@@thefixerofbrokenstuff I still have all my layout books and hand tools from decades ago. I wasn’t in HVAC very long though. I transitioned to architectural sheet metal and then when the economy tanked in 1980, I entered the naval shipyard system and became a marine sheet metal mechanic.
Yes. I often use flex in the branch runs for sound attenuation since I insulate my tin work on the outside. Regardless, at some point tin duct is needed.
Among other things, yes. I don't enjoy hvac stuff much anymore. Customers are becoming more and more arrogant, and houses are becoming more and more filthy. I have a very select list of customers that I have gathered up and I rarely take new hvac customers. The generator world has a higher profit density, I don't have to go inside houses, the customers are generally a better grade of people. There's no such thing as a rent house with a generator.
Instead of using a bar fold afterward, it's a lot easier to bend in the brake before assembling the duct.
Sometimes I do it that way, but it's just my way to use hand turners and hand seamers.
Hey! A fellow tin bender. I remember doing transitions back in the day.....
As bad as I hate to admit it, yes.

Good ol Jimmy Carter
@@thefixerofbrokenstuff Yep....
That’s a quality product you just made 👍🏻👍🏻
Do they not use flex duct in your part of the world?

nice job
Thanks
I didn't work much with sheet metal. All I know is that it's very easy to mess up dimentions and scrap the part :)
It's even easier to slice yourself to the bone.
Good job! I'd guess your an HVAC man?
