Our great country has taken a battering in recent times, but our military stands head and shoulders above it all. Their loyalty and discipline gives us hope.
Thank you for sharing this video, great job. I’m particularly impressed with how the Drum Major synchronized the stationary band with the matching troops behind while playing Blue Plum; great job to all involved 🎉
Great video! The marches played were, (Combined Bands of the Irish, Welsh, and Scots Guards) 1) 0:11-Blue Plume 2) 2:48-Rhythm of the Line (Oi) 3) 6:00-The King's Guard (12 Coy. Irish Guards Pipes and Drums) 4) 9:05--Fare Ye Well Inniskilling/ Kelly the Boy from Killane/ The Minstrel Boy / The Sash My Father Wore/ The Wearing of the Green (Combined Bands of the Irish, Welsh and Scots Guards) 5) 12:10-Through Bolts and Bars (Per Aspera Ad Astra) 6) 15:39-Company Marches of the 1st Battalion Irish Guards
Thanks for tunes Delvin, I was there at the Trooping which was fabulous, quite cold towards the end, such a contrast to last year’s but not any less enjoyable. So nice to see. Wasn’t that the most impressive, coolest ‘take off’ to see and hear? So smooth, and the timing.. , the music changing as they actually start to march - wonderful! (Forgive my ignorance as to the correct terminology for music change, melody?) All I know is how beautiful it sounds! Thank you 😊
@@hazel1605 hi Hazel, it is a great start isn’t it. You can see our star DM so calm and unflappable watching the guards behind and listening to the band before he gets into position to get the ball rolling! Impeccable timing and performance from him yet again. If you watched the actual King’s Birthday Parade yesterday on BBC you probably heard that it was to be is final Trooping😢 Just so sad that they don’t hang onto such an expert.
@@AnnofWales21 hi Ann, yes I did realise he was obviously looking at exactly where the guards were and just knew he would be working out in his mind exactly when to start the band marching 😊so professional. I did hear that it was his last as SDM but as far as I know isn’t the appointment held for 3 years? I read on another thread someone asking if he would be moving to the instructing side of things and he answered himself saying no, he would be going back to the Irish Guards. I wondered exactly what that meant? Will he still be Drum Major for Irish Guards? I often see a band led by a Drum Major of another regiment though. I am assuming that when you are appointed SDM you obviously step outside your normal duties. Having said all that I agree with you about wanting him to stay but everything changes! 😊Forgot to say that I enjoyed the Colonel’s Review immensely, I think I remember that you were going to the Major General’s Review, hope you enjoyed it too xx
@hazel1605 hi Hazel, yes, thank you, I really enjoyed my first ever visit to the event and thought everybody was spot on already, though of course I'm no expert. I'm glad you enjoyed it too 😎 I wish we had someone who could tell us definitively where, & why, our SDM is off to and what he will be doing. We want to keep him!!!! The very few times I have read any critical comments about him have, I suspect, been generated by envy because I can't say I've ever seen him put a foot wrong. Where was it you read that he answered himself to a query about instructing? I suppose there's always a chance that he wants a change in direction, maybe feels "been there, done that" sort of thing🤔 A sad loss though if we never see him leading again after he finishes his stint as SDM. (Which I hope isn't until after the Beating the Retreat events middle of next month cos I've bought tickets!!)
Hallo Meneer Mvv1982 Bedankt voor alle video's die je in heel Europa maakt en vooral die in London, waardoor we het hele jaar door verschillende optredens van de Guards en Marines kunnen bijwonen! Smashing video! Of course the superb performance and the content go a long way to making it so good but the camerawork is nice and steady, good clear focus and the sound is well recorded too. Thank you very much for filming and sharing, it’s great.👍
Hello, the march 'Rhythm of the Line' was written that way, the shouting of 'Oi" is actually printed on the March Cards (Sheet Music). Traditionally the whole Massed Bands would shout, but after the first rehearsals they've been told not to, but there's one or two Brave musicians risking it! Maybe on the actual Trooping on June 15th they'll all shout. But, this isn't the only march that has the musicians shout, if you look up the Scottish march 'The Black Bear' you'll hear musicians shouting too. Hope this helps!
@@delvinrodriguez3341thanks for that Delvin, I’ve heard it a few times played by all sorts and wondered if it had been ‘written in’, but tell me please, why would they be told not to shout it? I’m disappointed if I don’t hear it! 🤣😊

It’s the Colonels review of trooping the colour. Trooping the colour is the actual ceremony. The name for the real day is Kings Birthday Parade

It was changed to reduce the ‘long stand’ for the guards in the heat.
OK ✋👀
As always with teh British these days, beautiful uniforms, wretched dressing and marching.
O.K. Where's the regimental mascot? It can't be a REAL parade WITHOUT a dog or horses!
