I like the fact that the trilogy shows Batman/Bruce at different stages in his life. The first is obviously his origin, the second is when he's at his peak and the third is when he has broken down. Dark Knight Rises is one of those rare superhero films where you see the consequences of crime fighting, and shows that the superhero life is not all it's cut out to be.

To me Bane is a relatively new character in the DC pantheon - he came about in mid to late 90’s in a storyline called Knightfall. Which is where he breaks Batmans Back ( as is done here ) but in that Bruce was out of the way for a over a year or so whilst another character took on the mantal of the Bat.

It’s not a bad film. But the makers backed them selves into a corner with the success to Dark Knight. No matter what they did they would never live up to that film. So they went the only way they could - that being give the series a finale - and in that , as a trilogy it’s a great trilogy.
