Sony having a unified mount for full frame and APSC really helps to alleviate the crop in 4k60. Grab any of the APSC Sigma 1.4 primes you've still got a full frame 24mm/45mm/84mm f/2.1 equivalent. Could be a good option to shoot APSC in other modes too, since it has less rolling shutter, if you're going to be doing any fast panning

also, those unassigned dials are pretty big deal, auto focus assist, 13ms rolling shutter in Apsc crop is kinda perfect for this hybrid camera, focus breathing, 7K down sampling for a sharper image, I think using clear image zoom is going to crop in at true 4K or close to it, 24mm prime is a great lens choice for this camera, active stabilization is also better on this one it sounds like, I brushed off this camera when it was first announced but after watching a lot of reviews, this camera is going to make a lot of people very very happy 🌸

Thanks for the video! I’ve been wanting to upgrade my A6300 for a long time and it be actually been dialed in on getting the Fuji XT4. But I have Sony lenses already and the switch will equal about the price of the body. Plus, I want to print more photos larger and sell prints online so the megapixel boost is enticing. Just seems that, though I really want an XT4 this camera will be the most convenient hybrid for me to keep flowing straight into work without learning a new system and making all new LUTS, etc. I’m happy you just didn’t spec dump here but showed real world and professional usage. I share your opinion on the 4k60 crop, it doesn’t bother me bc I don’t do much slowmo either and I shoot mostly in 24fps, it feels more cinematic to me. I like that you’re one of the few on YT who shares this opinion and I appreciate that. Many are so upset with that crop but to me, it’s such a minor thing compared to the many amazing tunes this camera can do, for photo and video both! I preordered mine, hope to have it in my hands in a couple weeks. The reasons you called out were the main reasons I bought it. Watched half this vid and you sold me on switching. Love my LUMIX G9 but the Sony ticks way more boxes. I mean, maybe I stick around and wait to see what the GH6 delivers but who knows when that happens. Plus, the A7 IV will complement my only other Sony cam, the ZV-E10 which I love for streaming but not so much for snapping pics. Aggggh, the struggle lol.
I'm questioning my option to unload and sell my Fuji XT3 with Cage and 2 lenses the 16-55 2.8 and 50-140 2.8 and grip. I LOVE shooting with the Fuji and the photos that come out of the camera but I feel that the AF are a bit lacking compared to Sony. That plus I've been itching for a bit more photo resolution compared to the Fuji. I can try to sell the Fuji set up and pretty much break even with the Sony and a 24-105mm lens to get rollin.
Should I buy the A7c or the A7 IV (A7c german market: 2000 Euros and the A7 IV german market: 2800 Euros), Dec. 2021 the price was 1600 Euros (A7c) and I don't get the huge price gain at all. So if I will spend more than 2k on a camera it should be a solid purchase, future proof as well and I can't wait for the A7C ii. To be honest from 2k to 2,8k is not much difference if we compare the price and value. It will be my first camera and I am a hybrid shooter with my Samsung S20 plus. Can somebody help me out?
i personally don't mind the 4k60 crop, since i can use 16mm to 24mm lenses and even APS-C SIRUI lenses work great. But the biggest Con of all is the overheating issue. Sometimes the camera shuts down after 30 minutes constant recording time even in temp. setting "high" using internal battery. Using this camera for decent professional filming is not really recommended at the moment, especially compared to the a7s3 or even a6600, which do not overheat at all. The overall camera is great, but the overheating is a real bummer for me.
I just purchased the XT4 last week. I haven't even tried it out yet. But I was stuck between this camera and XT4.... did I make a mistake should I have paid extra for the Sony a7iv? I just wanted a great camera for photo video and vlogging and most people said the fuji was amazing for all of them. But I feel left out not having full frame and better low light performance.... Although I did see the XT4 is ranked as the best low light APC....So am I really missing out?? or should I give the XT4 a chance!? Thank You in advance!
I love mine! I've had it since Christmas and it is the camera I was waiting for! I was never happy with my a7iii, and this fixes all of the things I was upset about! it might not be perfect for everyones needs, but it will be my camera for a while!

A follow up "settings for..." tutorial for both photo and video would be super helpful as I'm still new to both and the a7iv's menus are pretty extensive (and as a rookie... they can be a little intimidating/ confusing at times). Same here. I have to wait 'til the end of the year. Sony sent some sample cameras to content creators. It also depends on the region. Some countries got it before the USA.
Haven't seen too many people mention this but one of my main reasons for choosing this over R6 would be ability to use aftermarket lenses. Canon 24-70 F2.8 is $2500.. sigma is $1200
I was very close to getting the R6 recently as I’ve been primarily Canon my whole life. But recently they announced no more support for 3rd party glass. Instant deal breaker for me and I’m now team Sony, for the time being! Absolutely loving the A7iv so far, does everything I need as a hybrid shooter.

I ended up getting the alpha 7iv recently and I’ve been playing around with the HD -120 and it looks really good and sharp I don’t think it’s bad part. Not everything needs to be in 4K in my opinion. The camera is solid. 4K 60 crop I think has to do with the overheating. Specially when is down sampling form 7k.

I had the Tamron 17=28 2.8 zoom. 17mm cropped is 25.5 so I set the lens to that filming at 4K 24/50. When I switch to 4.K 60 I zoom back to 17mm which becomes 25.5. No change in image. Works perfect. The a7iv makes my old a7iii look kike a toy. What a bargain. $500 difference is only $150 because the $ has shrunk.
so many people have said Sony A7IV is a great all-rounder, and it is not hugely expensive compared to $5000-7500 cameras. true, we dont have a monster camera but it's great that we can rationale that best buys are the ones that dont break the wallet or bank. I will get the Sony A7IV soon. I cannot justify the Sony A1 just yet, the glass alone is $2000+ expecially the 24-78mm GM II keep up the good work

On the plus side, the 1080p on this camera is actually good. I came from the a6300 so I’m used to terrible 1080p. The a6300 video is what made me go blackmagic again haha

I switched from Fujifilm to Sony. I bought it. Amazing camera 🙏🏼🙌🏼 Fujifilm is also great but I want a full frame camera. Now Fuji is my back up.

That strap placement / 3.5 jack being out of the way is key. My fx3 gets annoying when having a mic + strap haha

i was going to get he Canon R6 Mark ii but I am now saving up for the A7 iv and I am more than happy about my decision.

I use an iMac that's pretty beefy. 64g ram and good graphics card.
It's probably a bottleneck with your hard drive.. You need to edit from nvme (M.2) SSD.

Here I was totally content keeping my Canon R6 for a while-the "convenience" argument is strong, and I share a lot of preferences and use cases...
I recommend adding a bottom L plate on the bottom from smallRig or anything similar. Makes the camera so much more comfortable to hold

On the plus side, the 1080p on this camera is actually good. I came from the a6300 so I’m used to terrible 1080p. The a6300 video is what made me go blackmagic again haha
Is it possible if Sony release a firmware update to remove the crop on 4k60 and make it full frame just how Nikon did for Z6ii and Z7ii ?
