Everything except the exhaust. And prices are yet to be confirmed. That bike on the stand has a lot of extras fitted. Spotlights, upgraded fork, bash guard, crash bars, Akra exhaust. It would be good to see one stock too, and to understand the cost.
You're welcome. All opinions are my own 🤣. I get that it's made to a budget, but to have an exhaust that low is a bit of a problem. Even where I am in the UK there are fords that would be deep enough to submerge it. I suppose that as long as you keep the throttle on, it'd cope with that (it's not the airbox after all), but it does seem like a miss. And even if they do a high level one, that might be missing an anchor point or put luggage at risk of melting. I get that it's from the Duke, which has it underslung, but is that enough of a reason to put it out there like that? Despite that, I do think it is a big improvement, and I'm sure it'll do well.
Thanks Andre. Whilst the 390 Adventure R is an almost a completely different bike, the exhaust muffler placement is a strange design & development position...
Yup. It’s so they can use the engine from the Duke and keep costs down… That it’s not great for this type of back does not appear to have been a factor in the design.
I think putting the exhaust pipe down there is for riders in Asian countries. Most people in Vietnam choose motorbikes as their daily vehicle, so having the exhaust underneath helps others avoid having exhaust fumes blown into their faces. making the bike accessible to more people
Thanks for showing the 125 version Andre most other reporters have overlooked this bike considering there's not much choice for anyone looking for a small capacity trail bike
@@PeakMotorcycles These smaller KTM adventure bikes are interesting to me, as the frame of the bike is shared across a few KTMs and Husqvarnas, including the new Svartpilen 125 which I got as my first bike. The engine definitely looks the same as the other 125s, and the exhaust routing is the same on all these 125/390/401 bike models. Hopefully someone can make a longer upswept exhaust that works for all these models. That said, the Svartpilen, even though it's a Scrambler in name, doesn't have the footpeg position to really do much other than dirt roads, as it is hard to stand on them. These adventure models seem to have corrected that. If this 125 was released when I was looking for my first bike, I may have gone for it. There is not much choice in the UK for good quality 125 trail bikes (but there are countless variants of bikes with Chinese engines of questionable quality). The only other good one I found is the CT-125, and that is very different to conventional bikes, and is not even sold in the UK (officially). The 390 models look interesting, but there is a lot of competition in this area now. If the potential drawbacks like the engine torque and exhaust position are not issues compared to the competition (and KTM don't do the pay to unlock features thing) it could be a nice bike.
I would like a 390 Enduro, maybe a 390 ADV-R, and definitely a 990 RCR. 390 SM would be excellent town bike - like a 390 Duke but more roomy and more suspension.
In light of the recent press releases from KTM, I guess we’ll see if any of them make it to market. www.motorcyclenews.com/news/2024/november/ktm-announces-self-administration/
Great job as always Andre covering EICMA! Super excited to see more details on the KTM 390 Adventure R as they come out. The exhaust is a little disappointing but even that little stubby one should get most of us mere mortals through the water crossings they will encounter. Wish they had saved money by losing the cruised control. I love cruise control, but not sure its super useful on a motorcycle this size. I don't see cruising long distances on roads where cruise control would come into play and a smaller CC engine will typically require more shifting. Regardless if they can keep the weight the same (or even lighter ... one can dream) as the old 390 they should have a winner on their hands!
Yup, all that! I suppose it's easy to put on cruise control if you have a fly-by-wire throttle. I just hope they don't apply the subscription after demo mode model to it.
Exhaust at footpeg level though? And the one in the video has a lot of extras thrown at it. The standard bike won't have the bash guard, crash bars, spotlights, Akra pipe or Xplor forks.
Finally someone decent to take a look. Most other people are doing a pretty bad job at showing the motorcycle and citing the stats etc for the old engine. Glad to see there's no resonator to cook the rear shock, and it appears there are actually good skid plate mounting points now. Really looking forward to this bike!
Oh. I'm genuinely curious in the bike. I run a CRF300 Rally, Kove 450 Rally and CFMoto 450MT myself, and I think this 300-450 segment is the most interesting at the moment. It's great that KTM have upped their game. They needed to...
@ The leaks say, that there will be also a KTM 390 ADV X with 19" front and 17" rear cast wheels 200mm of travel, non-adjustable Suspension and 825mm seat height , lcd dashboard > NON CORNERING ABS
I think the problem will be how much to configure it with higher spec suspension and a better exhaust because I am not into the exhausts as bling. However, I have an 890 adv R and want someting slimmer and lighter so I can go anywhere alone, (alone being key word) I would take mine anywhere if with another rider, but alone I would not. I think a lot of people like me want something smaller/lighter but just as capable without the unnecessary 105 hp.
There's a lot coming along in this category from the CFMoto 450MT, Motomorini Altrhike 450 and FB Mondial 452 Mud. (I think they all use the same CFMoto engine). For a drop in power and weight there's the likes of the Rieju Ventura Rally 307 which has the engine from the Voge 300. Plenty of choice. I have a few smaller bikes myself, but also have a 1250GS, which is very good at what it does.
Thanks for the video, any info about fork size on 390 Enduro R? Wondering if they are 43mm like Honda 300L or 48mm like 690 Enduro R. Another relevant question is why such a low position exhaust and the weight, but i guess we need to wait more for these infos😅
I guess a 125 enduro has a limited audience? It looks great as a bike you can ride on a CBT, but I expect it will come with a seat height, price tag and insurance that will put many learners off. The 390 Enduro is A2 compliant and I expect will be only slightly more expensive, so is likely to have a wider audience and be talked about more.
@PeakMotorcycles you got a point. I see the 125 enduro as a don't care bike, a bike that can let you drop it, rev it, make mistakes without breaking the bank and after a day of riding off-road use it for the city, daily commute(not highway) great gas milage, low fuel consumption, easy to sneak through traffic, high maintenance intervals. We will see if this is the bike KTM will bring.
I think it's the same as the previous model but with an LED headlamp. You might even find a riding video for it on this channel! I won't be back at the show until next year I'm afraid. You have my apologies.
The bigger ktm advs have lot more power but the 390 lcks low end torque. The current 390 adv sucks for slow te hnical riding. Lets see how tney hve tuned this.
I think they'll be made in India by Bajaj like the outgoing 390, so price might be on their side, but we shall see. They do have a 6th gear, but also that low exhaust...
Wouldn’t be too concerned about the exhaust. Even if you stall it its quite a ways for the water to enter the combustion chamber. Peg position is finally in the right place Proper suspension and clearances Be interesting if they have sorted the vibrations and balance as the previous 390 was extremely buzzy and exhausting to ride at speed over distance
It is, but only if the bike is upright. I've seen plenty of folks drop a bike on a river crossing but hold it up enough that the high level exhaust stays above the water. I guess we'll hear about the vibrations soon enough when folks start riding them, if they are still there.
The front pipe hanging down directly in the middle, then the low exhaust. I don't see how they think that is a "proper adventure bike". I guess you never want to push your riding or you'll mash all that up. That skid plate will not be enough riding Moab. Dumb design in my opinion.
Indeed. It's because the engine comes from the Duke 390 where that exhaust location makes perfect sense. Given KTM's background, you would have thought someone would have mentioned that... (I'm sure they did, but went with the engine and exhaust to keep costs down.)
KTM is doing it right, everything looks so good!
Everything except the exhaust. And prices are yet to be confirmed. That bike on the stand has a lot of extras fitted. Spotlights, upgraded fork, bash guard, crash bars, Akra exhaust. It would be good to see one stock too, and to understand the cost.

