls sometimes have amazing quality vintage clothing in good to near pristine condition for cheap. Most sellers will haggle if an item takes too long to sell.
I wasn't a Disney Channel kid, my girlfriend sent me down to watch Camp Rock since it was her favorite. It was... not good, but very fun too. Mutually laugh at and roast.
My family actually used to work at a summer camp (mostly in the kitchens) and we laughed our heads off watching this when it first came out cause of all the inaccuracies. I think it was the first movie I ever roasted. All I can really remember was my mom yelling about how all their clothes would be ruined and were highly impractical and it was weird that the main character and her mom didn't know that. I haven't seen either in forever but I think the second one was better at least to my kid brain. Also seriously about the rich dumping thing. The college I got a scholarship to had a lot of wealthy kids and at the end of the year the things they threw out were so good people drove over to load up their trucks. I actually dumpster dove and donated whatever I could cause I felt bad. There were multiple times I found entire stero systems and kuerigs in there. I recall one year there was a surfboard and multiple sets of skis it was insane and heartbreaking especially because there were no less than 3 charities within ten minutes of campus. One professor tried to set up a place for them to drop stuff off to be donated instead of tossed and they had to close it down because none of them used it.

fun fact: the curve of a property is considered public property in the states so its up to the city/county to maintain it(so if ya dont shovel and salt the sidewalk in front of your house ya cant be sued for it) so ya can legally dig through people's trash cans if there is no lock and ya dont make a mess doing it. lock means ownership is claimed still but if that trash can gets pushed into the street and damages a car they can be sued for damages. mess is obviously littering so ya get a fine for it. thats why people taking furniture from the side of the road wont get in trouble for taking it. issue with rich people is they usually live in gated communities so ya need an invite to get into those and ya can be thrown out if ya piss them off. but yes it is a side business for alot of trash collectors to sell rich people's garbage since their stuff is basically brand new when they throw it out. colleges ya make a killing during move out day.
You know what's really disappointing about this movie, the three black girls who sing towards Joe or Shane at the pier to impress him because he's been looking for this mysterious girl who sang this song when he was hiding, didn't get a whole song and didn't become persistent characters. Like they are so talented, their harmonies are amazing! ☺️

Okay but the point about rich people getting rid of stuff. There was a rich woman in my community who would actually donate her stuff to the second hand shop instead of throwing. We don't know who it was but there was a lot of high end second hand clothes for like $1 there. Never stuff I liked style wise but it was amazing and some others I knew benefited from this a lot
In my school all the preppy girls were trying to be Gabriella by trying to woo the preppy/jock kids and dancing all the time, while the not-like-other-girls were trying to be Mitchie by trying to woo the "alternative" guys and singing "this is me" all the damn time. And I hated it so much that i avoided watching both movies till my adulthood
I hate the whole drama with Tess (and generally everyone) being put against each other, because like ???? Half of the people there don't even sing. Or if they do it's a completely different genre (also as a kid I was so annoyed at how Camp Rock didnt actually have rock music), like why did Tess think Allison Stoner's character is competition to her when she did music engeneering or DJing or whatever, she didn't even sing!

When this movie came out, me and three were OBSESSED with the Jonas Brothers. So we ended up having a premiere sleepover party. It was a lot of fun and it was so cool that our parents let us throw a party like that. Also, you mentioning the scene of Tess reading Mitchie’s songbook, reminded me that at this party, we ALL (even our parents) thought she was going to steal her song and make it seem like it was hers all along. But that didn’t happen??? I really wonder why that scene was left in lol. Also also, Tess’ actress is Naminé in Kingdom Hearts in all games EXCEPT 2. Even with the new scene for 2 Final Mix, she did the Naminé lines. So Naminé just awkwardly has a completely different voice in only one scene.
I think in the scene where she finds Mitchie's book she puts the dots together and realizes that Mitchie's the girl he's been looking for, so Tess makes sure Mitchie can't get to final jam and closer to Shane.

I was OBESSED with Camp in High School! The two final songs "Want of a Nail" and "Here's Where I Stand" are SO GOOD! Especially the latter as it takes that character who has been fairly silent all movie (her jaw is wired shut because her father wants her to lose weight. Yes it's gross, he's trash.) and gives her this 11 hour "EFF YOU DAD" song that's so emotional.

I have a good friend who has a life threatening allergy, and they are a nice person 99% of the time, but their health is not being taken seriously is not something that they can keep being nice about. They ended up in a hospital multiple times over their life because their allergy wasn't taken seriously
I am not super rich or anythint but I learned the piano and clarinet. Yes and I had my own instruments, and they were of good quality, and yes were expensive. I donated my piano and musical sheets, but still have my clarinet. I had another piano left to me by a relative and I also gave it away to another family friend before we had a fallout.
Negative can you review Hamilton next and also review Fame next, they are both great films. Also review Lemonade Mouth which is also a great film and the only film out of Disney that changed my perspective on teens.

