    I played (meaning I got schooled by) a 720 a few weeks ago in a few races to 9, and he was using the original Hsunami and it was GLORIOUS. I went looking at my local shop…couldn’t find a Hsu so I tried and bought the Fuze kielwood and I’ll just say, if you’re thinking about going with kielwood, DO IT. The hype is real.

    Just got one of the shafts I ordered and let me say they are nice. I came from playing with wx900 as my main shaft. This definitely is a lot stiffer and still great feedback. Not as low deflection but I love non whippy feeling especially at a smaller diameter 12mm. I couldn’t get over the weird flex wx900 had. Takes no time to adjust. Yes this is low deflection, no it’s not the lowest. Yes it has great feedback, stiff but not muted like predator shafts but a lot more feedback. Kinda reminds me of 314-3 but tonkier and stiffer. It is a happy medium between laminated ld shaft and carbon shaft. Way better than my other kielwood shaft from a major brand. It’s about 15% stiffer to me. Definitely like a medium/hard tip for that addicting tonky snappy hit. Took no time to adjust hit speed. I wouldn’t say these are lighter I opted for 30” weight feels same. Couldn’t find my scale to accurately weigh. But honestly blindfolded I couldn’t tell the difference. Taper is feels like a pro hybrid. If you familiar with mezz tapers it reminds me a bit of that it’s a nice comfy gradual taper and I absolutely love it! Super comfy open and closed. Only small gripe is the finish I wish was a little more satin feeling as I have sweaty hands so after awhile playing have to put a glove on. Other than that I’m very impressed.
    Quality 5/5
    Feedback 4.5/5
    Deflection 4/5
    Richard Hsu plans on taking orders again June 1st. Last I heard orders are backed up till September. He communicates super fast and answered all my questions about measuring the joint, taper and gave recommendations as well was very informative. Please be patient he is a one man army doing his best. He definitely prides himself with quality over quantity and is also maintaining a cue business.

    • @TheBilliardCorner
      @TheBilliardCorner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends what you want. White vault plate + micarta as seen in this video is lower deflection. A short micarta ferrule increases deflection a bit but offers a better hit and feel.
      I personally go for better hit and feel but many prefer the lower deflection.

    How does deflection of 2.0 compare to cf such as Cuetec?

    • @TheBilliardCorner
      @TheBilliardCorner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unsure as I haven't tested the Cuetec, Richard's Hsunami 2.0 DR is very low deflection.

    • @NotGlen
      @NotGlen ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I owned all revo, cuetec, and jacoby black cf shafts I sold all but the jacoby black.
      But the jacoby black had some considerable deflection compared to the two.Long story short I switched back to my mezz wx900 with conical taper something about solid maple construction you can’t beat compared to cf. cuetec sat in the middle of revo and the jacoby black. Is it the lowest deflection? No does that matter? No after going down the rabbit hole I found shaft feeling was more important than deflection as I could better guess spin and smaller diameter shaft I also improved my stroke. The added benefits of torrifying a shaft is your making it lighter. Which equal less deflection because less mass. But your also hardening the wood and the wood is less subject to humidity and temp. Plus is just looks dang cool!!!

    What does removing liquids and sugars from wood shafts have to do with physics? If you hit a cue ball with left english the cue ball is going to push right no matter how much fluids or sugars are in the wood.

    • @TheBilliardCorner
      @TheBilliardCorner  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Incorrect. Removing moisture and sugars from the shaft decreases the weight of the entire shaft. Decreasing front end mass decreases deflection. All the big cue manufactures been doing this by other methods such hollowing out the front end and replacing with foam, shorting the ferrule and more.

    Stupid bullshit. There is no such thing as kielwood. These shafts are simply roasted maple. I build guitars with roasted maple necks all the time. Not a big deal and definitely not worth 350 bucks, because it just doesn’t really cost much to bake the wood other than a special oven.