Makes it so you can have semetrical luggage that doesn't melt on your exhaust.

You're welcome
Love the 390 Adventure R. Wouldn’t think it would take much to raise the exhaust and anchor to side of rear fender 😎
That bit should be easy. It’s the exposure to rocks and the loss of ground clearance. Also an anchor point higher up to bolt it to.
Super good. Gonna buy it. But what about mountain water crossing // water logged roads?? Exhaust will be exhausted
Just keep the throttle open and don’t drop it and you’ll be fine! 🤣
The tank on the 390 enduro looks about 15-17 litres that would be an excellent size. This bike could be the unicorn

Light and nimble motorcycle, I think it will be interesting for adventure 👍😉
Yup. As long as the water's not too deep!
The biggest mystery to me is why the Adventure R wasn't part of the lineup from the start of the 390 platform.
Lack of competition? Plans for a 490 (which I think became the CFMoto 450MT)?
@PeakMotorcycles yes, I think you've nailed it.
390 is a Bajaj not KTM.
Thanks André for your outstanding report on this exhibition.
Produced in a bajaj plant doesn't mean its a bajaj. The machinery, the design, the patents and the staff would all be through KTM and to their liking.
Thanks for that!
Great video! Thank you. No GPS / Phone support on the 390 Adventure R?
Unknown, I didn't get to try it. Perhaps that'll be available for a subscription! 🤣
@ I’m sorry, my english is not very good. I meant, is there a base or a bar to install a GPS or Cell Phone holder?
What is the seat height of the Enduro 390 R?
Unknown. It felt quite high though. I'm 6'1/185cm and it was nearly enduro bike high.
@@PeakMotorcycles Sounds like 690 enduro territory then. Thank you.
Any info on the weight for the 390 models?
Not yet I'm afraid.
Duke 390 is probably the Enduro weight-ish. Adventure another 10kg? (Just guessing)

The new engine on the 2024 390 Duke (which is used on this bike) solved that issue as far as I have heard.
killer
Of what? Rocks or water might kill that exhaust...
@PeakMotorcycles design, killer design
The exhaust is tucked away, water won't be helpful if you stall it while submerged of course 🤣
The engine is the weakest link. Having owned a 390ADV it’s a highly strung street engine. At low speed it splutters and carries on.
Yup, let's hope that is improved if not fixed.
The sales of these bikes are going to get slaughtered by the Legendary Suzuki DRZ...
Unless their price is very competitive...
I think they'll be made in India by Bajaj like the outgoing 390, so price might be on their side, but we shall see. They do have a 6th gear, but also that low exhaust...