Okay but I was obsessed with this soundtrack for about two or three years as a kid. The first Camp Rock was decent, I had enjoyed it as a kid. A lot better than the sequel IMO. I didn't pick up an instrument because of this movie, generally because I already wanted to play guitar.
My friends made me watch camp rock when I was 13, I'd never seen it before and it had been out for at least 10 years at that point. So I watched it and absolutely did not understand why people liked it so much, I still dont actually it's not good at all. Just my opinion tho, props if you like it

Yes, go to consignment/thrift stores in wealthy areas. You can get amazing deals on nice stuff that is barely used. Also, antique malls sometimes have amazing quality vintage clothing in good to near pristine condition for cheap. Most sellers will haggle if an item takes too long to sell.
I wasn't a Disney Channel kid, my girlfriend sent me down to watch Camp Rock since it was her favorite.
It was... not good, but very fun too. Mutually laugh at and roast.
My family actually used to work at a summer camp (mostly in the kitchens) and we laughed our heads off watching this when it first came out cause of all the inaccuracies. I think it was the first movie I ever roasted. All I can really remember was my mom yelling about how all their clothes would be ruined and were highly impractical and it was weird that the main character and her mom didn't know that.
I haven't seen either in forever but I think the second one was better at least to my kid brain.
Also seriously about the rich dumping thing. The college I got a scholarship to had a lot of wealthy kids and at the end of the year the things they threw out were so good people drove over to load up their trucks. I actually dumpster dove and donated whatever I could cause I felt bad. There were multiple times I found entire stero systems and kuerigs in there. I recall one year there was a surfboard and multiple sets of skis it was insane and heartbreaking especially because there were no less than 3 charities within ten minutes of campus.
One professor tried to set up a place for them to drop stuff off to be donated instead of tossed and they had to close it down because none of them used it.

fun fact: the curve of a property is considered public property in the states so its up to the city/county to maintain it(so if ya dont shovel and salt the sidewalk in front of your house ya cant be sued for it) so ya can legally dig through people's trash cans if there is no lock and ya dont make a mess doing it. lock means ownership is claimed still but if that trash can gets pushed into the street and damages a car they can be sued for damages. mess is obviously littering so ya get a fine for it. thats why people taking furniture from the side of the road wont get in trouble for taking it. issue with rich people is they usually live in gated communities so ya need an invite to get into those and ya can be thrown out if ya piss them off. but yes it is a side business for alot of trash collectors to sell rich people's garbage since their stuff is basically brand new when they throw it out. colleges ya make a killing during move out day.
You know what's really disappointing about this movie, the three black girls who sing towards Joe or Shane at the pier to impress him because he's been looking for this mysterious girl who sang this song when he was hiding, didn't get a whole song and didn't become persistent characters. Like they are so talented, their harmonies are amazing! ☺️
Although Camp Rock isn’t THAT great, the songs (Gotta Find You, Play My Music, and This Is Me) are arguably my favorite from any Disney Channel movie

I hate the whole drama with Tess (and generally everyone) being put against each other, because like ???? Half of the people there don't even sing. Or if they do it's a completely different genre (also as a kid I was so annoyed at how Camp Rock didnt actually have rock music), like why did Tess think Allison Stoner's character is competition to her when she did music engeneering or DJing or whatever, she didn't even sing!

When this movie came out, me and three were OBSESSED with the Jonas Brothers. So we ended up having a premiere sleepover party. It was a lot of fun and it was so cool that our parents let us throw a party like that.
Also, you mentioning the scene of Tess reading Mitchie’s songbook, reminded me that at this party, we ALL (even our parents) thought she was going to steal her song and make it seem like it was hers all along. But that didn’t happen??? I really wonder why that scene was left in lol.
Also also, Tess’ actress is Naminé in Kingdom Hearts in all games EXCEPT 2. Even with the new scene for 2 Final Mix, she did the Naminé lines. So Naminé just awkwardly has a completely different voice in only one scene.
I think in the scene where she finds Mitchie's book she puts the dots together and realizes that Mitchie's the girl he's been looking for, so Tess makes sure Mitchie can't get to final jam and closer to Shane.

I was OBESSED with Camp in High School! The two final songs "Want of a Nail" and "Here's Where I Stand" are SO GOOD! Especially the latter as it takes that character who has been fairly silent all movie (her jaw is wired shut because her father wants her to lose weight. Yes it's gross, he's trash.) and gives her this 11 hour "EFF YOU DAD" song that's so emotional.

I have a good friend who has a life threatening allergy, and they are a nice person 99% of the time, but their health is not being taken seriously is not something that they can keep being nice about. I am not super rich or anythint but I learned the piano and clarinet. Yes and I had my own instruments, and they were of good quality, and yes were expensive. I donated my piano and musical sheets, but still have my clarinet. I had another piano left to me by a relative and I also gave it away to another family friend before we had a fallout.

Okay but I was obsessed with this soundtrack for about two or three years as a kid. The first Camp Rock was decent, I had enjoyed it as a kid. A lot better than the sequel IMO. I didn't pick up an instrument because of this movie, generally because I already wanted to play guitar.
My friends made me watch camp rock when I was 13, I'd never seen it before and it had been out for at least 10 years at that point. So I watched it and absolutely did not understand why people liked it so much, I still dont actually it's not good at all. Just my opinion tho, props if you like it
