It’s so iconic that, in Songs for Women, Frank Ocean said « She don’t even listen to the songs I record. But she be bangin to the Drake in my car » and, now, Drake get booed on stage because people want to see Frank Ocean
>Drake get booed on stage because people want to see Frank Ocean Lmao dumbass that happened once at a OFWGKTA stan concert where it was hyped for weeks that the secret guest is going to be Frank Ocean and those stans expected no one else...Jesus Christ, Buddha and Mohammed(PBUH) themselves could have shown up as the secret guest and gotten booed offstage. @@debodatta7398 While I dont think Drake deserved it, Tyler should've known better tbh. Obv people would associate T and Frank together so that's what ppl were expecting.

Its gotta be said how good that album cover is too though. The car, the colors, the composition of the photo, the typography all just super nice, eye catching and memorable.
Very few songs are able to make you relieve a moment in time but you listen to those 2 songs and you will be transported to 2011-2012. They remind you of the vibe, the feeling, the place you were during that time.
I wouldn't say he did it better than the eagles (the lyrcism of the original still holds up as an eerie tale of Ca) and the music, well, he just lifted it from the original, so ofc it would be good. 2 different stories, same backdrop.
this album got me into radiohead and optimistic is still one of my favourite songs from radiohead. songs for women is probably the best song from this project tho
@@kinduvabigdeal100 i love how at the start he doesn’t sing even tho he sings for women but in the second verse he sings when he says he doesn’t sing for women it’s genius
I remember on my 20th birthday a friend of mine anonymously mailed me one of the LE Vinyls for this record. I knew it was her (she was the only person around with the money to gift something like that) but she would never admit it. I've cherished this vinyl every day I've owned it. It's one of my more unique records both in its content and with its presentation being subdued and stripped back. Thanks for the record Ash, I appreciate it ton.
When I first heard this tape about a year after its release, I was an old head hip hop fan- really only liked stuff like Jay Z, Nas, DOOM, etc. This put me into a whole different zone and opened up a world of rnb and more melodic styles of music for me.
TBH a lot of the tape's(and Frank's) popularity came from non-Odd Future fans. Plenty of people who loved Frank but didn't give a f about Tyler or OF, and some wanted Frank to leave the group entirely lol
Still my favourite project of Ocean's. For sure Channel Orange and Blonde had some truly amazing tracks, but as far as front-to-back experience goes, Nostalgia, Ultra is still my favourite.
There's a youtube channel that has been uploading all the old Odd Future mixtapes to youtube in topic format. If you search "blarf cease and desist" its the channel that uploaded the video with the pink and green borders
I have that project when it had the track "American Wedding" which samples The Eagle's "Hotel California". Before they sued him to take it off. Sure got me on board for Frank Ocean.
Not all OF fans took to him instantly. He was on their first tour and I vividly remember him getting booed off stage at the Detroit show when he tried to do his own song. That night ended with people throwing bottles though, so maybe it was just Detroit at the time 🤷🏻♂️
Literally has released two albums since this album while artists have realized like 5 albums since Blonde and none of their albums will even touch Blonde
Hope you do one for other albums from 2011, off the the top of my head James Blake Self Titled, Watch the Throne, Helplessness Blues, Section .80, etc..
