Great review guys👍🏻 Have one unopened so have to crack that one opened😋 In Sweden it sold out in one second but it was 150usd so quite a good price these days🤗
Great review. Sounds like a good vatting. I like the vattings with more bourbon percantage more. This batch sounds fantastic cause of the funky note. I like when the Springbank character comes through the cask influence. What did you pay for it? Here it was faster away from the online shops like a Rimac Nevera acellerates. But the price was horrible. 300 euros is way to much for me. Cheers.
Sounds about what I would expect. Neither of you looked like you were knocked out of your socks. My last Springbank 18 was the 100% ex-bourbon they did. I know folk these days will be desperate to get a bottle of the 18 but I've never been a huge fan. Same with the Longrow 18. I've even had sulphured versions of both. I always far preferred Springbank 10 (better value) and 12 (wow factor) which I could pick up all year round until recently. Here's another thing and I made this point on your 21 review. If any whisky is going to cost more than £75 a bottle I want it to be more than 46% abv. That's what I want for a quality dram when I'm reaching deep into my pockets for something at the next level but it remains earthbound at the same strength of 46%. I make the odd exception for very old batch stuff that has reduced strength with the angels (my Laphroaig 25 and its leaky casks) but that's it. I'm sure Keith likes it, I'm sure you like it and I'm sure I would too. Here's the predictable rub though (and Dustin you admitted the same - in your heart you did), it's not worth it even in our crazy whisky world where mediocre 18 year old is being traded at £125+. Compare the price you paid to all the fantastic steaks and bottles of fine wine you could have had instead of this one bottle of 'interesting' whisky. Food for thought. Cheers guys. Keep them coming. WT
@@welshtoro3256 haha, but I'd want good whisky with my steak and we'd be right back here! Last time I was at a nice steak house I spent about what this bottle cost me and I only had 2 pour of whisky with it!
@@welshtoro3256 honestly wasn't very good. That said, better to just make steak at home, and once you do that. Heck you can have steak everyday of the week. It's not really all that expensive. I'm just a lazy cook.
In my area, these landed and were swept up within five days. They were 260 each and between enthusiast and speculator all of them are scooped up. I think I am kind of glad I missed dispatch. Hopefully the next one will be more exciting to Mike and Dustin.
@@topshelfdustin3060 same. Was your bottle 700ml? What I’m finding is we’re paying more money for less Springbank. The Springbank 18 year and 15 years that landed were all 700 ml at higher prices. The 15 didn’t go up so much. 109 to 116. 18 year was 209 before and now 260ish.
I think in person I've seen the 17 once and a 19 exceptional cask. Both in the same store in chicago. Otherwise, I've seen the 13 and 13 finishing one they dd. For some reason we just don't see the other expressions locally.
:D funny how our views differ. The 70cl bottle doesn't lift weights? I guess the 750ml was a bit overweight tbh. Great review! thanks guys! I definitely liked this one too. Hope I'll manage to get the next one. But things are changing fast with Springbank.
I'm sorry man, but they both have the same waist lines. The wider your shoulders the more jacked and manly you are. Animals stand up and widen their bodies to scare off predators, it's just animal nature!
@@topshelfdustin3060 oh come on, you know these were just desperate laments from a skinny European who wouldn't say no to broader shoulders and 5 extra cl of scotchy scotch down into his belly.
That's what I paid...I don't hate it even after doing that. I know inflation is a thing, but I'm struggling with that price point for this bottle. I say buy it if you're a springbank fan boy, but anyone else should skip at these prices.
For all the comments on the ridiculous price of $280, the last time this was available in Ontario Canada was in very limited amounts about 4 yrs ago and at a price of...$280. Since then NO Springbank at all and no Hazelburn and only the entry Longrow peated which came and went about a year ago. $280 or anything near that would be a bargoon here but hey there's always lots of wine. (woe is us)
@@jf7910 Yes, it's odd that certain states are very high on some stuff and very low on other ( you can get lag 16 where you are for $75 here in Canada at least $175!) but at least you have the stuff available and also many states allow you to order in alcohol from other places, none of this is available here in Canada and no delivery allowed either.
Sorry about the sound on this one. We had a bad core.

Thanks guys for another informative and shopping list video. Now to find the right “grocery” store. Cheers All!
Sounds like a beautifully dirty whisky. Price and availability is a barrier.
It is ☹️

280 usd, seems that's the new US msrp
18yo comparison would be great!
Enjoyed (enjoying) last year's 18, but $280 is a tough ask. The recent 15's have been very good, and I can easily pick up two for that price.
I agree that high for the 18 but that’s a GREAT deal on the 15 year, if my math is right.
Great review. At the same price would u get ardbeg 19 or springbank 18?
Great question!
Springbank 18
Springbank 18 all day man.

That sounded really Springbank. At that price you might find a dusty Craigellachie 23

thanks bro, you drinking that Balvenie?
Cheers keith.
Definitely funkier and more of a dirty version than last year's elegant sherried one but for me I prefer 2022 as I like complex whiskies which this is
I have yet to find a Springbank, Longrow or Hazelburn in the wild smh one of these days
