I highly recommend this video before taking the GK test. I followed the structure that the instructor provided and passed the essay with no issues. Thanks for being helpful.

Just tried my 2nd attempt at passing this essay. My prompt was ‘Florida evaluations have four performance levels: highly effective, effective, developing, and needs improvement. Analyze the benefits and challenges of assessing an ‘effective’ teacher. I was very confused by this prompt and I could only assume the ‘claim’ was the first part of the prompt…? I followed your blueprint and I am hoping for a positive outcome.
Greetings, JGaitan, that does sound confusing. If you have any questions or need help with teacher certification, please email us at info@thelearningliaisons.com or call/text 407-796-5191.
@@TheLearningLiaisonsJust wanted to update you that I did NOT pass. I followed the blueprint and even took time to write out the blueprint before starting the test. I used fake data to back up my paragraphs just like you suggested and I still only scored a 6. I actually did worse on this attempt than I did on my first attempt where I scored a 7. I’m at a loss on how to pass this essay in 50 minutes.
@@stephanieholts7685 Yes, on my THIRD attempt. What a joke that essay is!! My 3rd topic was something like ‘discuss strategies of preventing plagiarism’. So I chose two strategies and made it a 4 paragraph essay. 1st strategy: teachers can use online plagiarism software. 2nd strategy: Teachers can teach students how to properly cite their work. In those two strategies I made sure to give very specific examples. I mentioned ‘TurnItIn’ as a specific program that helps teachers identify plagiarism. And for the second strategy I said I would create lesson plans discussing citing literary work. I remember using a lot of transition words too: however, furthermore, etc. hope this helps!! Good luck.
@@JGaitan501 I took it for my first time Tuesday and had the same prompt. It was plagiarism is common among students and its making for high cost in institutions. What 2 strategies can be used to keep the cost down. I was at a loss. So I chose teacher/student discussions (forgot exactly how I worded it) and then student handouts so they could have a visual reference to show the consequences if they plagiarize. I guess it'll be a few weeks, but hopefully I passed. I did the 4 paragraphs and two fake statistics and transition words. I had no time to go back and check for any errors and I also did not indent. There just wasn't time. UGH. I need to pass this and the pro ed.
Does the 50 minutes you have for the essay question include the amount of time it takes to read the prompts and make a choice between them or do they give you a few minutes to do that?
Hey Tiffany, There is no choice of prompts. They stopped that January 2019. You have to write about the prompt they give you. The clock starts immediately once you see the prompt. Please, let us know if you have any further questions.
Hi! No…it’s doesn’t follow MLA or APA. They have a grading rubric they follow. We discuss this at length and show you how to pass with our essay blueprint. Have you had a chance to visit our site? Happy to help! #whenyoupass
@@TheLearningLiaisons I have. Taken the essay boot camp twice now. Was watching this video when it occurred to me on that it sounded like Dr A was hitting the space bar two times after each period. Also, is there a way to submit an essay to Dr A for review? I can’t find that option. I’m taking it AGAIN on 2/4. Still can’t get more than 7, even trying the blueprint method here.
Someone, anyone, please help. 2 months ago, my daughter (who was 17 at the time) and I took this essay together. This was her FIRST time taking any of the GK tests or K-6 and she hasn't taken any since, just did it for the heck of it she's in her first year of her education degree. She passed not following the blueprint. I failed with a 7. Took it again last month studied so hard. Memorized all the transitions for the first paragraph and last paragraph like he says in one video, wrote out my rough draft first, everything looked great, had a better prompt second time around. I admit, my first time I was thrown off by the "two strategies" and not getting a advantage/disadvantage or pro/con like I did 2nd time around that last night found out I got a 6! A 6! Worse than the go round! Is it possible that the readers are onto "THE blueprint" and if they see any correlation they write it off? Because I am telling you, I followed it and my daughter didn't and passed. It is very frustrating, because I have always prided myself on my writing abilities and the fact that I passed MATH over essay is astonishing! I left it last solely because I knew it wouldn't be an issue, yet here I am. Any insight? I am left completely defeated and dumbfounded.
@@dianacarey6712 once in August and then Sept 2. I'm signed up again Oct. 5th. This time around though, I am trying the traditional approach. A hook, a thesis, 3 transition paragraphs and finish strong while using transitions. His way did not work! I swear they saw it and wrote it off completely.
Interestingly, the state believes you can plagiarize yourself. Go figure. But it would be nice to see if Dr. "A" knows of any students who have failed the Essay exam using the "Blueprint" multiple times before successfully passing. From what I can see, he hasn't posted anything on his channel in about a year or so. Therefore I'm not sure if he'll actually see this post. Anyway, if you look at the Annotated Sample Responses on the state’s website, it provides a Sample Passing Response; an essay with 715 words, 4 paragraphs, and 30 sentences. What is more, it's written in first person, none of the paragraphs have an equal amount of weight, and the intro's concluding sentence begins with "I will discuss..." No good writer worth his or her salt would recommend doing these things!?! Yet the state believes this writing to be a passing score?
