I have a Senegal parrot named Kramer. He talks a lot. He is very tame. He will lay on his back in the palm of my hand. Every bedtime he says "nite,nite..good night". He loves food; always asks "Is that good". I have kramer for almost twenty years.
77777mmm at what age did he start talking ? What did u do to train him? I have a 4 yr old that is so quiet i dnt evn know hes in the room until he starts throwin stuff in the floor. Lol he only shrieks when hes excited and thats normally when he sees or hears me comin to the bird room. He wants out with me as much as possible. Hes silly and a bit mischevious, ive had to put locks on other birds cages cause he will creep from one cage to the next and try to set everybody free. He hates my male lovebird and the feeling is mutual. So i cant let them out at the same time. The LB pesters him. 😊
My senegal parrot loves this video..LOL.. in fact is like she talks to Paulie when this is on and i show it to her, and she right away starts whistling or yells...LOL.. it's so funny... i made a video of her watching it.. And I uploaded it. But she did not do much.. but their are other times when she goes nuts trying to find your parrot...LOL.... But you have a great parrot there.. Take care of Paulie. hehehe... Alex in New Jersey. (Sofito) my parrot
It's not anyways safw for a bird to fly in a house,They could get frightened, fly, and crash into somthing,or get stuck,or get out of the house. It's much safer to have a bird cliped. They can have lots of fun walking around as well!
Woah, his eyes are so yellow. The eyes of my bird are white/blueish.... strange, since mine is already 7 months old. Shouldn't mine have yellow eyes too already?
Mine would never be mean to any one. it have taken years of reinforcement. She knows I'm the boss, and she's the bird. However it's a tough thing to do. You love them, but they can't be mean. You just have to be sure to always immediately react to any negative behavior. Once they have been told no, you need to drop it.(Because they wont remember/connect what they are being disciplined for) Never let a bird be higher up than you, or they think they are the leader of the pack.
I'm sorry but is this normal for this species of bird to barely make any noise like this? Amazing parrot but i cant believe how quiet it is :/ And when it does make noise its not even loud or annoying!
Micky - what rubbish. Do you think a dog or cat would be around when it was out? Careful owners would say no. Senegals are short tailed and prefer to walk and climb rather than fly.
@NekoFoxLvr Bird clipping is torture and unhealthy for a bird. It is essential for a bird's health that it can fly, otherwise it's immune system is in danger to weaken and cause problems. If people can not offer a safe place for a bird they simply shouldn't keep one.
Its not safe to have a bird walking around the floor either. Appart from being stepped on it can't escape if a dog or cat decided to attack it. Saying they enjoy walking around is like saying you would enjoy crawling around if you had your legs amputated.
She's such a cutie! I love listening to Her! ❤❤❤
I do both. Every now and then I let the wings grow. the clip them If I want to take my bird outside or something. It's just a difference of opinion.

That wing spread out behaviour tells me it either wants to fly somewhere or it's very nervous about something.

Do you still have that parrot with you? It may be diabetic if it drinks too much.

It sounds like diabetis or any kind of kidney problem. Is that parrot still alive? It needs medical treatment.
