  • This wash features a Hanna wrap and rocker combo set with an unknown mitter and product signs followed by a protovest dryer. Overall not a bad wash and the old school frames are massive!

    There is a good reason nobody puts in ProtoVest 90N/90XS blowers anymore: they have high potential for damage. If the plastic rollers at the end of the bags get stuck, they will scratch cars. CA used to have many FeatherTouch/90N/90XS units, but almost everyone who had one replaced them with conventional drying systems.

      Not a fan either. Always hated them.

      I like ProtoVest stripper dryers. They do an excellent job but yeah those plastic rollers do get stuck but I’ve never seen that happen. A few of my older washes had them and got replaced by 4 stupid Sonny’s blowers that don’t do anything.

      @@britishcarfan9601 Sonny's dryers are far better than those old stripper's because they dry the car a lot better and they cannot damage the car at all. I'm not surprised that those dryers at the Car Pool location got replaced.

      @@CaliforniaCarWashes Unless they have Stargates on them then yeah but regular Sonny’s blowers are very underpowered. Car Pool only has 4 and they don’t even have air gates. The Proto-Vest 90T they had was actually better than you thought. They had Sensors on all of the bags and they just hovered over the car they didn’t even touch the car at all from what I remember. I found out that that stripper they had was from 1988 when that building was brand new so I’m guessing it failed and they needed to replace it

      @@CaliforniaCarWashes The only way Proto-Vest dryers fail is if the sensors don’t work anymore or if the rollers on the older ones freeze up. Even the non sensor version still leaves a good 1-2 inch gap so those bags don’t even touch the paint since the counter weights are adjusted so if the car barely touches them they move up. I personally prefer Proto-Vest over Sonnys because they save electricity and they are a much older company than Sonnys. Protovest themselves have been making Stripper dryers since the mid 70s and they are still great to this day. A lot of the newer models have 35 HP motors

      Yeah same. I’m pretty sure the red frame for the equipment and the brushes are Sherman. But I’m not sure what brand made the mitter. The dryers are the Protovest 90XS which are rare.

    Those wrap arounds at the entrance of the tunnel remind me of MacNeil's RS-600 wrap arounds because of the arm and brush core design.

    Very amazing I noticed the brushes with cloth mitters look similar to the one that I did at WildWood New Jersey Beach Sea Location

    I have these dryers where I'm at and they are everywhere this is my first time seeing one when going to the car washes in my city plus you don't see vintage car wash at all especially living in las Vegas Nevada I live in Los Angeles I see these all the time it's pretty cool because I get to take pictures of it I wonder if the 90XS dryers are still around of this year I'm really curious

    Awesome video and tunnel! I like the mixed equipment and that Protovest IP Stripper. That seems to be a early or mid 2000s dryer. Oh how’s your mini car wash project tunnel that your working on? Did you make any progress?

      @thecarwashelevatorfanatic7433 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That actually isn’t an IP stripper. It’s a 90XS unit which is pretty rare, although it’s still in production as of today.

      @@thecarwashelevatorfanatic7433 Oh wow I had no idea. Yeah those are very rare especially that one because it has a loud blower with that blue thing on the end which is to quiet the blower. But that thing is still quite otherwise

      That's not an IP protovest stripper dryers it's the 90XS dryers they the rarest machines as of today they still have them until this day it's very rare too see something like that where I'm from I got those everywhere at every car wash

    When you film car washes inside a car, do you take off your seatbelt or leave your seatbelt on?
