Well technically there is no one across from the house, it faces onto stunning water views. So in fact, is quite private while still taking in the breathtaking vista in each room. Though I’m sure people who can afford a house in that locale would consider it modest in size, I agree that most of us mere mortals wouldn’t! 😂 I’m jealous as all hell either way. It’s gorgeous.

Right? I was thinking the same that you can't expect privacy here. I was actually wondering that what if someone flying a drone? They have a direct view of your bedroom. I mean I love the design but that kind of had me thinking.
i really liked the use of concrete and glass. there's so much more to using concrete and glass that isn't immediately obvious. Finishing and sealing the concrete so that it is an attractive consistent hue (would have to be specifically ordered from the supplier), finished durable cleanable detail. The hardware and installing the glass doors and windows of these greater sizes requires much higher engineering and your installers did a beautiful job. I was on a project with similar very large glass windows and doors, and i was fascinated by how such weight could move so balanced and easily. And yes the play of light is important, reflecting it off the interior, having the openness, the colors of the interior furnishings. There's plenty of area for adding favorite art pieces, and even places to put occasional paint focus points. This was fun to watch. thank you for your bold creativity!
Some very engaging aspects: I love the way the bed floats in the primary suite to capture the view - may re-position mine! Also a great re-interpretation of a wardrobe - a glass jewelry box - fab!
I love it 👏 It really showcases the designers/architects/builders. It’s so important to have the right team to pull this off and I will definitely keep this team in mind in the future. So many good architectural houses I’ve seen that are built poorly and just don’t work. Great work guys!
I keep thinking nothing is in straight lines or up down throughout the house.... every part was smooth and curved and flowed the glass closest wow never seen that before...BEAUTIFULL PLASE.
The home is lovely EXCEPT for the entry design. It is truly a horrible concept to enter climbing those narrow steps and have no warm welcome. The stairway from the basement is also a non-welcoming design.

Ironic considering the title "forever home". Which means as long as the owners are able-bodied and don't suffer age-related arthritis or hip injuries, where all the stairs make the place unliveable.

why people get triggered by glass and double-height volumes? It's fairly small double-height volume that tries to maximize what looks to be around 4000 square foot house. It's certainly not modest relative to middle class in Australia but relative to that neighborhood it's not standing out as something opulent and gigantic.
The first thing that came to mind is how can someone drop so much money on a home to be faced with that staircase - don't people think about the mobility issues they will face once they age? Or if they have some accident?
@@mycellphone4437 its safe... actually, its more of an issue with small kids. My cousin has the same staircase and kids drop literally everything down there and have their legs and hands stuck there.
I find it hard yo believe that anyone with THIS budget wouldn't provide some form of handicap axcess to the main living area other than two strong men...I guess they chill in the kids lounge and watch the pool.
The front courtyard with crushed granite looks cheap and unfinished. The narrow entry stairs and doorway are bad also. The kitchen looks generic and uninspired. This beautiful house on this location deserves better.
